Orange-Glad-March-2017-Brochure-3

OrangeGlad includes a really beautifully designed booklet to accompany the sweets, that gives a little information on the individual artisans and the goodies themselves. This month the design was a bit different as far as layout goes - the size was the same, but instead of being stapled on the long side, it was stapled in the middle and opened up, instead of out, so to speak.

Orange-Glad-March-2017-Theo

Theo Hazelnut Crunch, 1.9 oz. - Value $3.00

This candy bar is 45% milk chocolate and contains hazelnut brittle inside. It is gluten and soy free (soy free is hard to find in chocolate!) and is kosher.

Theo Bread & Chocolate, 1.9 oz. - Value $3.00

This candy bar is 70% dark chocolate and has toasted bread crumbs inside. It also has sea salt added in. This is supposed to be a 'unique take on pain au chocolat."

Both of my candy bars came a bit melted. I let them set to harden, so I didn't make a mess before photographing. You can see on the back of both candy bars though that they were melted and re-solidified.

Flavor wise, I was underwhelmed with both candy bars. The Bread and Chocolate bar could have used a bit more sugar (or less dark chocolate) and the hazelnut was just average.

Orange-Glad-March-2017-Speculoos

Little Belgians Original Speculoos Cookies, 1.2 oz. - $2.00 (buy a set of 4 for $7.99 on Little Belgians)

Who doesn't like speculoos cookies? I do not know a single person. These are fabulous, as always. I do think I prefer Biscoff, but these were a nice change and they are gorgeous to boot!

Orange-Glad-March-2017-Little-Belgium

Little Belgians Vanilla Speculoos Cookies, 1.2 oz - $2.00 (buy a set of 4 for $7.99 on Little Belgians)

These were really great - all of the delicious flavors of speculoos together with the delightful flavor of vanilla was perfection. When we were in Paris this year, I bought a speculoos eclair - the flavors here were reminiscent of that!

Orange_Glad_March_2017_Alfajores

Traditional Alfajores - Wooden Table Baking Co., 2 cookies - Value $3.00 (buy a box of 16 for $24 on Wooden Table Baking Co.)

Alfajores are a traditional Argentine treat, made from vanilla cookies and dulce de leche. These alfajores are a little soft, which made it difficult to eat them without making a pretty big mess BUT they were so delicious! OrangeGlad and Wooden Table Baking Co. call the cookie a shortbread type cookie, which I think is isn't entirely correct. It is either not correct or it is a different shortbread that I am used to here in the states! It's a very soft, vanilla cookie - delicious, but not traditional shortbread.

Verdict: This month's OrangeGlad has a value of $13.99. I think that's really quite low for a $25.00 a month box, so this month was somewhat disappointing. I really did not enjoy either chocolate bar either, which was also disappointing. The cookies though were all delicious. I think having a value this low isn't going to set well with subscribers, but I may be incorrect!

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

I feel like they really phoned it in with this one. Orange Glad usually sends desserts- like baked goods- as opppsed to candy. With the two (disapppointing) candy bars being more than half the (low) value of the box…. it’s just really disappointing.

Wow, this is awful — I really can’t stand sub box companies that don’t send enough items to AT LEAST cover what you paid for the box! Not cool, not cool at all.

Worst box I’ve ever subscribed to. I barely enjoyed any treat, took 2 months and many emails to get a box while being charged multiple times. And the value is so low. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

With Amazon’s Surprise Sweets — which has a much better price/value combo for the same concept — this subscription doesn’t seem remotely worth it.
