Ivory-Clasp-March-2017-info-card

This is a very simply packaged subscription box - the purse comes in a non-marked box, and there are few accouterments! Ivory Clasp included a thank you note in my box.

They also included a card for Ivory Clasp, an advertisement for Elizabeth & Clarke, and a card from the brand of my bag.

Republic of Aces: Vicki Structured Tote Stone - Value $128.00

My bag this month is an open topped, structured tote. The color is like a taupe/gray color and it has two decorative zippers on the front. The fabric of the bag is pebbled - it looks a bit like saffiano leather (it isn't - it's PU).

This is the look I put together for church one evening! I paired my Linear by Rachel Riss Switch dress with my Cole Haan leopard print pumps and this bag. I got so many compliments on the bag!

Ivory-Clasp-March-2017-Detail

Here are the details on the front of the bag. The zipper color is very stark against the light color of the bag. It definitely makes a statement! These zippers are non-functional - they zip up and down but there is no pocket or anything that they close. They're just decorative!

Ivory-Clasp-March-2017-Back

The back of the bag is very plain - there is the embossed logo on the back at the bottom and that is about it!

Ivory-Clasp-March-2017-Inside

I love the lining! Let's be honest, though - I love anything black and white! The color of the bag works really well with the lining. Since the lining isn't all a dark color, it's easier to find things inside.

I will note that the tag you see at the top of the picture was very sharp when you reach into the bag and accidentally graze it! It will need to be filed down or will cut me up regularly!

Verdict: I was happy with my bag this month. I was a little disappointed that the top didn't have a zipper closure, but that makes this bag great for the farmer's market or something similar. Let's be real: since California has voted to get rid of single-use plastic bags, I'm more often than not using my purse as a bag, since I forget my reusables! This is perfect for that.

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

My first bag came today in a style/shape that I love and in a cranberry color. I usually always pick a neutral color but I love this new bag and can’t wait to wear it with my on so neutral clothes. I am very happy with my first bag.

It’s proved surprisingly difficult to order a bag from them. I’m still waiting on one I paid for March 8th; after emailing a couple of times they created a label on Monday, and as far as I can tell that’s all they did… just a label, sitting there in California, with no bag attached to it. I don’t think I’ll order from them again.

Second bag that no way matches my survey. I was so hopeful to get some cute bags. This second one was the sort of bag that would be okay for a young teen. I’m a 58 year old woman in the business world. All of the colorful bags and especially with spring, they could have selected a color that was seasonal. Both bags I received were beigh toned. No imagination whatsoever! Just blah. I like the vegan bag idea but not these. Plus the tissue paper was very crumpled so I believe it was a return. I just don’t see how this sub is going to make it. Lesson learned.

Me too; I got a plain beige cross body saddlebag type with a fringed tassel (I said I didn’t like fringe/tassels). I can’t believe it retails for 108.00. I wouldn’t of paid 25.00 for it. I’ll find someone to unload it on. Back to the subscription box drawing board. Ivory clasp “aint it”.

I got a really cute red bag as my first bag for galentines deal. The only thing is, I put in my profile Please no fake leather,,, and it was fake leather. So I am not keeping the sub, I am not sure I will really use the bag. Maybe a fancy date dinner… with my husband. That usually happens once every 5 years or so.

From what I’m reading, most of their bags are vegan leather. I don’t know if they use real leather at all. At that price point, I imagine it would be poor quality leather if it’s real. That thin stuff that chips.

I like the concept of fake leather, so am trying to like the product. I made an exception for this bag to see how it goes, because it is cute. It arrives today, so we’ll see.

so I guess I need a new bag or a fancier husband. haha

I got the big, puffy, quilted bag with fringe for my first bag with the Galentines deal. I sent it back and they are sending this one instead. I like the simple lines and color. (Thet were out of the Dolce Vita geometric one, sadly!)

I got the quilted one as well and IMMEDIATELY sent it back. I hope the new one is as nice as this one.

I got that bag and love it!

I like the bag you reviewed. I love zippers the zippers and the color is pretty. I ordered the valentine’s special and got the dolce vita fringe bag at first & was able to return it postage on them as I did not specify in my profile that I like that kind of thing. I printed out pictures of my likes and sent it with my return. My replacement came and I am very happy.

I got the same bag for my first bag and I do like it. It comes in handy for carrying lunch, books, tablets, etc.

I got Ivory Clasp for one month and my bag was awful. There is no way these bags are worth what they retail for. I can get something I choose myself for less than this at TJ Maxx. Also, I got a Coach on sale that is similar for $89. This service is so not for me.

I received the same bag! I don’t like the big zippers and the material at all so I don’t think I’ll give IC a second chance 🙁

Can you return a bag if you don’t like it?

Reply ButtonReply

jenn

yes, you can return the bag, but i did that once and it cost me almost $15 via UPS. i should’ve just taken my chances and put it up for swap. i’m very picky when it comes to bags, and gave them a list of preferences (no fringe, certain colors, etc.) and most of my bags have fit the bill so far.

my only wish is that if you get something outside of your preferences, (like if they sent me a fringe bag when i said no fringe), then i think they should pay for shipping it back… but i understand from a business standpoint they’d lose a lot of money with free shipping both ways from indecisive people.

i wish their business model allowed you to pick from 2 or 3 bags so there wouldn’t be disappointment or returns.

I feel like if you know you’re very picky when it comes to bags, then a subscription where you get sent a surprise bag really isn’t for you. If I were very picky about food and had a lot of dietary restrictions, I wouldn’t sign up for a surprise box of snacks every month.

HalliLikeBerry

I said that to them– that since they didn’t honor my preferences, I shouldn’t have to pay return shipping. They relented and sent me a return label. My second try bag is on it’s way now. Can’t wait to see what it is!

Zo

I received a Republic of Aces bag as my first bag. That tag is horrible. You can’t avoid it when reaching into the bag as it’s a small bag. I scratched my hand when I was checking out the bag. My bag isn’t my style so I won’t use it anyway. I’m going to redo my survey and hopefully get something more my style. I’d love a blush tote.
