Each month's kit comes with an info card.

WIN-Beauty-Kit-January-2017-Bag

This month's bag features a muted floral print. In fact, it is similar to last month's design. Like all W.I.N Beauty Kit bags so far, this one is lined with padded cotton.

WIN-Beauty-Kit-January-2017-3W-Clinic-Soap

WIN-Beauty-Kit-January-2017-3W-Clinic-Soap-Closeup

3W Clinic Exfoliating Soap in Jahwangsu Rosehip - Value $5.93

Subscribers received either Charcoal or Rosehip soap. I received the Rosehip one. The fragrance is a strong floral. It's almost too overwhelming for me. I think the cleansing action is great but my skin does feel dried out afterward. I'm also not a big fan of bar soap. For these reasons, this is a miss for me.

WIN-Beauty-Kit-January-2017-Missha-Bubble-Maker

Missha Bubble Maker & Face Sponge - Value $2

This is essentially a sponge that transforms face wash (whether it's a bar, gel, or foam) into lather. It is not meant to be used on your face!

WIN-Beauty-Kit-January-2017-Missha-Bubble-Maker-Closeup-Side

The bubble maker is made of mesh and contains small sponge cubes to assist with lathering. The bottom opens up like a flowy skirt or a jellyfish. I think this is quite fun to use since my go-to face cleansers do not create heavy lather on their own. That said, I don't see myself using this every day since it adds an extra step to my long skincare routine.

WIN-Beauty-Kit-January-2017-Skinfood-Scrub

WIN-Beauty-Kit-January-2017-Skinfood-Scrub-Closeup

Skinfood Black Sugar Perfect Essential Scrub 2X - Value $1.14?

This is a face scrub from one of my favorite Korean brands, Skinfood. The texture is firm and gritty, and it smells like a lemon bundt cake. Because of its thickness, the scrub is supposed to be used on damp skin. I really like this one. While it is gritty it doesn't feel harsh or abrasive. My face feels very smooth and pampered after use. However, the skin is not hydrated after use so I would recommend applying moisturizer immediately afterward.

It does not say how much is in the sample, but my guess would be around 10-15 grams.

WIN-Beauty-Kit-January-2017-Etude-House-Emulsion

Etude House True Relief Moist Emulsion 15 ml - Value $1.78

From my (limited) experience with Korean beauty, emulsions are generally lighter than creams and thicker than essences. This emulsion has a non-irritating formula that aims to soothe and replenish moisture in the skin. It is fragrance and alcohol-free. I like that the formula absorbs quickly and does not leave skin tacky. I only need a small amount to cover the whole face so this sample will last me a while.

WIN-Beauty-Kit-January-2017-Welcos-Mask

Welcos Jeju Natural Face Mask in Aloe - Value $1.50?

The mask type varies for this item. I received Aloe. This is a cotton sheet mask with ingredients unique to Jeju Island in South Korea. The mask fit is ok. It has extra material to cover the eyes if that is what you desire. The essence is cooling and my skin looks less red after use. Plus, it dries down to a matte, non-sticky finish!

Verdict: The estimated value for this month is $12.35, which is slightly below the cost of the subscription. However, my calculations do not include the value of the monthly bag. My favorite discovery is the Skinfood scrub. The Welcos sheet mask is a close second. Since the highest value item, the 3W Clinic soap, was a miss for me, my overall feeling for this month is just ok. Also, while I enjoy the curation as well as the brands W.I.N Beauty Kit features, the total value could be a bit higher.

I think they send out the prettiest bags and I’ve really been wanting to try Korean and/or Japanese skincare at an affordable price point so those two reasons alone make this subscription very appealing for me.

I have a Missha bubble maker. I don’t remember where I got it but I love it. Actually it is probably time for a replacement. Good thing they’re cheap.

You know what would be helpful in reviews? If we got an idea of the size of the products. Could the be photographed next to a phone or some other easily recognized item?

I take photos with my phone so that wouldn’t be possible, but coins would be good for smaller items. Thanks for the suggestion!

You could put your other hand in the picture, or a can of soda. That would really help with the size. Or a small ruler propped up (glued or taped to something).
