How To Be A Redhead January 2018 Review

Included is an adorable New Year greeting card that has details on the products on the back and retail values.

On the back of the card is a handy listing of the products and their values.

An ad is included with a 10% discount code for H2BAR’s line of hair ties that are also included in this month’s box. I mean, you can never have enough hair ties!

We also have a free shipping code for nour.ish bath products orders if you like the bath bomb included

On the back of the coupon is info about the product and the owner’s mission statement. I am definitely excited to try a product that is committed to not using chemicals, detergents, and parabens for one!

Here is an info card giving tips on how to treat curly or wavy hair after using the hair products included in this January box. I don’t have curly hair, but this is still appreciated.

Finally, we have an ad for the Giovanni hair care line. I am excited to try it since it is sulfate and paraben free. Gotta make that ginger dye job last as long as I can between salon visits, am I right?

Here is the back showing the $2.00 off coupon and locations that carry the Giovanni line.

Bed Head Colour Goddess Oil Infused Shampoo and Conditioner Duo — Retail Value $66.76, Listed Value $30 (found here for $21.26)

I love these products for the scent alone. It is this delicious, rich, toffee-vanilla dessert fragrance that reminds me somewhat of the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream I reviewed from last month’s H2BAR box. These products smell so good that you want to devour them! Not only do they smell fantastic, but this shampoo and conditioner deliver on shine and made my hair super silky. I remember Bedhead being the It brand about thirteen years ago with their styling putty and Dumb Blonde shampoo (I used it when my hair was platinum blonde), so it was nice to get reintroduced to the brand. Plus, I was excited to see I got the full-size bottles of the product!

Giovanni Blackberry and Coconut Conditioner 1.5oz - Listed Value $5 (Buy an 8.5 oz. tube for $8.99)

My hair is naturally oily, but since I get it lightened to get my ginger locks, my hair can get rather dry from the process. It is always a struggle finding a conditioner that makes my hair glossy, but not weighed down and oily. This conditioner worked well in not weighing my hair down and had a delightful scent due to the coconut oil.

Arvazallia Hydrating Hair Mask 1.69fl oz - Listed Value $3 (Buy an 8.45 oz jar for $16.99)

I have used this and a few other Aragon hair masks in the past for when I have to brush out a major hair tease. I learned this tip from a fellow hair hopper that told me to no longer use coconut oil (it saturates and builds up on hair which can ruin the texture and not allow dyes to absorb properly). Putting on an Aragon mask and brushing through my bee hive is a lot easier. So, if you like having hair that defies gravity or simply wants to give your hair a treat to make it silky and gorgeous - this mask is for you!

Pai Shau Biphasic Infusion Sample .33fl oz — Listed  Value $10 (Buy a 4 fl oz bottle for $32)

YES! I was excited to get another sample of this hair elixir featured in the December box! I enjoyed it last month because it made my hair silky smooth just blow drying without flat ironing. I have learned a little goes a long way too, so just use a dime size amount if you also have long hair.

Skin Laundry 3-in-1 Cleansing Oil, 3, .07fl oz samples — Listed Value $5 (Buy a 6.1 oz bottle for $30)

My skin is combination skin and I get super oily on my nose and forehead, but my cheeks are constantly dry no matter how frequently I exfoliate. Trying one of these samples seemed excellently hydrating. After an hour though, I found my skin to be irritated, itchy, and puffy near my chin. I think I will pass on using the other samples since they were so harsh on my skin, but to my friends with less sensitive skin than mine, I may suggest trying it. Another friend of mine enjoyed their face wash, but I think I will pass after the experience I had with this product.

Derma E Antiwrinkle cream

Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Scrub 1oz—Listed Value $5 (Buy a 4 oz tube for $11)

I was incredibly pleased to see a scrub because I am constantly looking for a good one for my insanely dry cheeks. So far, so good with this scrub! It isn’t abrasive and seems to moisturize while it exfoliates. This one is alright in my book.

Nour.ish Savannah Bath Fizzies — Retail Value $3

There is no label for the scent sent my way, but I am assuming it was the Mint Rosemary by the smell alone. The sizes are rather small, which is handy for one time uses. I was surprised to see that one single bomb costs $3 a piece, but for the size of two that is standard to what Lush, Witch Baby, and Bath and Body Works charge for their bath bombs. The scent is a bit more subtle, but I love anything mint so this was appreciated. It left my skin feeling slightly smoother, but I will probably stick with my Lush and Witch Baby bath bombs if I want something incredibly decadent.

Sorme Lipgloss in Punch .16fl oz—Listed Value $3 (Buy a full-size tube here for $15)

I am not a lip gloss person, so I was rather indifferent to the inclusion of this item. The color is a sheer yet vibrant glittery pink. I tried it on my hand and had no interest wearing it on my lips due to the slimy texture.

H2BAR Redhead Hair Ties — Retail Value $7.97 (found here for $6)

Hair ties for me are like people losing their socks doing laundry; I always buy a few packs and they suddenly inexplicably missing. I don’t wear my hair up often, but they still somehow disappear! That being said I was excited to get some hair ties in this box for that reason! Plus these ties will either blend in my ginger hair or enhance it with the warm shades of red and orange. Those red glitzy ones may be my fave!

Verdict: I am loving How To Be A Redhead! I can’t get over the fact they sent FULL-SIZE TIGI Bedhead Shampoo and Conditioner in this box! Holy smokes! The subscription for H2BAR $18.98 and the shampoo and conditioner’s value surpass that price making it an INCREDIBLE VALUE! Not only that, but I have enjoyed getting familiarized with new brands through this box! The only products that fell flat with me were the lip gloss and the bath fizzies, but otherwise, this box was a home run! This bottle ginger is pretty dang content!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this box is currently sold out. When the box becomes available, order by 18th of each month and your box will ship on the 1st of the following month.

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $18.98 including free shipping, which means that each of the ten products cost $1.89. Keep in mind as well that this bundle included TWO full sized products. That is a heck of a value!

I look forward to receiving my box of goodies each month, however I have received a second “Reviva Labs Cream Hydratante”. I believe this product is very old. The smell is awful and seems to be rancid. Please do not send me another. I threw away the first one and will do the same with the second.

This is actually a review site, not the H2BAR site, you will want to send your complaint there.

I would LOVE those hair ties if anyone is not interested in theirs! I have never seen a set like that. So cute!! (my swap profile is linked here)

Dang it I wish I could have gotten this box!! I just signed up last week, so my first box will be February.

Thanks for the review! Really looking forward to next month’s box. One question, though – why isn’t there a link at the bottom of the review where you can have the site notify you of new reviews/news/etc for this box? Most of the other boxes have the option.

As a bottled redhead, I can attest to the fact that maintaining this color is super hard. I love this box because finding new products that help me keep my color a little longer is always a home run! Plus, they have been sending some really awesome full size hair products in their last few boxes, which is an amazing deal given what you pay for the subscription. I’m just a little bit sad that I got the bobby pins as my redhead accessory, instead of the hair ties. I use hair ties almost daily but seldom use bobby pins. Maybe someone will put them up for swap though! But either way, this box is worth every single dime I pay for it. The value is always outstanding and discovering new products for redheads (especially those of us that get our unique color from a bottle) makes this box one of my faves.

I am hoping they will include a color depositing shampoo/conditioner/treatment in the near future! How fabulous would that be???

I agree completely with all you said! It takes a lot to maintain dyed red hair. I have found dry shampoo is your best friend! Haha. And this box is great and an awesome value.

That would be amazing. If you haven’t tried them, I can’t suggest overtone products enough! They have conditioners and masks that deposit color. I use their Orange ones!

Thanks for a great review! These seem like good products.

Aragon is a region in Spain. The oil is argan, and completely unrelated.

Oops! Weird typo there. Thanks, Julia for the heads up!
