BeagleBox August 2017 Pet Subscription Box for Dogs

I just had to share the adorable paper that lined the inside of the box. I love all the different kinds of dogs that are represented here!

Beagle Box lets you customize your box based on the size of the dog. I'm the proud owner of a 75-pound lapdog named Jasper, so I chose the box for dogs over 50 pounds.

It's like a doggie bag, but for people! With this and the cute lining paper, I was thoroughly charmed when I opened the box. Sadly the two chocolates within the bag had liquified by the time it arrived.

Snicky Snaks Sweet Potato Pie Boxed Organic Dog Treats – Value $5.94?

I have to start with these, because they're the first thing Jasper went for when he saw everything. He wasn't keen to go outside as it had been raining and he hates to get his dainty little paws wet, but the smell of the treats lured him over. I don't blame him – they smelled like pumpkin spice and I almost wanted to try them myself! Almost.

These treats are USDA Certified Organic and do not contain wheat, corn or soy. They were packaged in plastic for freshness. The value varied widely from store to store, ranging from around $6 to $17.

Zippy Paws Z-Stitch Dodo Bird – Value $19.99

I love this dodo bird! Jasper wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but it didn't take long for him to shake it mercilessly and bring it to me so that I could throw it for him to chase. It's nicely made and I think it will hold up to at least a few rounds of tug of war.

Charming Pet Poppin Polkies Dog Toy – Monkey – Value $4.49

This monkey is adorable and has a squeaker inside! However, Jasper simply wasn't interested. I could barely even get him to pose for a photo with this. Everytime I put it beside him, he got up and walked away. You'd think he was embarrassed to be seen with a pink polka dot monkey.

Barkworthies 12" Pork Pizzle – Value $1.99

This is a long narrow strip of dried pork. Jasper was pretty enthusiastic about this – just look at that smiley face!

Barkworthies Rabbit Roll – Value $0.89

Modeling for reviews is hard work, and Jasper was starting to get yawny at this point. He accepted the rabbit roll immediately and chewed on it a bit, but he much preferred the sweet potato treats and looked disappointed when I handed him this instead. This roll features free-range rabbit and is good for dogs who are sensitive to proteins.

Verdict: My estimated retail value is $33.30, which is a little lower than the $36 monthly subscription price (free shipping included), but I may have estimated low on the sweet potato treats. It's normal for pet boxes to have a retail value that's about the same price as the box, so it's not a surprise. Jasper enjoyed most of the items and I felt they were well chosen for a dog of his size. The sweet potato treats were definitely a big hit, and I really enjoyed watching Jasper play with the dodo toy.

Thanks! Jasper is a sweetheart.

Those ZippyPaws toys with the black outer binding last a long time. Nyx even has trouble destroying them.

It does seem to be holding up pretty well, and he likes playing with it. He’s part rottweiler, so if that type of toy works for Nyx then it should work for him too.

My last Rottie was not destructive at all, she had all the plushes in the world and kept them for like 7 years. Nyx destroyed all of those. So it kind of depends on the dog, too.

“You’d think he was embarrassed to be seen with a pink polka dot monkey.” Well, yeah! lol That was more of a toy for my Yorkie to destroy.

I like Jasper. Can’t wait to see more of his reviews!

Thanks! And yes, I think the monkey might work better for a smaller dog, though I can see how it could work for him too if he’d give it more of a chance.

Starla

Well, maybe the monkey will grow on him! 😀

Ahahahahaha. I had to laugh because I recognize the “I’m not sure about this” look on Jasper’s face next to that Dodo bird very well! My 60 lb scaredy lap dog gives it to me all the time when I’m trying to “have fun” with him. LOL. Hey…he teases me back all the time so it’s fair game!

He’s always suspicious of anything that isn’t food. (And even then…) He did warm up to the dodo though.
