Treatsie Subscription Box Review November 2015 - 4

This was my second Treatsie box, and I love it!  They promise up to $25 of gourmet sweets every month, with at least 3 different vendors every month.  I like that - I think that there will be less of a chance of getting an entire box of treats that aren't your taste if the vendors are different.  From what I can see, it looks like 5-6 items is standard for this box.

Laurie & Sons Milk Chocolate Toffee with Maine Sea Salt - $6.00

Ok...I know I've said this a lot in our short time together, but oh MAN are these delicious.  These are everything delicious about Almond Roca, minus the almonds, which is a win in my book.  There are only 5 in this little bag, and I am torn between scarfing them all down in one sitting (currently, as I write this review), or savoring them.  As I reach back for one more...just to make sure they're good, that's all!

Tumbador Pecan Pie Caramels - $2.00

As I mentioned in my last My Texas Market review, I am not the biggest fan of pecans (It's not just pecans...I hate most nuts equally).  Because of that, I am not the best person to eat these caramels.  I am sure they are delicious, so they are being passed along to one of the pecan lovers in my life!  This company looks like they have many delicious treats!  Look at these Li'l Devil's Food Cake bites...I am 100% sure I would love those, and might just have to buy some for my own, I mean other people's, stockings.

Quince & Apple Apples and Cranberry Preserves - $3.25

This is the cutest little jar of preserves in my (vast) collection.  It's so tiny and cute, it's begging to be added to a gift basket!  'Tis the season!  Since I have an unspeakable amount of jam, jelly, and preserves currently, I am not going to bust this one open quite yet. I do intend to soon though, because the fact that they threw bay leaf in here, really interests me!  I want to see how that flavor goes with the others.  They recommend serving it with an assortment of meats and cheeses, but my favorite suggestion (outside of the camembert) is to mix it into apple cider for a warm drink!  I can't wait to try it out, and have to say that I've never considered making a drink out of jam before!

Velvet Rope Bakeshop Salted Caramel Apple Oatmeal Cookies - $7.00

I've mentioned this before, but I'm always wary of not-homemade-by-me-cookies.  Let's face it:  I have the unfair advantage of being able to cook and bake to my exact tastes and I'm particular about my cookies!  With that said, Velvet Rope Bakeshop hit it out of the park with these cookies.  They are sweet, salty, a bit crispy, and a bit chewy.  The depth of flavor gets more pronounced as you eat them for sure.  Any time you add sea salt to a cookie, it's automatically a winner in my book!  I am a huge fan of sweet and salty, and it looks like Velvet Rope Bakeshop is as well!  I mean, just look at their awesome sounding flavors of cookies: Rocky Road and Ghost Pepper, Habanero Peanut Butter...Yummy!

The verdict:  My estimated value for this box is $18.25, which is a little low, since it's under the cost of the box.  I know that this will vary month-to-month, so I do hope to see it come up a bit in the next few months (maybe with an additional item?), but with that said - I loved this box.  I think it was very seasonally appropriate - the jam seemed fall inspired, the pecan caramels are reminiscent of pecan pie at the Thanksgiving table, the caramel apple cookies bring back memories from childhood of caramel apples and fall days, and toffee always reminds me of Christmas for some reason!  I really enjoyed this Treatsie box, even if I will pass along the pecan caramels.  It is also worth noting that I had not heard of any of the products or brands previous to getting them in this box - I appreciate the exposure to smaller companies!

What do you think of Treatsie?  Would you have enjoyed this month's box?

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

Either there was a mistake with my order, or this review is extremely misleading. I gifted a subscription for 3 months, and the receiver got 2 tiny packages. One with 2 quarter-sized cookies and the other with a few caramels. For 20 bucks a box, this a ridiculous rip off! I wonder if they send you better, fuller boxes for the purposes of making the company look good. Because what I got is not comparable to this at all, and it’s only one month later! Feeling very swindled 🙁

CORRECTION** It was a welcome kit that was sent to my giftees, not the full subscription box! This must be why it was smaller. My apologies! I was quite angry when I thought it was the regular box. So, with a 3 month gift subscription, you get a little welcome kit before the actual 3 months of treats begins. Very nice!

I just received this (my first) treatsie box. The caramels were wonderful! The toffee excellent! The preserves looks to be interesting; but I am not so impressed with the cookies. I found them to be lacking flavor and very dry. Maybe (I hope) I just got a bad batch, as the other items were just soooo good. A good first impression.
