Le Tote is a month-to-month clothing rental subscription. When you sign up, you complete a detailed profile of your sizing and style, you browse their catalog of clothing and accessories and create your “closet,” from which they select items to send to you. Le Tote will email you before your box ships—you have 48 hours to swap any items in your bag. You keep the clothing to wear as long as you like, and you can also send back your box in the pre-paid envelope for a new selection of items as frequently as you like. If you love something enough to want to purchase it, you can simply hold onto it when you send the rest of that box back, and you’ll get that item for the low Le Tote price. Also, if you keep everything from your box, the next month box you receive is free!

FYI–the items in my Le Tote box were selected for me based off of my preferences and style profile, so your boxes may look completely different!

Le Tote October 2017 - 0005

I was really sad to see that I didn't receive my monthly booklet that showcases each item that I received, the price, and any extra details. The booklet usually notes when you need to return your tote, as well, so I will have to double check in my account for that information. Hopefully, I will get a booklet next month. Le Tote always provides this free return shipping package that makes returning all or some of your items on time super easy!

Let’s see what products I got this month!

Olivia Culpo Ruffle Blouse - Retail Value: $88.00, Cost to Keep: $46.00

I was really nervous to try this blouse on when I first opened my tote because ruffles aren't really my thing. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this blouse! The fit was wonderful and it had that crisp feeling making this the perfect work shirt to wear with a structured skirt or wide leg pants. (Or with jeans!) I would love to wear this with a destroyed boyfriend jean. I don't love such bright whites, so my only wish is that I could get this in a deep green or black.

Noir Luxe - Retail Value: $48.00, Cost to Keep: $30.00

Before I became a Mom, this would have been my perfect going out bag! I love the metal detail and the large lock. You can hold this as a clutch, wristlet, or as a crossbody bag. As you can see though, there isn't a ton of room inside. Just enough for your phone, money, and some makeup. I wish I had more events that would allow me to use a smaller bag because this would quickly become my favorite go to!

Camilla Triple Pearl Cuff - Retail Value: $28.00, Cost to Keep: $9.00 (on sale)

I love a simple pearl accent piece because it adds a touch of sophistication to any look. I thought pairing this with my white blouse was so fresh and added a little pop! Unfortunately, this bracelet was so small. It was very difficult to get on and off with very little give. I really loved the overall look of the bracelet, but the comfort was just not there for me. I tend to not wear a lot of jewelry so I have to really love a piece to add it to my collection.

AXS Cutout Sleeve Hoodie - Retail Value: $70.00, Cost to Keep: $58.00

This hoodie is everything! At first, I was a little shocked by the price, as even the Le Tote price seems high, but when you put this hoodie on you will understand. The lining is basically like a soft fluffy blanket, making this perfect for fall or winter. I basically just want to be wrapped in this fabric all day. The cutout sleeves give the hoodie a fun and trendy look that made me feel a little less like I was only wearing a hoodie. The oversized fit was perfect to pair with leggings.

AXS Mesh Side Legging - Retail Value: $70.00, Cost to Keep: $58.00

Good leggings can be hard to find. If you want to workout in them you need them to fit perfectly and not slide, and if you want to wear them as an outfit you need the fit to be slimming and comfortable. I think I just found my perfect legging! I am on the tall side, so I usually can never find leggings long enough, but these almost fit like a high-waisted style. They were snug enough that I could workout in them but comfortable enough that I actually enjoyed the way I looked in this style! The mesh side is just that extra cute factor. Being a work-from-home mom of a toddler, finding pieces that are comfortable but still make me feel cute are such a bonus!

The Verdict: This has been my favorite box from Le Tote so far! I will admit, I have been using the swap option still, which means I picked all of the items in this month's box. I just never seem to like the original items, and it is so fun to browse and swap! The hoodie and leggings were by far my favorite items, and I can't wait to wear them again. I was a little surprised by the price of the items this month though, since even the Le Tote prices seem high. If I decide to keep the hoodie and leggings I will be paying almost double what I am already paying just to receive my monthly Le Tote. Each clothing piece this month was such great quality and fit though it makes it hard to decide to keep or return. Now that I have been using Le Tote for about 3 months, I am hoping that next month's selections will be more in line with my style so that I don't have to use the swap option. Stay tuned!

So I use Le Tote completely differently. I alllwaaaays choose what I want based on what I need the items for (a party, an event at work, someone’s bday) and I send back the tote as soon as I wear everything. It’s almost a weekly rental service for a monthly charge. I’ve yet to keep anything because I figure I can just choose it again in another tote. I use it to try different items (got a blazer this week, not sure I liked wearing it to work) and to add new items to my wardrobe without committing (if I get a super-cute dress and receive a lot of compliments, I really can’t wear that again very soon).
I’m definitely not a fashionista but it’s been fun trying different looks and having new things to wear. I think that’s the fun of clothes – new stuff!

Is it a rental? Like netflix.. where you keep it and wear it and send it back, which rolls out something new to you? Or is it exactly the same model as Stitchfix, what you keep you buy forever then they send more things?

I tried LeTote for several months. My take-away is that I was not overly impressed with the clothing. For that much money per month, I expected to be blown away, but I only ended up liking maybe one piece per shipment. Also, the cost to keep or buy the items is not nearly as affordable as I had hoped, especially when you factor in the price you’ve already paid to “rent” the item. I had envisioned a stylist would be recommending pieces that worked with my body measurements and fashion taste. The first tote I received (before I figured out that you can edit it prior to shipping) was WAY off. The next totes were simply filled with items that I had already gone on to the website and “liked” on my own. The actual feedback from them on what would look good on you seems minimal to none. So my overall takeaway is save your money and look for pieces on your own from places like ThredUP. The return policies are good and you already actually own what you select.

They are cute but $60 a month for clothes you don’t keep seems high to me

Pretty sure I owned that exact same shirt back in the 80’s.
