PrettyFit Fitness Subscription Box Review + Coupon August 2015 - booklet3

This month, I received a full color booklet with information about the products in the box as well as a short ab workout routine. Please note that the prices listed below will differ from the ones in the booklet, since the booklet lists MSRP and you can buy a lot of these items for less than MSRP online.

The box it arrived in was plain cardboard. There wasn’t any packing material, as you can see from the photo above, but it wasn’t really necessary to include any because of the types of products in the box.

PrettyFit Fitness Subscription Box Review + Coupon August 2015 - addins

Celsius Berry Stick Packs (2 sticks) – Value $1.71

These Celsius Berry Stick Packs are meant to be dissolved in water and are a negative calorie beverage. I am saving these for a day (or days) I really don’t want to work out. Be careful if you are sensitive to stimulants or have high blood pressure as these contain green tea extract, caffeine, and guarana.

VitaPerk Coffee Boost (4 samples) – Value $2.85

VitaPerk has 15 different vitamins and minerals to give your coffee a boost. I am not a coffee drinker but I do drink a lot of tea and these seem to be working as tea additives just as well.

PrettyFit Fitness Subscription Box Review + Coupon August 2015 - superfoods

MacroLife Macro Greens (1 serving) – Value $0.66

MacroLife Miracle Reds (1 serving) – Value $0.64

This is the sort of thing I throw into smoothies (along with almond milk, hemp protein, raw cacao, maybe a little matcha, and some frozen fruit). Because of all the other ingredients, I couldn’t really tell if there was much of a taste or texture for either of these.

Both are raw, gluten free, vegan, and non-GMO, and both contain a variety of antioxidants and probiotics. If I had to choose between them, I’d go with the green because, being totally honest, I don’t like to eat a lot of green foods, but I generally love red foods, so I probably *need* the greens more…

PrettyFit Fitness Subscription Box Review + Coupon August 2015 - tea

CogniTea (3 pack) – Value $6

This is black tea that also contains guayusa, yerba mate, goji berries, peppermint, ginseng, ginkgo, matcha, guarana, and peppermint and is sweetened with stevia. I drink hot tea all the time and am saving this for afternoons when I get sleepy at work. You are supposed to brew it for a long time (greater than 10 minutes), which is no trouble since I frequently forget to remove tea bags.

PrettyFit Omega (60 ct) – Value $39.99

There’s no link to this one because it doesn’t seem to be available in the PrettyFit shop. Unfortunately, since this is fish oil, I won’t be trying it (I’m a vegetarian). I do recommend supplementing with DHA and EPA omega 3s, as they really helped me reduce my triglycerides level and LDL. (If you are vegan or vegetarian, try Ovega-3 or Deva Vegan Omega-3 for DHA and EPA instead.) I’ll pass this on to someone else.

Note: If you are vegan, this subscription is probably not for you, as a lot of the protein supplements are whey-based. If you are vegetarian and are concerned that $40 of value comes from fish oil, remember that you are allowed to preview the contents and skip months and/or choose alternate packs for a month. So if there was another pack that you really enjoyed that’s still available, for example, you could get another one of those.

PrettyFit Fitness Subscription Box Review + Coupon August 2015 - vitamins

Optimum Nutrition Opti-Women (60 ct) – Value $14.99

This is a multivitamin with a few extra ingredients, which appear to be things normally found in weight loss supplements (Garcinia cambogia, Uva ursi, horse chestnut extract, Dong quai, etc.). I am not much for weight loss supplements, to be honest (I think there’s a lot of quackery out there), but I will probably give these a try when I run out of my regular vitamins. (They’re in Vcaps so they’re safe for vegetarians.)

Nuline Nutritionals DSpeed (60 ct) – Value $14.95

These are dissolvable vitamin D tablets. I’m saving them for winter when there’s less sunlight (since the UV from sunlight converts a vitamin D precursor to the active form of the vitamin).

Note: A lot of the products this month have a lot of vitamins and minerals in them. If you are looking for a new multivitamin or a different way to take vitamins, this is definitely a good way to try some things out. Just please don’t try all the products on the same day! It is possible to overdose on certain vitamins, including iron, vitamin D, vitamin A (in non-beta-carotene form), and some B vitamins, among others. (This is one reason I haven’t tried all the products yet.) Negative effects usually build up with extended overuse for weeks or months, but in general, I try to stick to about the levels of each vitamin per day as you’d find in an average multivitamin.

PrettyFit Fitness Subscription Box Review + Coupon August 2015 - coupon

This box also came with a coupon code for VitaPerk. I didn’t black it out because it appears to be totally generic.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $82 for this PrettyFit box. That’s almost exactly what PrettyFit says (they advertise over $80 in value, which is true even if you don’t go by the MSRPs listed in the booklet). This subscription tends to alternate between protein powders/supplements and vitamins, but may still be a good fit if you like one of those categories but not the other, since you are able to skip months and choose previous months’ packs. Although there are some sample packets here, I like that there were a few full-size items as well. Especially with vitamins and supplements, you may need some time to figure out if they are going to work for you.

Hey Ragan! I actually take the Opti Women & have for some time as my go-to multi. Word of caution is to please make sure you don’t take on an empty stomach. I feel so nauseous when I take it without food. Oh, and your pee will be neon yellow! Lol. Otherwise I feel fairly confident in recommending it to people.

I have heard some weight loss supplements can cause upset stomach, so I would guess that was what was going on, since these combine vitamins and weight loss supplements. Thanks for the warning. The changes in urine color are probably from high levels of B vitamins (in this instance, most likely harmless, as long as you don’t take additional B supplements outside of this one).

I used to have a subscription to Pretty Fit. The products tend to be a bit repetitive, but if I like the items that is fine with me (and if I didn’t or still had too much from the last time the item was featured, I would skip). Unfortunately, a lot of what I was getting was not appropriate for pregnant/nursing moms and there is no way to tell when choosing whether to pick or skip, so I cancelled when I became pregnant. I will probably sign up again once I stop nursing.

Yeah, pregnancy/nursing is something I never think about because I don’t have (or want) kids. I would assume most supplements are not safe during those times (a lot of them aren’t tested so it’s best just to avoid, out of an abundance of caution). Even a lot of the protein powders sneak in extra ingredients.
