Little Lace Box is a bi-monthly lifestyle subscription box for women. Each box is curated around a specific theme. (FYI – they also have another bi-monthly subscription called “Serendipity” that does not have themes, and it is sent out on the off months of LLB. So, if you subscribed to both, you would get LLB and Serendipity on alternating months.)

FYI – if you aren’t familiar with this subscription, make sure to check out our LLB reviews and comments on those reviews.

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - info 1
Each box comes with a letter detailing the theme of that box. This box the theme revolves around the idea of a “heavenly day.” They also made an effort to support and encourage some subscribers this month, too. You’ll see how next…

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - info 2
On the left, you’ll see some subscribers that they dedicated the box to - all who are struggling with major health issues in some way.

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - info 3
The rest of the info card has the list of items and details and values of each one. The blurbs about each item are pretty cute/funny, so you should be sure to read them!

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - items 1
They tossed in a couple coupons, one of which is a BOGO coupon for Sprinkles! Unfortunately, I live nowhere near one of those, though I see them all over Instagram and social media.

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - items 2
Wine FREEZE Cooling Cups by Host – 2 pack, value: $24.99

These are great cups! They are BPA-free and work well for all wines! We don’t drink, but these work great for any drink, really. My dad used to use big cups that were similar to this for his soda when I was a kid.

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - items 3
Here’s what the cups look like. You’re supposed to put them upside-down in the freezer or fridge! I really love that there’s a silicone part for you to hold so your hand doesn’t get cold!

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - items 4
I also love that they tell you how to make these work for both white and red wine.

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - items 5
Wine Tasting Papers – value: $16.99

These are cute. I won’t use these personally but I definitely appreciate the design and the typography. They’re a bit of a thicker paper, too, so they seem like good quality. These would be great to add to a hostess gift with some wine, or for hosting your own wine tasting or something.

Cello Whisps Pure Parmesan Cheese Crisps – 2.12 oz, value: $9.99

These are incredible. They’re literally just crunchy pieces of parmesan cheese! These are great snacks on their own, or would also be perfect on top of salads!

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - items 6
These are what the Whisps look like. And yes, unfortunately, this is before I ate any and (in true classic “bagged snack” fashion) it seemed at least half empty. And many of mine were broken up into crumbs. However, I’m not mad about that part at all because as I said, these will be amazing on salads.

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - items 7
Melamine Snack Plates – value: $16.99

Subscribers got these in either Jade, Amber, or Fire-Ball. These are the Jade ones. I have a set of melamine dishes that I got from Sur La Table and these feel exactly the same – sturdy and light. I like the color option I got, too.

100% Cotton Striped Restaurant Quality Napkins – value: $6.99

Subscribers received these in either Belize Blue, Gold, or Cherry Red. I wish I got the blue but the gold is beautiful too, and goes fine with the plates I received. These feel great, too. The quality is nice!

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - items 8
100% Turkish Cotton Beach/Picnic Blanket – value: $24.99

They said they picked this towel specifically because it’s really 100% Turkish cotton and not one that’s actually a blend trying to pass as such. This is gorgeous! I think this is one of my favorite subscription box items so far in all of 2016. It feels amazing and is really big! I got a Turkish Towel from a PopSugar Resort LE box a couple years back, and this is so much larger (and softer). Truly a blanket and not a towel!

LITTLE LACE BOX JUNE 2016 - items 9
Here’s the blanket laid out. I tried using my baby for scale but realize that it could also just make my baby look tiny (which he’s not. This blanket is an amazing size. I could definitely completely lay on this at the beach, and two people could totally picnic on this.

Verdict: I really loved this month’s Little Lace Box. I think they were very creative and exciting with their curation, and I’m excited to use everything (aside from the wine tasting sheets but I’m going to add those to a hostess gift). I calculated a value of just over $100 for this month, which is great!

I recognize that these comments are from months ago, but I’m so sad to see the lack of empathy and compassion some women have for others. I read so many negative comments on here where some of you feel that these box companies didn’t read your profile, or didn’t send you the right item to match your preferences, but then a company dedicates and names women going through rough times, or health issues, and that is getting too personal. It upset your mood while opening a gift to yourself. Really?? You all should be ashamed you would all rather read 100 messages about mascaras and red lippie mistakes than have compassion and say a little prayer for those that are less fortunate than you. I hope every woman on the list felt special and found a little inspiration to get through the illnesses they are facing, and realize that the average woman’s not too selfish to care about another. The most difficult part of any hardship or illness is not having anybody to talk to, or express your feelings or concerns because you might bring somebody else down. If you are going through hard times please express it anywhere you want even if it is a sub box comment section because not all woman need to know you personally to care.

Tracy O.

Leslie, THANK YOU!!!

I am the Tracy O. who’s going through BREAST CANCER (I say boldly as it IS October – breast cancer awareness month). Every woman who made a bitchy comment about the dedications made me think, “Wow. Aren’t you special? I would LOVE to trade lives with you right now. You can go through 8 rounds of chemo, lose your hair (eye lashes, eyebrows & yes, even nose hair not just the hair on your head), go through a 10 hour surgery whereupon they remove both of your breasts along with your ovaries because you have the BRCA1 gene mutation. Then you can go through 33 rounds of daily freaking radiation which becomes excruciating. That’s just the past 8 months since being diagnosed. I didn’t include the first month of tests & procedures they run you through before mapping out your treatment plan. Two biopsies – PAINFUL!

But hey, I’m so so very sorry if my dedication really bummed someone out. I know what a drag.

On another note …… why I loved this particular box from LLB is because the money used to pay for my year’s sub of it was given to me as a gift with the condition that I spend it on something “pretty for myself.” & I was able to donate the wine glasses & wine papers from it to a raffle basket for a foundation that helps women with breast cancer. Though I was broke, I was capable of a donation & giving back yet paying it forward. You have no idea how good it made me feel.

Breast cancer robbed me of a lot of things. Like I lost 75% of my income & the last 2 rounds of chemo gave me neuropathy in my feet & hands. So I lost the feeling in my feet & I have to walk with a cane now. I miss dancing & cooking. I miss my independence. It’s an isolating disease that tried to kill me. Yes, most days I’m blessed because I survived, but every once in a while, I’m angry or depressed or just not feeling the optimism today. Getting my monthly sub boxes gives me something to look forward to. Every month I read negative comments but this really took the cake. People bitching about dedications to women who are struggling with cancer, other diseases & the loss of a CHILD really?!?!?

I recently received my box, since I had been on an extended cross country trip. I wish I had received this before my trip. These items would have been great to take along. I was surprised to see my insert was completely different. Mine didn’t have the dedications or list of item descriptions (which I love to read). Mine had information about the Brand Partners Ravinia and Sprinkles Cupcakes on the front page with two inside pages of color product photos and the back cover had a poem called Heavenly Day by Patty Griffin. I received the yellow plates, red blanket, and blue napkins. I don’t drink alcohol, so the wine papers will be gifted or be added to a raffle basket for charity. I have tried the crisps from another sub box and they are delicious. This box is always like a gift. It has things I normally wouldn’t buy for myself, but that I like.

I was also one of the women on the dedication list. I’m sorry for anyone who feels like seeing our life threatening illnesses in print might have been a downer (imagine how we feel) but I think perhaps the intent of the box might have been lost. What was just a business for these women has become something that touched their lives deeply as they’ve gotten to know many of their subscribers on a deeply personal level. They wanted to honor all of us, not only the few mentioned, who are in the fire right now, and point to the hope of bright and beautiful days ahead. And if reading the pamphlet and opening said box lifted the spirits of a balding, withered, nauseated woman bogged down with an IV pole and oxygen tubes trying to chase an almost 2 year old around..(hypothetically) ..well. Maybe it isn’t too late for the lost intent to be found.

Jennifer, bless your heart for going through this while chasing a 2-year old around!!!! I’m stage 3 Triple Negative breast cancer (I have the BRCA1 gene mutation) going it alone. I can’t imagine going through this while worrying about a child! You’re Wonder Woman, girl!!! LOL

Jennifer

No way! I couldn’t imagine going through it alone!! You’re my hero. Choriocarcinoma with metastasis to both lungs and a kidney.
I’ll beat it if you will. ❤

*Steph, if you read this, my heart is breaking for you. I’m so very sorry. Please know that you’re in my prayers.

So I tried the blanket on my hammock today. It’s surprisingly warm for such a thin blanket. I was super impressed!

Really, a wonderful box!

I found the Crisps on sale at my local supermarket for $3.50. I only got one bag because.. I really can’t remember but I’m kicking myself as I type.

Hi Haley,

I received the Blue napkins and REALLY wanted the gold. I am not much of a computer person & never used the swap site but would love to trade with you if you want to.

Love your reviews!!

Reply ButtonReply

Patricia

I received the turquoise. Both napkins and blanket. I thought that they were suppose to match and was surprised to see that the ones reviewed didn’t.

Reply ButtonReply

Catherine

I got the lime green blanket, the gold napkins and the amber plates. I would love to find the plates in blue. I’m looking to trade for the turquoise blanket.

Reply ButtonReply

Catherine

Found the plates!! They are made by Carlisle and the pattern is called Mingle. You have to buy them in sets of 12 because they are made for the restaurant trade. They come in 6 colors and one is a beautiful turquoise!! I can get dinner size ones, can you tell I’m happy?

AmyM

Oh my goodness! The blanket is huge. I hadn’t opened mine yet because it was so nicely folded, I just put it away as is. Now I love it even more. I think this was a very well thought out box. Now I just need to make plans to use everything.

MemphisMom

I adore this box!!!! It’s terrific! All of the items are great quality (per usual) and great colors for me. I received the jade color plate. I only received one somehow, but sent a note to customer service praying they can send me one so I won’t end up with an odd number. I purchased 4 more from their shop. Can’t wait to use them at our lake house at the pool. 🙂 Love the wine glasses for sangria. And, I can dream up so many uses for this divine Turkish towel blanket. Super happy about this box. Not one item was a miss and it left me wanting to purchase more. Great curation!

Shelley

WOW…I love this box! I purchased the New York themed one but was a little disappointed. But this box is lovely–maybe I need to rethink about having a subscription. I think I am going to have to try and swap for this one…or at least some of the items! 😉

Reply ButtonReply

Catherine

I got a lime green blanket and was okay with it, until I got the email from them today to “buy more”…I saw the turquoise! Did anyone get the turquoise in their box?? Do you want one in a pale lime green? Otherwise, I’m going to have to bite the bullet and buy the turquoise!

Reply ButtonReply

Crystal

This wasn’t my favorite box, but it’s useful. I like and drink wine regularly but I can’t see myself using the glasses, even when picnicking. It would make more sense to me to put the wine in a cooler rather than have chilled glasses. My two cents anyway. We also exclusively use cloth napkins in my house and I thought these ones were so stiff and scratchy and I’m also disappointed that there are only two of them. Napkins are usually in packs of 4 or 6.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

I feel like it doesn’t really make sense for wine, but it DOES make sense for drinks with ice – like a Moscow mule. Nothing worse than drinking a Moscow mule on a hot summer day and ending up with it all yucky from the melted ice.

This box looks better from your review than I originally thought from the spoilers. I love the color of your plates and that beautiful blanket. I’m surprised at the color choices, though…it seems like many of the boxes I’ve seen have been more color coordinated. Also, I think it’s a bit strange that they “dedicated” this box. It’s a nice touch, but the personal details are a bit much for me. It sort of takes away from the fun-ness of opening the box. Maybe they could have just included a list of names. Not trying to be a grinch, but that would honestly be a turn-off.

Reply ButtonReply

Elayne

I agree with you, JL. I think the intention was great, but I think a list of names, without personal information for the dedications would have been more appropriate for a subscription box. I say this because, for a lot of people(especially those with chronic illnesses), these boxes are the only highlight of their month. I have Epilepsy, which kills 50,000 people annually, so I’m no stranger to illness or hardship. I can hardly leave the house anymore and, as silly as it may sound, subscription boxes are one of the few joys I have now.
Btw, Steph, I’m sorry for your loss; Tracy, stay strong. *hugs*

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

Elayne,
I apologize for my comment to Tracey O. about you not mentioning my name. It was meant tongue in cheek and I really didn’t think anyone else would be reading it. I’m overly sensitive these days and not quite myself and it came across snotty and I really hate that.
I’m so sorry about your epilepsy and truly hope you can find the right neurologist/med combo to give you your life back.
I do appreciate your kind words. ~ smile

JillA

I agree. Why are people sharing such personal information with a sub box of all things? Did LLB ask people to tell them their health issues (which would be odd/awkward) or did/do people just routinely tell this type of things to strangers/sub boxes (strange either way)? Somethings are TMI and are meant to be personal.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

That’s not really your call though, is it? Your comment is really insensitive given the fact that you have no idea how this all came about. Tracey O. just gave a very reasonable example that didn’t fit either of your suppositions and wasn’t “strange”. In my own case, I’ve become good friends with the owner of LLB through some contract work I’ve done for them. My friend knows about my life, and I hers. I don’t routinely tell strangers my health issues nor have the good people at Lit-Cube or Glowing Beets or my other subs received an email detailing my treatment.
The dedication was meant to uplift and inspire and it was a beautiful sentiment. If people choose to grumble about it, it might not be a bad idea to take a step back and just appreciate for a moment that they’re NOT on that list.

Tracy O

I “shared” by saying “oops chemo brain.” in an initial email I sent to them MONTHS ago & someone there had the heart & soul to remember.

So does that answer your question, Miss Nosey Rosey?

Steph

I like the idea behind the dedications, and believe it came from a heartfelt place. I had a significant loss this week, relevent to the first dedication and well, boxes are an escape for me, and reading that is such a hard reminder of my own pain. I hope that was a one and done kind of thing, because it really just made me sad, and sad for the people who are struggling. Though I truly believe it was done in love and kindness.

Reply ButtonReply

Tracy O

Steph, I’m so sorry for your loss.

These boxes have been my escape also since January. So you’re not alone there.

Tracy O.

I wept when I saw the dedications & my name. Ironically, my first outing since being disgnosed with breast cancer in January, is Ravinia on July 8th to see Duran Duran with my cousin.

@Tracy O hugs and prayers for you. I hope you enjoy your concert. God bless.

This box is growing on me! I still have everything in the box because at first I was swapping everything, but I’m slowly changing my mind. I got the same plates and napkins as in the review, but with an orange blanket. I was really hoping for the blue. It isn’t the most exciting box, but everything is useful.

Using the Parmesan crisps on a salad is a great idea!

I loved this box! The glasses work really well, better than I thought they would! The plates are very cool and I love that I can take them outside without worry about breaking. I honestly couldn’t tell they weren’t ceramic at first sight.

the blanket is very nice, and the perfect size to take to my hammock for when the fog comes over the Bay.

My first box and while I think it was ok, I think the future boxes will be even better. 🙂

So far I swapped the plates and napkins which I truly would never had used. The blanket is just like Haley said, huge and gorgeous! I got a soft pink, and though I have no immediate plans for it to be used, I just cannot bear to swap away such a wonderful item. lol
I am gifting the glasses and tasting papers to a friend who adores wine. I do not drink nor picnic but I still think I got my monies worth.

I also just signed up for serendipity, so excited! Been stalking that site waiting for it to open back up. lol
