The Giving Keys Classic “Hope” Necklace – Value $39
I think a lot of MSA readers are familiar with the Giving Keys necklaces from
Conscious Magazine Issue 04 – Value $14
Conscious Magazine uses design and in-depth storytelling in its pages to tell stories of people making impacts around the globe. Expect pieces on the environment, refugees, entrepreneurs, and more. This is not really the kind of magazine you idly skim; it’s better to really devote some time to it.
The Created Co. Exclusive “Bloom” Mug – Value $17.95
Sadly, this arrived with the handle broken. (Since it was sent for review, I did not request a replacement.) There were enough small pieces (not pictured) that I can’t glue it back together. That’s too bad – I really like the simplicity of the mug. But it could’ve definitely used better packaging. This is a Causebox exclusive so I based the pricing on other items in their shop.
OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream (2 oz) – Value $44
Between this box and April’s Pearlesque Box, I will be all set with this product for a long time. It’s meant to be used as a facial moisturizer but I think I am going to experiment with using it on my forearms since they are going to be getting more sun exposure now as opposed to the last few months. (I also wear SPF of course.) This has algae and plant extracts that are good sources of vitamins and antioxidants.
Causebox Reclaimed Wood Frame – Value $20 (?)
The value here is a huge guess since this is another exclusive item. I’ve seen reclaimed wood frames online for under $10 and for over $40 so I tried to split the difference. Causebox is launching a series of prints that are the perfect size to put in this frame (and which can be easily switched out based on the season or your mood).
Christopher Craig + Causebox “Hope” 5 x 7 Print – Value $10 (?)
This is the first in the series of prints mentioned above. (I didn’t realize this was meant to go with the frame until after I took photos…) As an exclusive item, the value is again a guess. Sadly, mine arrived a little dirty. It probably should’ve been in a wax paper envelope or something for protection.
Shashi India Spice Blend – Value $19.50
I am stocked up on this for awhile thanks to Escape Monthly. We do make a lot of Indian food in my house since I am a vegetarian. This is nice in chana masala for sure.
Speak Your Silence Stitch Kit – Value $5
Speak Your Silence is an organization dedicated to ending the stigma of childhood sexual abuse. This is definitely an important cause, of course, but I am not sure that I would sew orange zigzags onto my clothes, which is what you are supposed to do with this. Although most or all of the items in Causebox are associated with good causes or social/environmental consciousness in general, this is one of those items that probably has more meaning to the people closely involved with the cause. On the other hand, it’s one of the lowest value items in the box.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $170 (give or take) for the Spring 2016 CAUSEBOX. This is definitely above the promised value for the subscription and it contains a good mix of items. However, it may not be for everyone (based on the comments on the spoiler post) – personally I was a bigger fan of the December box, although that may just be my own personal taste. (It also might be because I’m already familiar with a lot of the items from other boxes, so the novelty isn’t there for some of them.)
