A majority of the box consists of meal toppers and full meals.
BLUE Sizzlers Original Pork – 6 oz bag – Value $6
One of two treat items comes from the brand Blue Buffalo.
There are no artificial flavors, preservatives, or colors + no ground wheat, corn, gluten meal, or wheat flour – these are perfect for Buckles.
He just about lost his mind of these treats – even as I look at the bag for review, he’s immediately into ‘give me that treat’ mode – these are a huge hit.
Pet Naturals Calming Natural Behavior Support Formula – .2 ounce (8 treats) – Value $2.13
I’m basing the value off of a 30 pack of these – and applying it to an 8-treat bag.
These treats are made to help stressed out pups with ingredients added to help lower their stress and stay calm.
Each treat is a cute little bone shape! Why isn’t Buckles pictured? Well, the jig is up for Pet Naturals of Vermont. At 10 year old, he has some hip problems, and we give him treats to help that – one happened to be this exact brand. After 2-3 days, he identified that this wasn’t a “true” treat and flat out rejects them – it applies to the entire brand apparently! But, I will say, they did help his joints while he ate them – so I can see these being legit – does anyone use these?
The rest of this review consists of full meals or meal toppers – we don’t change Buckles’ diet, so it’s the last you’ll see of Buckles in this review (sorry)!
The Honest Kitchen Force Grain Free Dog Food – .3 ounces – Value $2.16
This value is based on the 2-pound option.
The Honest Kitchen makes human grade dog food – these cups are made to be easy meals (or to be put on top of an existing meal).
The instructions are rather simple – add water and wait about 3 minutes – like ramen noodles!
CESAR Home Delights Adult Wet Dog Food – Value $.71 (based on 24-pack)
The second full meal option is a ready to eat wet meal from Cesar.
Buckles doesn’t have a lot of wet meals, and we didn’t want to waste this dog food, so we kept this one sealed. This can be used as a meal, or you could also pour a bit on top of your dog’s food.
Natural Balance High Protein Dry Food – 4 ounces – Value $1.06 (based on 64-ounce size)
This is a little sample of their dog food that you can only really buy in “dog food sized” bags.
I did give Buckles one little taste of this kibble, and while he was a bit hesitant at first, he did eventually gobble it up and come back and ask for more. It’s 100% real turkey, with no grains, potatoes, or fillers – so if we ever switch up his food, this would be a good option.
I and love and you Naked Essentials Lamb + Bison – 4 ounces – Value $.57 (based on 11 lb version)
This is another kibble sampler.
I really like this kibble for a number of reasons – but mostly because it’s so small and bite-size for Buckles. He’s not a fan or having to break and crunch hard treats and food – so this being small is a plus. Like the previous food, he was really begging for more!
Like most of these treats, it’s grain-free with no filler!
Spot Farms Dehydrated Human Grade Dog Food – 1 oz – Value $.35 (based on 8 lb bag)
This is meant to be either a full meal or a food topper. Like the first meal, it’s as easy as “just add water” – you can’t beat that! I’ve never tried a food like this for any of my family dogs or Buckles – does anyone use and recommend these?
Verdict: The values add up to right around $13 – so you’re getting what you paid for, but don’t forget the major draw to these Amazon samples – you get the $12 spend back into your Amazon account to spend on select dog treats and food – so it could really just be free if your plan on ordering. Buckles is game for trying out treats, and he loved the treat options in this box, but I think he wishes there were fewer meals!
