December 2017 Nylon Box Review

This is sadly the last Nylon Box I will ever review since it was their last. I feel like a hardly knew them! I'm bummed because I thought they had a great thing going, but alas, I guess it was not meant to be. 🙁

They first included a coupon code good for 15% any device at Clarisonic.

BioRepublic Green Tea Detox Sheet Mask

BioRepublic Green Tea Detox Mask - Retail Value $4.99

I was actually really impressed with how well this clung to my face when I put it on. Some are really loose and slide around, but this one was snug. It's made of a biodegradable fiber which apparently helps.

back of BioRepublic Green Tea Detox Sheet Mask

I left it on for 15 minutes while I laid in bed and read about crystals in a new book I got. Once I took it off, my face wasn't swamped in essence like a lot of masks, and I simply rubbed the small amount into my skin. I'm not sure it erased any blemishes on my skin, but the next morning, my face felt soft and clean.

Nion Beauty Opus Renew Eye Masks

Nion Beauty Opus Renew Under Eye Masks - Buy a pack of 3 for $13.00

These under eye masks claim to help with dark circles which I certainly need. I received one pair which are pretty long and looks as though you can trim them to fit.

back of Nion Beauty Opus Renew Eye Masks

I took them out of the package and was surprised that they seemed like simple silicone, without any sort of moisture on them at all. No cream, oil, or serum was present. I put them on (untrimmed) for 15 minutes and have to admit that it felt kind of "weird", which I think was just what it's like to have silicone masks pressing up against your eyeball. When I took them off, I really didn't see much of a difference, but since these are reusable (they suggest washing them with soap and water), I assume you'd have to keep the treatments going before seeing any visible results.

Milk and Sass Macaron hair brush compact in package

Milk + Sass Macaron for Hair Compact in Lavender - Retail Value $12.99

Yes! This product design is SO CUTE!

Milk and Sass Macaron hair brush compact

It looks like a big ol' French Macaron in a pale violet color and has a really soft feel to the hard plastic.

opened Milk and Sass Macaron hair brush compact

Open it up to reveal a mirror on one side and a detangling brush on the other. I have the thinnest hair ever on earth, so I personally don't have a use for a detangling brush. I passed this on to Sarah who has crazy thick hair.

elizabeth and james nirvana black perfume

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black Perfume, sample size rollerball - Buy a larger .34 oz for $28.00

Ahhhhh! I love MK and Ashley Olsen as a whole and just adore their perfumes as well. I already own a slightly larger rollerball version of this (which I got as a set with the "white" version when it first came out), but it's nice to get an even smaller one for travel (or to pass to a friend).

elizabeth and james nirvana black perfume with cap off

Nirvana Black has a more woodsy scent than its Nirvana White counterpart and has "keynotes of violet, sandalwood, vanilla". I just adore it, especially in cold weather as a warmer, cozier scent.

Meg nail polish duo

Meg Twin Nail Polish Set in Icy Cloud - Retail Value $10.00

What a perfect set for December! I quickly fell in love with Icy Cloud, especially the grey/blue color on the left.

Meg nail polish duo

The exterior cap is what keeps these two together, but they have their own small clear caps with brushes attached, of course.

Here they are with their brushes to get a better look at the colors.

Please overlook my grown out acrylics (don't worry, I got a fill soon after this photo was taken) to gaze upon the duo on. The blue went on really nicely and I only really needed one coat to cover. I waited a few minutes before adding the glitter on top. Impressed with the density of the glitter polish itself.

Henne Lipstick

Henne Organics Luxury Lip Tint in Intrigue - Retail Value $21.00

Looking at the packaging, I am already impressed with this lip tint. Henne is a female-founded "eco-luxury" brand that is all organic and made in the USA.

When I opened the tube, I was presented with what looked like a dark maroon lipstick with a flat tip as opposed to the usual angled version of most other brands.

Intrigue is the darkest color of the four they currently offer.

Once applied, this tint was just that- a tint! Its pleasantly subtle and has a really moisturizing formula that feels great on. This is actually perfect for me since I don't always want a bold pigmented lip for everyday use. This feels so light on that I kept forgetting I was wearing it.

Petals and Peacocks Nevermind Sunglasses, folded

Peacocks and Petals Nevermind Sunglasses in Olive - Retail Value $20.00

I see what they did here. Peacocks and Petals remade the iconic Christian Roth sunglasses that Kurt Cobain wore for the famous photos by photographer Jesse Frohman back in 1993 and logically named the style "Nevermind".

The pair I received came in olive instead of the white, but still immediately gave me the same vibes.

The company and style name is on the inside of the arm.

Feeling very Kurt in these... whatever, nevermind.

Verdict: I am really sad that Nylon Box is gone. I really liked a lot of the things they sent and I thought it was a really great value for a box $20.00. Even though I'm probably a bit older than the target Nylon reader, I thought the curation was tops and it always had really fun stuff, including a lot of full-size items. This month I was especially into the lip tint, perfume, and nail polish set. Ah well. Hopefully, another great box like this will come along as well.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, their whole shop is closed for good. 😭

Value Breakdown: At $19.99 for this box, I received seven items which break down to only $2.86 each!

Nice Boots

I will miss this box as well. Also a little older than the target demographics here. But like all of my subscription boxes, some things I kept, some things I shared. My 18 year old niece was totally digging this box. Very sad to see it go.

SO BUMMED! I have enjoyed this box so much, and I hope they’ll bring it back!

Don’t think I was part of the target demographic for this box, it always looked really good. Sorry to see it go.

Looks like they went out on a high note!

Great box. I too was to get a couple months of The Nylon Box. I guess I’ll treasure my goodies from their box. I love your reviews lol. They make me laugh sometimes with your personality. I also just signed up for LiveGlam because I want those lippies you tried on. I love the Red on you. Anyways thanks for the great review.

Thanks, Bella! I do my best to make my reviews entertaining to read. I hope you like KissMe, let me know what you think!

I will definitely miss Nylon, it was one of my favorites. I was OK with this box, just ok. I got it weeks ago, and it’s all still in the box. Most of will end up in my donate box. I didn’t get those sunglasses, I wish I did. I hate the ones I got, my teenaged daughter made an eww face at them. They’re Rad Bands, but I can’t find this particular pair on their site. The one thing I will keep is something that wasn’t in the review. It’s a car air freshener from Petals and Peacocks, it’s cute.

Oh, wow. We must’ve gotten slightly different stuff. Maybe that’s why they stopped doing the info cards a couple months ago…

I’m still feeling sadness about this box ending… it was always so much fun. The Macaroon hair brush is one of my faves from this box – I got a bright pink one and use it daily (not because my hair’s a mess, but because it’s sooo cuuuute though!), and I use the Nion Opus I receievd from them a few months ago every single night. R.I.P. Nylon Box 🙁

Oh yea, that Nion Opus was so great to receive in a $20 box! I don’t use it as much as I’d like, but am glad I have one since I was curious about similar devices.

Ugh such cool stuff. Will they be having any going out of business sales?

The Nylon Shop site is shutdown already, but Nylon .com site is still the online magazine.

They went out strong.

I think this box proves that sub boxes are much more difficult to run than companies think they will be.

This box delivered consistent quality & had a really good buzz going for it, but they still couldn’t make it work for them.

The actual print mag went out of publication a few months back and then the online Nylon Shop closed. This was part of Nylon shop…

I will miss this box, also. 😖
