MunchPak Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - Card

MunchPak includes a card signed by the person who packed your box. Keep in mind that boxes vary between subscribers, so your MunchPak might be completely different from mine!

On the card, there’s information about how to customize your box. Using their online portal, you can select ingredients as “preferred” or “non-preferred.” While this does not guarantee that those snacks will or will not be sent, it increases the likelihood that your box will suit your particular tastes. MunchPak charges $1 per customization request per delivery. So, for example, if you want to avoid “Seafood” and “Meat” snacks, each box will cost an extra $2.

MunchPak Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - Tayto

Tayto Cheese & Onion Crisps (25 g.)- $3

Cheese & Onion is a popular chip flavor in the UK and Ireland, and I don’t know why we haven’t adopted it in this country yet- it’s great! I really like Tayto chips (I’ve received them a couple of time in MunchPak), and the Cheese & Onion flavor doesn’t dissapoint.

Tayto Chipsticks (28 g.)- $2

More Tayto! I’m a fan of salt & vinegar chips, and these crunchy potato sticks have a bold flavor that I really like.

It’s often difficult to find pricing and product information for international snacks, so for these products (and several others in this review) I’ve linked to the MunchPak store. Many of these prices seem inflated to me, though, so keep in mind the snacks might be available for less elsewhere.

MunchPak Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - Croissant

Elvan Strawberry Croissant (55 g.)

Elvan is a Turkish company that makes a variety of chocolate, candy, and packaged baked goods. I’m not sure I’ve ever received a packaged croissant in a subscription box before, so this is a fun first. My husband snagged it and heated it up for a few seconds in the microwave before eating it alongside his morning coffee. He was nice enough to give me a taste, and I thought it was pretty tasty. (Though, for me, I don’t think a packaged croissant will never be able to compare to a freshly baked one. The crisp, warm, and flakey layers of a hot-out-of-the-oven croissant just can’t be beat!)

Big Thunder (1.26 oz.)- $2

Big Thunder has to be my favorite treat in this month’s box! It’s is a crisp, flat, and dark chocolate cookie that’s covered in a coating of milk chocolate. The flavor is rich, chocolaty, and delicious. It’s also fun that I can’t eat it without thinking about this.

MunchPak Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - Karamela

ETi Kaymaklim (180 g.)

ETi Kaymaklim cookies are chocolate-filled biscuits- another product of Turkey! The filling has a nice cocoa flavor, but, overall, I don’t think these cookies are really anything special. I’m sure they’ll get eaten, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy more.

Pionir Karamela Lesnik (3.5 oz.)

Karamela Lesnik candies are soft, hazelnut toffees that are melt in your mouth tasty. They’re made in Serbia, and, according to the Pionir website, they’re loved by kids and adults alike.

MunchPak Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - Festy

DalColle Super Milk (40 g.)- $1

This snack is like a little layer cake, and the “Super Milk” refers to the creamy drizzle on top and the filling between the layers. It tastes a bit like a Little Debbie snack cake, I think.

Festy Strawberry (1.22 oz.)- $1

A couple of months ago, I received Vanilla Festy Cookies in my MunchPak and really liked them. These are okay, too, but I prefer the vanilla.

Canasta (23 g.)- $1

Unfortunately, this is another cookie I think is just so-so. The chocolate has a hint of bitterness that I like, though.

MunchPak Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - Puccho

Puccho Melon Stick (Two 1.76 oz. packets)- $8 ($4 each)

I’m not sure whether or not it’s a mistake that I received two Puccho Melon Sticks, but I’m not complaining! The chewiness reminds me of Hi-Chew, and I love the sweet melon flavor.

Pei Tien Energy 99 Sticks- $1

I honestly don’t know what to make of this snack- it’s unlike anything I’ve ever eaten! It’s sweet, savory, crunchy, and… I think I like it? According to MunchPak, it’s a “Japanese style healthy snack bar.” I’m not too sure about that because, to me, it tastes more like an undusted Cheeto puff. Adding to the intrigue is the fact that it’s “Egg Yolk Flavor.” Fascinating!

Verdict: I really enjoy receiving boxes from MunchPak, and I think they do an excellent job introducing me to new and unusual international snacks. I’m not crazy about some of the cookies I received this month, but I love the Puccho Melon Stick, Big Thunder, and the Tayto chips. I can’t do a value breakdown for this box (since many of the snacks are not listed for sale online), but I think the $19.95 price per month is fair. I enjoy the personalized curation, and I always have a great time discovering new snacks from around the world.

The MunchPak I received included no information about the products in the box and the website had little more to offer in that regard. This proved difficult because very few of the products had any information in English written on them. In addition, the company failed to honor the customizations I paid for. I would not recommend this subscription.

Amy

I’ve been thinking about getting a MunchPak to try. Do they provide the nutritional information or list of ingredients?
