The information card included a list of items in the box. They included values and I have used a lot of these below because KitNipBox toys can be hard to find for sale online. This month had a Halloween theme.

KitNipBox October 2017 Cat Subscription Box

Paws ‘n Purrs Candy Corn Bat – Listed Value $5

This is a catnip plush with felt wings (they kept curling in front of its face when I tried to take photos). The cats like the combination of textures here. This is a little on the large side but not too large for my cats to enjoy.

Playful Pet Jumping Spider Finger Dangler – Listed Value $5

Both Angus and Sneaky thought this was pretty awesome. I don’t really understand how it works, but when you drag it along the floor, the spider sort of vibrates or its legs move or something. This definitely caught the kitties’ attention.

Best Pet Burlap Mouse with Feather Tail – Listed Value $5

Burlap toys are always a hit at my house, as are feathers. This was the smallest individual toy this month and several cats were pretty interested (especially in the feathers).  Of course, there was catnip in this one, too.

LEAP Owl Pal – Listed Value $4

This is another simple catnip plush, a bit smaller than the body of the candy corn bat. Monkey wanted to rub his chin on this one a lot.

‘R Squad Feather Roller – Listed Value $4

This is lightweight, which makes it easier for cats to bat it around. My kitties really do like toys that have feathers in addition to several different textures of materials making them up, so this was a win. Madison expressed the most interest (of course he wouldn’t do anything cute for the camera, but once he knew the camera was off, it was a different story).

Autumn Scarecrow Wand – Listed Value $7

I think in every KitNipBox for the past few months, we’ve received a dangly toy on a stick. And I love it. This is the most popular type of toy at my house and both Angus and Sneaky will play with these for a long time. Angus kept chewing on the scarecrow’s legs and Sneaky was more interested in the string it was attached to.

Purebites Freeze Dried Duck Treats (0.56 oz) – Value $2.99

I used to buy the ones of these made for dogs and give them to my cats. Mr. Kitty can have duck. And then the stores near me stopped carrying them and they were expensive online and I was sad. This is just freeze dried duck liver and there is something about the texture that makes it not too difficult for Mr. Kitty to chew, even with his terrible teeth. Several other cats expressed interest, but more often than not, Mr. Kitty stole the treats from them. So far, it has been a few hours and he has kept this down, too. (He has trouble eating solid food.) If the rest of the bag goes well, I will stock up on these from Chewy.com.

Angus liked both toys on strings but I got better pictures of him with this one.

Madison usually does not want to take part in photo sessions…not even with Halloween-themed toys although he is a BLACK CAT.

Monkey licks a treat.

I can usually get Monkey to sniff or rub his nose on a toy. I like the look on his face here.

Sneaky played with both the dangly toys, too.

I love this picture. (FYI, he is seeing a veterinary ophthalmologist about the discharge from his eyes. It is probably calicivirus.)

Another gratuitous shot of Mr. Kitty.

KitNipBox October 2017 Cat Subscription Box

I think I’ve created a monster. I would go play with another cat and every time, I would come back to this scene of Mr. Kitty trying to get into the bag of duck.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $33 for the October KitNipBox. That is a few dollars over the cost of the box on a month-to-month basis, which is good for a cat subscription box. Any box with feathers and dangly toys on sticks is a win in our house, but to also have treats Mr. Kitty can eat? Amazing!  Plus, the Halloween theme was cute.
