PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX MAY 2016 - BOX

PUR Minerals periodically releases a mystery grab bag of full sized products, with a $100 value!

FYI – I recommend reading the reviews on the page for the Mystery Grab Bag. Looks like they are using this mystery bag as a way to clear older (still new) inventory. Just a good thing to keep in mind before buying so you aren’t surprised when it arrives!

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX MAY 2016 - ITEMS 1

PUR Minerals Perfect Fit Eyeshadow Trio in JetSetter – value: $26

This trio of colors is a classic combination for me. I’ve worn shades similar to this for years. It’s a nice warm trio that’s very flattering on a lot of skin tones.

PUR Minerals Angled Eyeliner Brush – value: $13

I have to be honest here. I’m not a fan of this brush. The whole thing is plastic and it feels hollow and lightweight. It can make a line, so I suppose it is functional. I just feel like you can get better quality-feeling brushes at that price.

Here’s a close up of the colors.

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX MAY 2016 - ITEMS 3

Last mystery box (in January), I felt that the colors were dry and difficult to work with. I’m happy to say that I don’t feel that way this time! These all swatched really nicely. The pigmentation isn’t amazing, but it’s definitely build-able (especially over an eyeshadow primer) and easy to work with.

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX MAY 2016 - ITEMS 4

PUR Minerals Pout Plumping Lip Gloss in Iced Pearl – value: $16?

This lip gloss is okay – I don’t think it does much for lip plumping like the name suggests. However it is a really pretty neutral pink that’s flattering on a lot of people.

PUR Minerals Lip Pencil in Raspberry Quartz – value: $14

This lip liner is okay. The color is pretty but the formula is super dry and soft – the top crumbled off a good chunk the second I used it. And the formula seems to emphasize dry patches on your lips, too.  I do like the lip brush on the end, though. That makes it easy to go from lining your lips to using your chosen lip stick right away.

Also good to know – this pencil and the eyeliner pencil do not twist back down after being twisted up. One of my biggest pet peeves with retractable cosmetic products!

PUR Minerals Eye Pencil in Midnight Sapphire – value: $17

This eyeliner is really pretty! I love the color. Sometimes blue eyeliners are so dark it’s hard to tell they’re blue. Not with this one! I’m a fan. Also, the formula was soft and glided well along my lid without pulling. I like the smudger on the end, too.

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX MAY 2016 - ITEMS 5

This is the lip gloss. Not much pigment, but it gives a good amount of shine.

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX MAY 2016 - ITEMS 7

Here I am wearing the eyeshadow trio, eyeliner, and lip liner. I think the lip liner went on a little patchy because of the formula, as described above, but other than that I was quite happy with the performance of the cosmetics!

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX MAY 2016 - ITEMS 8

As for the eyeshadow, I used the lightest color on my inner lid, then the golden color on my center part of my lid, and blended the darker color in the corners and crease.

Verdict: The value of everything comes out to $86. Not quite the $100 value they claim but I’m not mad because $86 is still awesome for $15. I’m much happier with this mystery bag than I was with January’s because I feel like, aside from the lip liner, the products perform better and are easier to work with. I’m happy have only tried a couple PUR Minerals products before (specifically, the ones in the last mystery bag), and I love learning more about brands and products I’m not super familiar with yet.

What do you think about my PUR Minerals mystery grab bag items? If you grabbed one of these, what did you get?

Their site is awful. It’s not loading. I wanted to check the status of my order, but noooo. LOL

I just got an email that pur has a mystery beauty bag for $25. It’s supposed to have a value of $125, but looking at these reviews, it seems the price just keeps going up for the same old inventory. Still tempted though!

I got the same bag but another small brush instead of the lip pencil and my gloss was an ugly bronze color. My eyeliner arrived broken and I had to email customer service 4 times before they acknowledged me and are sending out a new one. Not sure how I feel about pur after dealing with that!

I tried to buy it but sadly it says it’s sold out. The eyeshadow trio looks exactly like Pacifica shadows I received in ipsy bag.

FYI Pur Minerals is having a build-your-own box thing similar to what Tarte did a couple of weeks ago. It’s a banner at the top of their website.

It’s better than the last one. I pretty much tossed all the items in the last one. The eyebrow brush they sent was like a Brillo pad. Glad I skipped this one.

I was thinking the same thing! Haley, you always look so flawless in your beauty reviews. You do an excellent job of applying the products too.
