Last Breath (2010) — Retail Value $11.99

This was the movie I dreaded watching the most out of the box, but it turned out to be my favorite. I was afraid it would be some knock-off Saw movie, but there is an actual tender message behind the ultra-violence in this film. It details a couple struggling with their marriage that are tortured by a sadistic captor and forced to face their deepest secrets and fears. The movie is low budget and the acting at times is something to be desired, but I ultimately enjoyed this movie.

Shark Night (2011) - Retail Value $5

Oh wow, another shark movie. Plot: college kids go to their friend’s summer lakefront home for a rip-roaring party of a weekend that turns into a nightmare when they realize… there are sharks in the lake! This is like Sharknado meets Friday the 13th, so if that is your thing you may like this movie. It was not my cup of tea, though.

Wax Work (1988) & Wax Work 2: Lost in Time (1991) - Retail Value $6.59

I was intrigued by the first movie because Dana Ashbrook (aka Bobby Briggs from Twin Peaks) and Zach Galligan from Gremlins starred in it. A group of teens are invited to a wax museum’s free private midnight showing, but they eventually find out they will have to pay--- with their lives! The first movie had its funny instances and was tolerable. The sequel was so hard to watch that my DVD player literally froze up and stopped playing it. We both had endured enough!

Silent Warnings (2003) - Retail Value $3.50

Did you like M Night Shyamalan’s Signs? Well, maybe you will like this low budget, hot mess, knock off, Silent Warnings!  The acting and writing on this were disappointing, but I feel that the worst part was Billy Zane playing the heroic savior of the film! I mean, we all know his best role was in Titanic playing a weasel!

Verdict: The movies this month were mainly from the early 2000s to present, with the exception of the Waxwork films. I am a sucker for low budget B movies, but I could have done without a viewing of Silent Warnings and Shark Night. I have a fondness for movies so bad that they transcend to good, but these were simply bad. That all being said, getting Horror Pack is still a reasonable value at $19.99 compared to paying $27.08 for these movies separately!

Now I have to check out Shark Night. My wife and I are obsessed with shark movies!! But not actually good shark movies. Sharknado, Three Headed Shark Attack, Ghost Shark, Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark, Avalanche Sharks…you know, the classics 😂

Hahahahaha! Then Shark Night is DEFINITELY up your alley, Dani! My cousin has a fondness for these types of movies too, so I sense I will be watching it again with her. Donal Logue has a part in this too!
