Bloomingville Bamboo Julie Salad Bowl, Black - Retail Value $25.00

I am loving this big bowl! I like having big serving pieces like this for entertaining but I always have an everyday use for them too. This will look great on my kitchen counter holding fruit and bread or on our entryway table wrangling our winter gloves and hats. The inside detail of layered bamboo is lovely paired with the painted black exterior. The bowl is handwash only so I will probably mostly use it for storage instead of serving food. The bowl measures 12" in diameter and 4" high.

Unidentified Object Art Print by Katie Made That - Retail Value $15.00

This month's Heima Box also included two art prints by Katie Made That. This first one is called "Unidentified Object" and is a 6x6" black and white print on thick 100% cotton card stock. This is a print of a hand drawn design and the symmetry is so pleasing. This simple black and white design goes so well with the other items this box and would look great on any wall in my home.

Gate to the Universe Art Print by Katie Made That - Retail Value $15.00

The second print by Katie Made That is titled "Gate to the Universe" and complements the other print very nicely. I'm really into the art deco vibes of this print. This set of prints would look great framed together. The packaging on these also makes them very giftable. Katie Made That is an Austin, TX-based artist but her style is very Scandinavian fits well in this box.

Wrapper's Delight Fouta by House of Rym - Value $57.00

I've loved every item Heima Box has sent me from House of Rym and this is no exception! This fouta is a thin towel very similar to a Turkish towel. It has a small loop for hanging and twisted tassels at the ends. The woven fabric is of great quality and the black, gray, and off-white colorway suits my style perfectly. The design of the towel is by Anna Backlund and is covered in "mountains high and valleys low.' The towel is made of 100% cotton and is very large at about 71" long and 40" wide! Even though this textile is intended for use as a towel, I think it would look great as an end-of-the-bed throw or folded over a simple headboard for a pop of pattern.

Towel held up for scale

It's taller than me!

Verdict: This is my favorite subscription box right now - I usually find myself giving away items from every box I receive but I'm going to keep all of these items for myself. The value this month was the best yet and everything works really well with my personal style. The bowl is versatile and useful and looks great in my home. The towel is a great textile that I'll likely use to dress up my guest bedroom. Art prints don't always hold a lot of value for everyone but I appreciate having more art for my walls. Best of all, no soap this month!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Each box is different so you won't receive the same items as me. If you sign up now, your first box will ship in January.

I too feel like we have been scammed by this company and the owner. It has been SIX MONTHS…I have received only one box of the three box. Every time I email it takes several days to respond and then it is just another excuse. I accepted coronavirus excuse but it’s still been 4 months since that gripped the world. Even still I’ve received many shipments from Europe and across the globe. I don’t think the owner is being truthful. I am filing a claim with my bank and the BBB.

Ok, so I signed up for this box in November. We are currently mid-March and I have received ONE box, which arrived in early February, and had broken items because it was all packaged rather poorly. The items in the box were beautiful and the owner was quick to reply when I emailed regarding the broken item, stating it would come in my next box. Fast forward to now when I’ve received emails saying my next two boxes are packed and ready to send, but no tracking numbers and nothing has arrived. Contacting the owner a few times and have received different stories about how they are changing shipping providers, moving distribution to locations in North America, having website issues… on and on. Just getting the runaround continuously. The one box I did receive was lovely but I’d definitely advise steering clear of this company as shipping seems to be hit and miss, and the inconsistency seems to be the only thing that is consistent. I love supporting small businesses and I do understand growing pains, but I also expect product when something has been paid for, and it is just not being delivered.

I wanted to avoid writing this review, but I’ve reached a place where it seems necessary to say something. The tldr; version is that this subscription service is terrible, and I may potentially have to take them to small claims court. Do NOT trust this company. I signed up for a 6-month subscription on Sept. 3. Despite the fact that the website (at the time) said new subscribers will receive their first box right away, I didn’t get one until nearly four weeks later, and only after I emailed to find out where it was. Fast forward to Nov. and I still had only received the first box, and in the meantime, the company completely changed the way it did business. Instead of getting a pre-selected set of items once a month, they now required you to pick your own items with a total cost that matched a pre-set dollar amount. Thus, customers were forced to spend a great deal of time on the website doing the math to try to figure out what collection of items they could get that will meet the pre-set amount. Next, despite only having received one box and paying for a 6-month subscription, two months later, I was charged the full 6-month amount again. The owner of the company was quick to reply to my email about it and refund the money, saying their ecommerce website was not functioning correctly and they would be transferring to a new one. Still, though, I had only received one box and was told they were waiting on the shipment of the items to complete my second box. I got a couple more strange emails without explanation (such as refund for items that were supposed to come in my next box), then finally had to ask them again in mid-November what the hold up was. At that point, the owner said other items that were supposed to have been in my second box were broken before they could ship them and they couldn’t get replacements. She said I could replace them by ordering something else from their website, but since their website didn’t work, it wasn’t clear how I was supposed to do that. Eventually, two items out of four I chose did arrive in the mail, but by that point, I had asked for a refund for my remaining subscription balance. To recap, in three months, I’d received one full box and half a second box, been charged in full twice for a 6-month subscription, and only got information about why the process was so dysfunctional when I specifically asked for an explanation. The owner agreed to refund me the balance, but now it’s been two weeks and I haven’t received it yet, plus she is not responding to my emails asking for proof it’s been issued. I’m so disappointed in this company and this experience. I really wanted to support this small business, but it’s clearly been a mistake. I only hope I don’t have to file fraud charges and take them to small claims court to get my money back.

I know it’s been ages since you posted this, but have you ever received your refund? We’re still waiting and have received a shipping notice with a tracking number that still doesn’t work a week and a half later. SO frustrated and this seems like it’s their way of doing business.

Hi M,
I ended up filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The complaint was forwarded to the company, and they finally sent my refund. It wasn’t for the full subscription because I did receive some items, but it was fair. If I recall correctly, it took about a month. Good luck!

So after waiting 2 months for my order to get to me, I saw stickers on the products that say made in China and India. The worst was when I went into a daiso store and saw the same bowl there that was in my heima box with a crazy inflated rv. I thought the items were from Iceland and unique.

Just went to the site and they have examples of the different size boxes now. This box looks more like the large boxes they show on their site.

I keep eyeing this box and I would SO LOVE the Nordic Farmhouse theme. I’ve been to Norway many times (and again in March of this year) and I love the Scandinavian style. Ugh… major FOMO! Keeping an eye on this box. 🙂

Linda

…and I just went on their website and I don’t see the option of Nordic Farmhouse, though I went on their website months ago and you could choose. :/

Linda

Wow, quick response from them! I sent a “Contact Us” form to them and they state that they only do curated boxes from the various options they used to give customers, so a mixture of all of them.

I also can’t get the code to work. I can’t find anywhere on the site to indicate that I’m pre-paying a 3mo sub. It just shows up with the monthly amount and it won’t accept the code on the check out page. I tried both IE and firefox in case it’s something goofy in their coding but it didn’t work. Will try again on a tablet later but I am re-thinking now that I see they kinda did a bait and switch on the reviewer. I am really not sure what to think when a reviewer buys a small box but they send a larger size both worth much more. Did they know a reviewer had made this purchase?

I mean they sent a larger size BOX worth much more. I can so type. 🙂

I think the box looks interesting but I’m a bit concerned about the difference reported in the comments. I’d love to see an update on the pricing etc.

love this – I subscribed for 6 months medium with the Heimagift coupon code and minamalist with a boho twist also. I’m horrible at decorating but love everything I am seeing on their website. Hoping this will help me up my decorating game. Thanks for the review.

FYI, I emailed the company to check on the valuation because I thought $29 for a $112 RV seemed a bit too good to be true. The response I received indicated that this is, in fact, the Medium box ($54). Still a good value, in my opinion, but just wanted to let others know so that they’re not disappointed if they purchase the Small box expecting to receive a shipment similar in value to this one.

Thanks for letting us know and sorry about the mistake. I’ve updated the post and we’ll figure out what’s up before the next review!

THANK YOU so much for checking on this! I agree that for $29 it seemed a bit too good to be true. Though I think it still a good value – especially with a longer term sub plus the additional discount today.

I saw on their site that you don’t need to specify the theme when you sign up. They say “Every month you get to pick from a selection of pre-curated nordic themed items. We will base our selection on the styles we have developed in our Heima Box. Eclectic, Modern, Minimalism, Boho, Nordic Farmhouse and Minimalism with a Boho Twist.” So it sounds like we are not locked into a theme.

According to their website, these are their categories: Eclectic, Modern, Minimalism, Boho, Nordic Farmhouse and Minimalism with a Boho Twist.

I think they should post an example of what each tends to mean in terms of design. Also, it would be helpful to have an idea of the differences between the sizes; how many things might be included in each. They could post a picture of the contents of a box in each category, and in each size. I’d be interested in seeing that!

The subscription box portion of their site is super confusing to me. Is anyone else having this issue? I’d like to sub for 3 months but can’t find the option. Bizarre.

Was that reallly the $29 box? Wow. I’d like to see what they send in the larger ones!

LOVE this box and for the price? Wow! lol

Yep, I would love to know the difference between say the modern vs the minimalist… I mean isn’t most modern kinda “minimal” lol

I’m interested in this subscription but I don’t know which theme I would prefer. Is there anyway we could see example curations that we may get of the other aesthetic themes? I didn’t see examples on the website.
