Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review December 2015 - BOX

Wantable is a monthly subscription service that has 3 different plans: Makeup, Accessories, and Intimates. (Plus a styling service for Fitness wear and clothing similar to Stitch Fix in the try-then-buy model.) It’s one of the pricier subscriptions ($40 a month), but everything they send is full size, and they fully customize the boxes based on your preferences. You also can return individual items from any box for a refund.

Here is my invoice. In addition to the retail price of the item, they also include “your price,” which is how much you would get refunded if you wanted to return that item. (Wantable recently introduced individual item returns to their subscriptions. Previously, it was keep the entire box or send the entire box back for a refund).

You get to take a very detailed survey of what items you love, like and dislike. You won’t receive anything in your dislike list. Here’s how my personal preferences are set up.

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review December 2015 - items 1

FACE Stockholm Blush in Blissful – value: $20 (My Price: $9.20)

This blush is a bright, matte pink. It’s pretty pigmented so it’s best to use with a light touch. This is a little too bright to wear a bold lip with (which I love to do in the Fall and Winter), so I’ll probably stash it until summer. (swatch below)

Erin's Faces Double Sided Eyeshadow Brush – value: $25 (My Price: $11.49)

This brush is nice – double-ended means fewer brushes to keep in my bag. It has quite soft, synthetic bristles as well.

‘Tini Beauty Eye Cordial in Frothe – value: $18 (My Price: $8.28)

I received this product last month but in a different color, an olive green. I like this shade a lot, though, because I find it works better as an eye base and also works with a neutral eye look, which is my favorite.

Manna Kadar Lip Locked Lip Stain in Manna Babe – value: $24 (My Price: $11.03)

This lip color is bright! It’s definitely fuschia. I’m impressed with the pigmentation and it’s pretty moisturizing. I think it’s more of a gloss than a stain because I didn’t notice much color stained when I wiped it off. (Swatch below)

Here are swatches of the eye cream/base (top) and the lip stain (bottom).

Here, I’m wearing the blush, eye cream/base, and the lip gloss. The blush definitely needed some good blending out, and I probably wouldn’t wear it with this bright of a cheek with this bright of a lip (I’d probably wear something a little more neutral), but it works okay!

And a close-up. You can see the eye cream/base a little better here. I put it on and blended my crease and corner shades of shadow over it.

Verdict: This was a nice Wantable Makeup box! I love that I know I will wear and use everything. The value of this box adds up to $83.99, which is a value I’m happy with.

I think wantable makeup box is way over priced. I just got my $21 Boxycharm makeup box ( half the price!) & it had the same Manna Kakkar lip gloss & 4 other items, not 3. Plus my Boxycharm box was valued at $138 unlike Wantables $84! Totally recommend Boxycharm over Wantable.

The quality of want able seems to have greatly slipped I dropped the makeup line due to their not paying any attention of late to any preferences and very cheap brands ofra and model co are low quality

I agree. I unsubscribed when I started receiving items that were old. I once received a lipgloss that had leaked all over the rest of the items in the box. Model Co sucks and some of the other brands are really cheap. No thank you

Tini and Manna Kadar are both lower end brands that I really dislike due to poor quality. They pop up often in ipsy bags. The difference is that I only pay $10 for ipsy, not $40.

That said, Haley you have real talent as a makeup artist! It doesn’t hurt when you’re starting with such a pristine, lovely canvas ?

OMG, applying the makeup should be part of all makeup reviews now not just swatches. It gives me a MUCH better idea of what it looks like applied…if I were able to blend as well. I rush my makeup most of the time, LOL. You look gorgeous! I even like the strong cheek and lip combo–I think it’s a good sultry date night look.

Oh my goodness you are so gorgeous! I love how you show us you wearing the clothes and now wearing the makeup too, it’s so helpful!

I agree! Love to see the products “in action”, if you will.

Absolutely beautiful!!! I wish I could get my makeup to blend like that!!! You look awesome!!! They definitely sent you the right makeup!!!

I agree with the above. Seeing the make-up on your face is far more helpful than just the swatching on your arm.

I like Wantable’s makeup subscription because of the fact that it’s personalized to the extent it is.

Miss Haley, I lurrrrrve your make up in those pics. Would you mind telling us the other products you used? I’m obsessing over your eye make up! 🙂

Thank you, Jenna! The shade I used in my crease is Tease from Urban Decay and the corner shade is Busted, also by Urban Decay (I just got the Naked 2 palette and have been playing with it!). My eyeliner is from the Laura Geller Inkcredible 5 Gel Eyeliner Pencil set – I used the brown. I bought that from Birchbox! They’re retractable and have a great formula that is opaque, creamy, and stays really well. My mascara is Benefit’s Roller Lash (which you can also get through Birchbox’s shop). Hope that helps! =]

I just want to say THANKS! You always add that extra step and show the makeup and clothes on you which takes a review to another level. Also, I love your ability to explain why something works or doesn’t work helping the rest of us with our decision making. Brava!
