Max Your New B.F.F. sent out a few coupons in my last box, and included a few this month as well. I enjoy getting the coupons, but I rarely add them in to the value of the box. This month I received coupons for Nashelle and Chatbooks.

July's DIY - Mail a FlipFlop Kit - $3.00?

Max Your New B.F.F. includes DIY activities in their monthly boxes. This month the DIY was to mail a flip flop. I received a black Sharpie and a green flip flop. This is a neat idea, but I found it a bit lacking. Since there were no instructions (and granted, you need few instructions), I didn't know how much postage to purchase, and had difficulty writing on the flip flop or getting anything to stick. If you received this box, here's a pretty good tutorial on how to mail a flip flop!

Monkey Mat - $19.99

This company was featured on Shark Tank for this product. The portable mat is 5 feet by 5 feet, and zips into a small pouch that is very lightweight. I love the color I received! The fabric is as lightweight as they claim, and I can absolutely see how this would be handy for mothers with young children, or just anyone that needs a lightweight 'portable floor' to take with them!

I think this is a perfect inclusion for a summer box - this is exactly what you need for a picnic, outdoor sports events, or just laying out in the sun reading a book!

Otavea All Natural Strawberry Scrub - $8.00

I received this exact scrub in my April My Texas Market box. I loved it then and I still love it now! I am happy to have more of it, since I am almost out of my first tub.

This smells exactly like fresh strawberries. Keep in mind that the scrub needs to be stirred prior to using, and that there are pieces of strawberries in the scrub. The oils from the scrub were so moisturizing and the sugar is a gentle way to exfoliate.

Big Brother Can Cooler - $2.00

This was a kind of odd inclusion to the box for me. I don't watch TV, so maybe I just don't get why someone would need a can cooler from a TV show...

In any event, it's a nice size can cooler, and seems to work perfectly fine!

Verdict: The value of this box is about $32.99, which definitely exceeds the cost of the box. I think this is a decent box because the scrub and the Monkey Mat are something that almost anyone can use. If I'm completely honest, the can cooler and the DIY flip flop cheapened the box for me a bit, but that's probably just my own opinion.

Have you tried Max Your New B.F.F. (formerly Bakery 16) yet? What did you think of this month's box?

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

I’m not a therapist, but I think I’ll make a suggestion anyway:

Set your boundaries, Max!

Looks like the people who started this box just trawl though consolidator re-sellers or “gray market” distributors, and pick up whatever crates of stuff they can get cheap. Maybe they bought some lots in an auction without seeing what was in the crates first. The selection of products is definitely not curated. I suppose that a marketing professor would give kudos to the creative hack who figured out a way to get rid of the flip flops…

This reminds me of the Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome in that everything is kind of random, but the value seems much better on MMBoA.

Just a heads up for anyone who likes that Monkey Mat. Right now they have 2 on sale (colors hang tag blue and hang tag grey) for $11 and they have a free shipping code listed on their webpage.
Their website (on my phone so just could be a mobile thing) did not show the in sale ones when I clicked the link. I initially added their other blue one but when I saw the price was not $11 at checkout I went back and got to as of their mats.

Thanks for thus review! I will be taking this monkey mat to our state fair where seating is always an issue. Now I gave a comfy spit for the kids to crash that isn’t bulky.

I’m not sure about this box, feels kinda random. But I really like that Monkey Mat… especially for $11 and free shipping 🙂

A Big Brother koozie? I’m with you, Bekki- cheap (and random).

LOL, I don’t know about anyone else, but it would creep me out to receive a flip flop in the mail.

That is odd. What is the recipient supposed to do with one flip flop?? Seems like a waste that is just going to end up in a landfill.
