FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - info 1

My box also included an informational booklet that has details about each item, but also has some really cool features, like interviews with Jewel Staite (the actress who played Kaylee)!

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - info 2

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - info 3

Here’s the interview with Kaylee Staite. I love her character in Firefly, so I thought it was really cool to get to hear how much the show means to her.

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - info 4

There is also an interview with Maya Dinerstein, who is basically the best Kaylee cosplayer ever. I have to agree! However I think many cosplayers just have the right look/face for their cosplays, which helps tremendously.

I really appreciate that they did a highlight for cosplaying. Even amongst nerds and geeks, cosplaying is often looked at as that “next level” of geekiness, and even many geeks thinks its “too geeky” or “going too far,” etc. It’s unfortunate! People should celebrate what they love and the things that make them happy in ways they love. I think it’s cool they included this piece.

And finally, the information on each item featured!

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 1

Kaylee Little Damn Heroes Mini Master – value: $35.95?

I can’t find this exact one online for sale, but I did find a different version of this from the same company, so I linked to that. I think this little figurine is really cute. Photos below!

Kaylee Bear Plush – value: $25?

I can’t find this exact plush online so I don’t really know where to really set the value at. That being said, this is adorable! It’s wearing Kaylee’s outfit, which has a bear patch on the left leg in the show. Except this bear has a KAYLEE PATCH on its left leg!

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 2

See the Kaylee patch on her left leg?? How cute is that?

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 3

Here’s how the figurine was packaged.

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 4

And here she is put together! I really like it – I’m going to love having this displayed.

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 5

Kaylee's Shindig Parasols Drink Umbrellas, 5 pk – value: $5?

These are little drink umbrellas are designed after Kaylee’s signature umbrella. They’re cute, but I wish they included more! They’d be a great touch at a Firefly party or something.

Firefly Q Bits PVC Figures – value: $12?

These Firefly blind-boxed mini figures are a new product from Quantum Mechanix, so I can’t find them online, either. In fact, the Firefly crew is the first set of mini figures made from them! Subscribers received either Jayne Cobb or Simon Tam.

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 6

Here’s a peek at what all of the figures look like!

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 7

I got Simon! I love him. I would say that he’s also my favorite character but I just realized that every character of the crew is my favorite character. This is so cute!

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 8

There’s a minor imperfection on his hair here, but if I can’t find a way to wash it off, I may just use a sharpie to make the while part black and that way it’s not the only thing I see when I display it.

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 9

Firefly Founder’s Pin

Loot Crate sent this pin out as a thank you to the subscribers of the first Firefly Cargo Crate box! I think pretty much everybody got this pin sent out separately, before the crate was shipped (including Eric), so I’m not 100% sure why it was included in my crate instead of the “Everything’s Shiny” Cloisonné Pin that we see in our spoilers post and the info booklet. Maybe they ran out? Or maybe they included it in my first crate since I didn’t get it before hand, and I’m missing the cloisonné pin? I’m not sure.

Firefly Board Game Cards

These cards are made to be used in the Firefly Game, and they’re exclusives to this Cargo Crate. My husband and I love games, and I think this is a nice touch.

“Exported from Persephone” Sticker

Persephone is a planet in the Firefly Universe. I think this sticker is a cool little extra.

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 10

Here’s a better look at the cards that came with the box, in case anyone has the game and is interested.

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 11

Original Firefly Concept Art

This is a really interesting item in the box! I thought it was really thoughtful, and a creative and exciting difference from all the collectible figurines and such.

FIREFLY CARGO CRATE MARCH 2016 - items 12

There are 2 collectible concept art cards of early Reaver ship designs.

Verdict: I think this was a really great first Firefly Cargo Crate from Loot Crate! I think they picked some really interesting and cool items to include. And the value is also really nice – I know I had to estimate/guesstimate many things, but I come up with about $85 in value!

What do you think about the first Firefly Cargo Crate??

I really liked it even more than I thought I would, which is a surprise!

Weird about your pin, though. 🙁

So bummed I passed on it! I love that Kaylee figurine and did not realize it was a spoiler early on. Awesome box! I subscribe to so many nerd and geek boxes that I passed because I love Firefox, but not enough for a whole box, but the Kaylee figurine would have done it for me for this one. Oh well…

As for Cosplay, I really got a new found appreciation for it when I went to C2E2 for the first time a few weeks ago! It was the most amazing event and ridiculously huge! What made it even more fun for me was the legion of dedicated cosplayers! I was so impressed and it made for a super fun atmosphere. Comi-cons would not be half as fun without the cosplayers! In fact, even though I personally hate dressing up in costumes, I am feeling inspired by C2E2 to maybe give it ago for next year. Meanwhile I will check out the cosplayers at Wizardworld comic con in August!
