Hairphix Coconut & Avocado Oil, 2 oz. - Value $20

This hair treatment oil is organic and suitable for all hair types. It's made from avocado and coconut oil to help restore hair's natural oils and fats. It has a variety of benefits, such as preventing split ends, adding shine, and protecting hair from environmental damage. I'm in love the scent... it's like a mix of coconut and pineapple. Very tropical smelling. There's just one problem: coconut oil breaks me out, so this treatment oil will have to go to someone else. What a shame!

Rootdown Organics Organic Facial Sunscreen Cream, 2 oz. - Value $13.93

This is a sunscreen cream that can be worn alone or as a makeup base. It aims to even out skin tone and other skin perfections while providing sun protection. The sun protection comes in the form of chemical-free SPF (average 15-20). I'm always on the hunt for sunscreens and creams that block UV rays while providing comfortable finish on my skin. Sadly, this cream doesn't make the cut. First, it evens out skin tone by covering up redness but at the cost of creating a white cast. It also doesn't sink fully my skin, even when given plenty of time to absorb. This makes my face feel slightly greasy, plus the slipperiness makes it harder to set my makeup. I'll have to pass this on to a friend with less finicky skin.

LuxePineapple Collection Zip Top Bikini Bag - Listed Value $18

I received this exact bikini bag in the June 2016 LuxePineapple Post, and my opinions on it remain the same. It is a very large zip top bag with sturdy PVC lining on the interior. While I adore the polka dot print, the green overlay text kinda clashes with the pink background. That said, I still love the bag. My first bag is used for storing skincare bottles with leaky caps. This new one will join me on beach vacations.

Island Massage Company Sunny's Original Natural Sunburn Relief, 2 oz. - Value $8

This is an after-sun lotion made from aloe vera, olive oil, and essential oils. It can also be used as a daily moisturizer or leave-in hair conditioner. It applies very much like a facial oil. Once patted down the formula leaves a slight sheen. It's only minimally greasy and disappears after several minutes, so it's not a bother. I usually have a terrible sense of smell but I can easily tease out the lavender and peppermint essential oils. It's great that this lotion is not only soothing to the skin but also to my nostrils!

Verdict: This month's curation is cohesive and well thought out, but it's not my cup of tea. The total retail value is around $60, which is more than twice the cost of the subscription. While I got my money's worth, I only really like half the items (the bikini bag and after-sun lotion). However, this is an exception to the rule for me when it comes to LuxePineapple Post. I'm still excited to see what future months hold.

I liked most of this box except my Sunscreen arrived completely liquid (and no it was not over heated), and spilled almost entirely down my bathroom sink as I tried to open it. No seal!? I actually took a photo and was going to contact their CS, because I doubt they’d be happy doing business with a company with such poor quality control and I normally LOVE this company and their service, but never got around to it. Now I see that the formulation is inconsistent after reading this review.

The “SPF” arrived as a jar of liquid that never solidified. I also experienced the white cast on my face (usually caused by zinc oxide in a formula). I’m barely a medium skin tone so the white coating seems universal regardless of skin color. Even if it had arrived in decent shape, I don’t think I would have felt any more comfortable relying on this as sun protection. I liked the bag and someone will eventually use the lotion; the hair oil won’t be used as they are almost always a disaster for me and my daughters. This was consecutive months I’ve been let down by the products included. One more month if there isn’t dramatic improvement, I’m going to have to cancel.

Why is Luxe in the title? I dont see anything luxe about it.

I put the entire box up for swap, second month in a row that I’ve done that so it is probably time for me to part with this sub for the time being. I like that they asked customers what they want in boxes so that the curation can improve and be more consistent. Their dec box was excellent. Gonna keep an eye on it but sitting out for now.

Sunscreen is regulated by the FDA and requires extensive testing. I highly doubt this product passed expensive testing before going to market. Please do not depend on it for SPF protection!

My favorite thing in this box was the bikini bag. It’s so cute and useful and I didn’t have one already. The Hairphix and Sunny’s after-sun lotion are good products and I’ll use them up for sure. The facial organic sunscreen cream was a total bust. I’m a few shades darker than Nancy and the white cast she wrote about was very obvious on my skin. I wish I could have used it because it smelled yummy and had a nice consistency. This box felt like a continuation of the anniversary box because they both had summer themes. For example, the anniversary box had sea spray and this box had facial organic sunscreen cream.

A navy blue overlay would look so much better than the green.

This was my first month and I wasn’t impressed. I’m hoping June is better for me.

This wasn’t a great box for me either, I swapped everything but the bag. I wasn’t going to resub, but then they had a coupon and I had $10 off to use too, so I resubbed lol.

It’s kind of weird that they sent the exact same bag as last year.
