Avid Dresser November 2017 Box Review

avid dresser note note from avid dresser stylist

My stylist, Rachel, included a handwritten note telling me a little about her selections for me and
mentioned she was looking forward to styling me for the holidays (next month). Yay!

LESHOP Gray Dress with Lace Detail - Estimated Value $40

I couldn’t find this exact dress online, so I looked at similar styles to estimate the value above.

This dress is a soft stretchy material made of rayon and spandex. The sleeves are ¾ length and the dress hits a couple of inches above knee level. I like the lace detail down the sides, and I appreciate how subtle it is. I automatically reached for my tights and high boots to give this outfit a sleek and dressy look. It will be great for a night out during the holidays.

Like some of my previous dresses, this is tight! I may need to talk to my stylist about going up in size for this subscription. I’m typically a medium but these dresses tend to be stretchy and tighter. In order to really feel comfortable, a little extra room would be good for me.

The next dress might look familiar. I received the same dress as a replacement for the dresses I returned last month due to fit. Here is my review of the dress from last time (found here, originally):

JOLIE Women's Puff Sleeve Brushed Knit Dress - Retail Value $22

I have been trying to expand my wardrobe with longer tunics to wear with leggings or tights for winter. This dress is perfect! It is long enough to wear with tights without worry of showing anything and looks cute with leggings and my tall boots. The fit is great, fitted but not tight. The fabric is a polyester/rayon/spandex blend and is very stretchy and soft.

Puff sleeves give this otherwise simple dress some attitude.

Now, normally I would have sent my stylist a note and requested a return/replacement, but then this happened:

twinning outfits

My mom liked it so much she wanted to twin. I couldn’t deny her the fun, so I kept both and gifted one to her. It really is a cute dress so I’m not disappointed.

The Verdict: I like the gray lace dress but will most likely need to layer a jacket on top (thanks for the tip last month, commentators) to feel comfortable enough to wear it to work. Otherwise, it will make a good night-out look. The puff sleeve dress, even though it is a repeat, is so fun! I could have gotten it switched out for a new dress, but it ended up being a keeper because it made a great gift. That’s not bad for a cost of $49.99. Plus, customer service is very helpful when you have any concerns.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Avid Dresser picks dresses for you based on your style preferences and what they have in stock. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: The cost of this box is $49.99 for two dresses. The values aren’t listed for the dresses, but from what I have found, they all have about the same retail value. That means you are paying about $25.00 for each dress.

I really like that first dress with the lace but agree that it’s a bit tight. It still looks good on you but I would be uncomfortable in something that tight. In general, I think lower cost clothing runs a little on the small size.

You and your mom look adorable! That is so cute and sweet.

I have to admit though… I prefer the way she styled hers with the belt to give it that cute retro 80’s vibe. This round of “Who wore it best?” goes to mom. Seriously though, tell her she looks fabulous for a lady with a daughter old enough to write a fashion blog.

I love the twin look.

But I’m not sure if I believe the “styling” claims if they sent the same dress twice :p They likely just pull what they have available.
