RUNNERCRATE _06challenge

RUNNERCRATE _07challenge

Each month Runner Crate includes a challenge for subscribers. This month's objective was to “Train your body to push hard during the later miles and slightly increase pace.” I love this aspect of the box! Subscribers who complete the challenge and post a video on Instagram and Facebook (and tag them, of course) are eligible for a Golden Ticket prize which translates into extra crate goodies. The last winner won 2 Yeti Ramblers and those things are with $24.99 EACH! Nice perk, Runner Crate!

Kakookies Pecan Apricot (2) - $4.00

I couldn’t pass up posting Kakookies' description,Pecans and apricot harmonize with a touch of chocolate and a hint of citrus. Packed with energy and antioxidants for a wholesome grab n go snack anytime of day.” Nice, right? I loved this cookie! It falls apart a bit easily but it has a nice apricot and oat taste- yum, yum.

Bacons Heir Pork Cloud - Value $2

I’m doing a low carb diet right now and this is one of the few guilty snacks I can eat. I’ve tried a lot of pork rinds because my husband loves them and I have to say these are some of the best I’ve tried. I’m buying more of these!

Skout Organic Blueberry-Almond Trailbar - Value $2.25

These trail bars are organic, gluten free, and non-GMO with naturally occurring nutrients. Plus they are sweetened with dates and not refined sugar which I really appreciate.

Tailwind Stick Pack Bundles - Value $2.29

These have excellent reviews and I was excited to try it but then I look up and it was gone… I’m going to hide my Runner Crate from my cyclist husband from now on!

Each stick pack is about 200 calories. Just add the pack contents to water and go! The resulting drink should aid with energy, electrolytes, and hydration.

Mile Marking Tattoo - $5.00

How cool are these mantra tattoos for a race! They have different sayings available on their website too. Wouldn’t this be a fun gift for someone running a race?

Runner Crate Tubular Headband - $21.99

Do you like my photos? I can’t help but laugh at myself sometimes which is a good thing since I look pretty ridiculous.

This headband definitely stays put and while there are lots of possible uses (as shown above), I have a hard time imagining this cost $21.99 though. I found a similar item for $7.95

Core Matters Recover Quick - $12.00

This handmade balm is made from beeswax, essential oils, neem oil, arnica, lavender, coconut oil, shea butter, vitamin E, grape seed oil. These are all yummy, natural ingredients and plus, we are huge fans of arnica for aches and pains.

Runner Crate Shoe Lace Stopper - Value $6.67

I put these on my daughter’s shoes but until now I’ve never used them myself. These are different than the lock laces I’ve bought before though. Previous pairs are much more elastic and arrived with instructions and unlocked so I could install them myself. These came with the cord clip already locked and without instructions which was a real bummer! I had to look online how to open the cord clip, find a flathead screwdriver to unlock the cord clip and then struggle to unlock the clip for a while. The cords aren’t stiff enough at the end to go through the holes in my shoes so it took forever to get the laces on. There is no way I will put the second lace on! It just isn’t worth the trouble. Maybe avid runners are skilled in this lace stopper area but even so, I wish they would have provided instructions for others who may not know how these work. These went in the trash.

Runner Crate July Bling

This is the “bling” runners receive for completing the running challenge in the box. I’m not sure what you do with this but if you add batteries it lights up.

Verdict: I think Runner Crate has the potential to be a really good subscription for runners and probably other sports enthusiasts too. I was happy when I opened the box and took out the contents. I liked all the food/fuel items and the Core Matters Recovery Quick. The problem was when I researched the price for the Runner Crate headband and then tried to use the shoe lace stoppers. Those two items kind of ruined the box for me. I’d prefer high quality (and fewer, if necessary) items in the boxes. The value would have been pretty good (if the shoe lace stopper worked better and with a better high ticket item) with the items worth $54.12 for the price of $35.00 plus shipping.

I was a subscriber about 2 years ago and due to what seemed like a declining quality in the products and consistently rough experiences communicating with them, I decided to let it lapse. It felt as though they had a larger customer base than they could handle. It was definitely not worth the $35+ a month. I was so excited for the first box…

BUYER BEWARE!!! Terrible customer service. My Christmas gift was short 1/3 of times and as of today I still don’t have them. I have reached out multiple times and haven’t gotten a response.

I subscribe to Stridebox, which is basically the same thing but only $15/month. They haven’t quite started a rewards program, but that’s about the only difference between these boxes.

Did anyone else notice that the wording on the sticker inside the box is a bit off? Lol

This was my first month with them. The full box should have come with a pair of Oofos that ship separately. They charged shipping for the box plus additional shipping for the Oofos. My box ended up being close to $50 with all the extra shipping. I received only one lace stopper (one is not useable) and no headband. Plus the box auto renewed before July’s star item was received, so I didn’t even have time to evaluate if I actually wanted to renew.

Hey Steph

We did charge extra shipping but that’s because they wouldn’t fit in the box. Please email us at [email protected] so you can receive another lace.

I’ve heard a few other comments on boxes missing items or having 2 of the same thing. I think they need some packing quality control. I, also, received only one shoelace, but when I wrote to them, I immediately received an apology and they are sending a replacement out. Their customer service seems great. This month wasn’t the greatest box, but I was very pleased with last month’s. Every subscription box seems to have an off month. As for the “bling” light up medals, they’re supposed to be rewards for your completing the challenges. They did recently send an email asking if subscribers liked them and wanted to continue receiving them, so at least it seems like they’re receptive to feedback.

My Dec box was missing 1/3 of it’s items. They said they would ship them but never did.
