Target has a new quarterly baby clothing subscription box! Each box includes items that haven’t been released for sale yet, for baby sizes newborn to 24 months.

This is a review of the 6-9 month Boy’s box.

Note: As of today, this box is sold out in all sizes. This is their first box, so hopefully, this means they’ll gauge availability (and maybe larger sizes!?) in the future based off of the demand for and response to their first few boxes.

Cat & Jack Baby Outfit February 2018 Review

How it works:
1. Pick a gender & select Baby’s size, from newborn to 24M.
2. Receive and open your Cat & Jack™ Baby Outfit Box. You’ll get 6–7 pieces that haven’t been released to yet, plus a surprise gift.
3. Dress up your little one & make sure it all fits. Keep what you love & return what you don’t.
4. A new box will be delivered every season! We’ll automatically send the next size up to match your growing baby.

Included in my box was a coupon for 20% off a Cat & Jack baby or toddler apparel purchase!

They also included packing slips.

Pampers Baby Wipes, Sensitive – Retail Value $1.99

Bonus! They also included a pack of wipes! Which is great, because a mom can never have too many wipes. I love that they included a full-size pack and not just a sample or travel pack.

Cat and Jack Peace Hand Onesie – Estimated Value $4.99

FYI – none of these items have been released for sale yet so, even though they have item numbers, they’re not listed on Target’s website for exact prices. I’ll be using similar items for price estimates.

This onesie is soft and very comfortable, and I also love the bright blue color for spring! I don’t have much of that in Jace’s wardrobe so far. I also appreciate how the graphic is the same color as these pants to tie the outfit together!

Cat and Jack Linen Drawstring Pants – Estimated Value $6.99

These pants are light and airy, and I love this green color for bottom pieces in outfits. These will definitely get lots of use!

Multicolor Short Sleeved Romper – Estimated Value $7.99

This is such an adorable piece! I love all the bright colors mixed with the stripes, and rompers like this are one of my all-time favorite items to dress babies in. It’s also made with a lightweight fabric, so I’ll probably be layering a onesie underneath for some extra warmth for Jace. This is a great item!

It fits him perfectly, too!

Short Sleeve Volcano Pocket Tee – Estimated Value $4.50

Gideon (my toddler) was watching me take photos and called this a “Moana shirt!” Ha, the islands, fish, and volcanoes definitely give a tropical beachy vibe. I love it. The art is adorable!

This is a little roomy on Jace, but by the time it’s warm enough to wear tees in Michigan, it should be perfect for him!

Hands Print Jogger Pants – Estimated Value $4.99

How cute are these little drop-crotch joggers? They’re super soft and stretchy, too. (If you love these and want something similar, this print is also fantastic!)

Grey Spacedye Short Sleeve Pocket Onesie – Estimated Value $4.99

I’m so glad they also included a little basic onesie to go with the print pants in this box. A good versatile basic tee is necessary in every wardrobe – even for babies!

I love the fit of these pants!

Orange Lion Baby Pants – Estimated Value $4.99

I totally thought these were foxes at first, but the pants say “roar.” So I thought maybe they’re bears in the circles? Then I read the packing slip and they’re LIONS. Duh, me. Regardless, these are adorable and I can’t wait to pair them with a black solid or striped top!

Verdict: I love Cat & Jack, so I am so thrilled that Target launched this box! It seems like a natural response to the quarterly BabyGap Outfit Box, and it comes in at a lower price point as well. This first box included 7 items and a pack of wipes. The items in this box are from new Cat & Jack collections that haven’t been released for purchase at Target yet! The designs are all really cute, bright, and playful. I love the clothing we got! And I know I’m not alone in hoping that they expand this to toddler sizes, as well!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you’d receive next season’s box. Unfortunately, however, this box is SOLD OUT so you can’t sign up today! Make sure to keep an eye on our site for news or announcements if these get opened back up for more subscriptions!

Value Breakdown: If you include the $1.99 for the wipes, this box’s value comes out to $41.43, which breaks even with the $40 cost. Normally I’d do an item-by-item value breakdown for you, but since this box breaks even, the amount you’re paying per item is basically just pennies different than the estimated values above. From one perspective, you’re basically paying the same retail value for each item but if you did your own shopping you could select the pieces you want. On the other hand, these are exclusive items that have yet to be listed for sale from Target, so the only people who have their kids in these items are ones who bought this box. That may have its own kind of value to many people. Plus, I personally can’t deny the fun of having a surprise collection of clothing come in my mail, especially when it comes from a brand that I genuinely like almost everything from, like Cat & Jack.

What do you think of the first Cat & Jack Baby Clothing box from Target?

I got the 6-9 month boys box too, and I got the same exact items. Not sure if I will keep them all or exchange for something that suits us more. I do love Cat & Jack though. I was hoping you could return one or two items.

Amber, it sounds like you CAN return one or two items. While they don’t make this as clear or convenient as, say, Baby Gap box (they send a prepaid return shipping bag and have “your prices” listed on your packing slips for the amount you’d get back for whatever you return), Target’s site does say that individual items can be returned online or in store for their individual value. My guess is, since this box value basically breaks even with the cost and Cat & Jack are pretty consistent with pricing the items in their line, you’d get back close to the estimated values here.

So if an item doesn’t fit/you don’t like, it says that you can return it. How does that process work? And how to do they decide on the value of the items aren’t priced?

Lisa, I’ll call Target’s CS and see if I can get a clearer answer, but some googling shows that “any items can be returned in store or online for the individual value of the item.” Since this first box seems to break even with the cost (based on their pretty consistent pricing of their items in their line), I’m assuming you’d just get that value. They plan to release this collection for sale at some point this Spring, so their system must have intended selling prices for these somewhere. I’ll try to get a clearer answer for you and report back. Thanks for reading!

Jace is absolutely adorable and healthy looking. Which is my way of saying he is a big boy. My favorite was the romper also. Not too fond of the pants with hands all over them.

Thank you! And ha, yes, he is a big boy. Born that way, just like his older brother 😂

Besides the fact that Pampers tests on animals, this is a great box.

Me too – I want a 3T for my oldest son!

The striped romper is gorgeous! This box seems like a great deal, and anything that doesn’t fit can always be passed on to someone else. Terrific!

I love the Cat & Jack line.

Part of me is hoping that they extend these sizes so I can check this out for my lil’ guy; however, the other part of me thinks with very little savings it would be better for me to just pick out exactly what I want since I’m in Target every week anyways…

TT

Lol, same here! If there were a bigger discount then I would probably consider it, but for now I’ll just put my own outfits together.

That romper is so cute! I ordered the girls 3-6 month box and it came with a bandana bib as the bonus item instead of the wipes.

Ack! Black out the coupon code!!!
