Razor Caddy by Razor Saver - $19.99

Razor Gel by Razor Saver - $9.95

This is a caddy for your razor - the company claims that you can increase the life of your razor by 1,500% if you use it in conjunction with the Razor Gel.  That's a huge claim!  They have pretty decent reviews on Amazon, with reviewers saying that their razor lasts longer.  The process is: put the razor in the caddy, fill the razor caddy with the gel, until it comes up over the head of your razor.  When you want to shave, you rinse the razor, and wipe it on a clean towel (going with the blades, so you're not cutting the towel).  I tried the process, and it doesn't take that much longer than normal, but I can't comment on the efficacy of the process yet!

Billy Jealousy Travel Liquidsand Exfoliating Facial Cleanser - $6.00

This cleanser smells really fresh!  It is formulated with lactic acid, polyethelyne scrubbing agents, and sunflower glycerides.  There is quite a bit of controversy regarding the environmental impact of polyethelyne in cleansers, so I probably won't repurchase this one, but if you don't care about such things, this seems like a good option, and it has good reviews!

Billy Jealousy Combination Code Facial Moisturizer - 2 bonus foil packs

This moisturizer also smells quite fresh, and provides a nice amount of moisture.  I wouldn't use this in the middle of winter, but it's very nice for a light spring/summer moisturizer.

Sock Smith - Benjamin Franklin Socks - $10.00

Who doesn't want a stately old gentleman on their feet for a big presentation, or just a first date?  I mean, c'mon, these are awesome.  Just don't wear the powdered wig as an added accessory.  (These are really soft by the way, and seem like all around great socks.)

Brickell Instant Relief Aftershave - $13.00

This aftershave smells pepperminty, but they offer an unscented version as well!  I generally like my facial products to be fragrance free, just because I don't want to smell something strongly all day - but if it has to smell like something, at least it's peppermint!  This goes on very smoothly, with a bit of a refreshing feel (probably due to the mint).  It also has hyaluronic acid in it to aid in the moisturizing process.

Brickell Men's Products - travel size Shave Cream - $12.00

This shaving cream also smells fabulous.  It smells minty and fresh to me but one of the reviewer's on the Brickell website describes it as woodsy.  Whichever it is, it smells amazing.  The formula is very smooth and non lathering - which is great since lathering generally means drying!  It has glycerin and jojoba oils in it to moisturize and lubricate while shaving.  It is meant to be used without a shave brush, so that's one less thing to pack in your dopp kit!

Das Boom Industries - Everywhere Lotion - Detroit - $3.00

The scent on this is described as: tobacco, musk, and motor oil.  I am not a fan of the smell.  There are mixed reviews on the scent on Birchbox...some people love it, and some people have less positive things to say.  It did feel moisturizing enough, but I just can't stand the smell.

Swago Cologne for Men - $4.99

I received the sampler of all the different scents they offer:  VIP, Champ, Legend, and Gentleman.  I would describe this as the men's equivalent of body spray for women.  It's not super high quality smelling cologne, but it does the job for a short while.  The really awesome thing about these is that they're small-ish wipes, so you could throw one into your wallet for scent emergencies (like accidentally using that Das Boom lotion...).

SM7

Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm - Grapefruit and Ginger - $7.50

There are so many raving reviews about this lip balm on Sephora's website!  It smells absolutely amazing, and it really feels nice on my lips.  My husband considers everything that comes in a tube like this to be 'lip gloss,' so he'll have no problem with me claiming this one as my own.

Jack Black Hair Gel and Face Moisturizer - Bonus pillow packs

The hair gel smells great!  It is scented with grapefruit and ginger (just like the lip balm), and smells just as good.  It has mixed reviews on Sephora.  I'm stealing the face moisturizer pack from my husband for my trip to Vegas next week, but many of the reviews are positive, so I'm guessing it will be great!

VerdictTheSampleManBox I received has a value of about $86.43, not counting the bonus foil and pillow packs.  Everything seems to be super high quality, and definitely fulfilling their purpose: to expose their subscribers to a large variety of men's grooming products to see what works for you.  I also really love that they donate $2.00 from every box purchased to St. Jude's hospital!

We really enjoyed our first month of TheSampleManBox!  Have you tried it yet?

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

Just an FYI, I ordered this box with the coupon code and followed up about the free box after paying for the first box. They told me that I will not receive the free box unless I pay in full for two months first. These terms were burried in the fine print somewhere on their site and did not even show up on the order screen. You may want to make it clear that this is NOT a buy 1 get 1 free deal. I canceled.

Can anyone tell if this coupon works?/ when its appplied? The website is very basic and before you subscribe you fill out a “survey” where your code goes.. Yet in your “cart” you have no indication of it?

The 20th thing on the website is for a fathers day box? Is this code for that same special or another free box ?

This looks like a great gift box for a guy. Surprised at all the full size products too for a $25 box!

This is a good review so don’t take offense, but I’m thinking you guys need another man for reviews. (I love Eric but I’m sure he’s got enough boxes to deal with now.) Getting a woman’s prospective of these boxes is good but not great. I know we do the majority of purchasing this kind of stuff and sub boxes as well but I want to know how a man feels about the razor holder & gel. Just space taken up on the vanity or actually useful?

I need to know what the Everywhere lotion feels like to a man. They tend to be much more on the hairy side than women and lotion is a different experience when applied to a “hairy surface”.

If I find something I think my DH could use or would help him with some problem it’s easier to “sell” it to him if I have a man’s thoughts on the product.

Just my 2 cents here, but I see nothing wrong with a woman doing a review of a man’s box. I don’t think I’d learn significantly more if a man reviewed this, plus, if I really want a man’s perspective, then I can just show this review to my SO to get his perspective. Also, occasionally I’ll use something from one of his boxes (e.g. Baxter body soap), so it’s not like a woman’s perspective is meaningless. Again, this is just my opinion, but I thought this review was pretty good just the way it is (female author and all).

I disagree. You want a man reviewing Glossybox and Adore Me? This is not marketed towards women and I always find myself disappointed when I realize the men’s stuff is getting reviewed by a woman.

Thanks for the feedback – it is appreciated! 🙂

Thanks Liz. I realized I basically ordered someone not to be offended and I was appalled with myself. I should have at least added a “please” there.

And maybe it’s just me, I don’t know.

Perhaps Buckles might be available for a few reviews? Talk about having to deal with lotion on a “hairy surface”! (Sorry, I’ve become a huge Buckles fan since I’ve seen him with Eric in reviews. I think we might have a good foundation for a Buckles Fan Club here amongst the readers)

This box looks awesome! Plus I could use many of the items too, not just my husband 🙂
