Send Me Gluten Free Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Envelope

Send Me Gluten Free Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Coupons

Each box comes with an envelope that contains coupons for many of the month’s featured brands. There’s usually at least one coupon for a completely free product, which adds to the value of the box. This month, there are coupons for a free Sabra product and a free Gorton’s Fisherman product.

Send Me Gluten Free Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Breton

Dare Breton Original Crackers with Flax (4.76 oz)- value $3.28

We eat a lot of cheese in my house, so crackers are always a welcome sight in subscription boxes. I like these a lot. They’re light and crispy, and, if I tried them blind, I wouldn’t know they were gluten free.

Send Me Gluten Free Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Pita

Toufayan Scoopable Pita Chips (6 oz)

I couldn’t find a price for these online, but I would guess they’re probably in the $4-$5 price range. Hummus is one of my favorite snacks, so I’m always happy to receive pita chips. I’ve never seen scoopable pita chips before, I don’t think, so these are a fun discovery. They’re vegan, gluten free, non-GMO, oven baked, all natural, and contain no cholesterol or trans-fats.

Send Me Gluten Free Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Luna

Luna Minis in Chocolate Peppermint Stick (.81 oz)- value $1.11

I’ve received a few Luna bars in subscription boxes recently, so I’m not all that excited to get another one. Still, I know it will get eaten.

Walkers Gluten Free Shortbread Rounds (30 g.)- value approximately $1

I’ve also received a couple of Walker’s products in boxes recently, but this is the first time I’ve gotten their gluten free shortbread. I didn’t even realize they made a gluten free version of their cookies! These are delicious and taste almost exactly like the original.

Send Me Gluten Free Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Smarty

Smarty Pants Vitamins (1 packet Kids Complete and 1 Packet Adult Complete)- value $3.06

I take gummy vitamins every day, but I usually just buy the generic Target brand. I’m happy for the opportunity to try the brand name version! I also like that Send Me Gluten Free has included a sample for both adults and children.

Send Me Gluten Free Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Peanut Butter

Earth Balance Natural Peanut Butter with Flaxseed (1.1 oz)- $.20

Earth Balance Natural Peanut Butter is vegan, non-GMO verified, and gluten free. This variety is also made with flaxseed and lightly sweetened with agave. It’s also no-stir, which I appreciate. I like natural peanut butter, but I tend to get annoyed when it separates.

Bare Belly Organics Sunscreen Face Stick SPF 34 (.15 oz)- value $1.59

I’m happy to see that Send Me Gluten Free included an organic sunscreen in this box. With summer on the way, this is a product I know I’ll use. It offers UVA/UVB broad-spectrum protection, is 80 minute water resistant, and comes in an easy to apply tube. There’s also a coupon for 10% off your first order from Bare Belly Organics.

Send Me Gluten Free Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Slender

Slender Sticks (2 sticks, 4 g. each)- value $.72

Slender Sticks are flavored, low calorie drink powders. Each stick has 15 calories, is sweetened with BetterStevia, and contains 50% or more of 9 daily vitamins.

Send Me Gluten Free Subscription Box Review – May 2015 Goddess

Sauce Goddess Original Super Chunk Spice Rub- value $.50?

Super Chunk is an all-purpose seasoning that’s a blend of fennel, thyme, and garlic. It can be used on chicken, fish, and vegetables, and it smells great. (It’s packaged in a zip top baggie, but I can smell it through the packaging!)

Verdict: I really like the variety of products included in this month’s Send Me Gluten Free. All of the food items I sampled were good, and I like that they included sunscreen and a spice blend. The value of this box comes to about $25 (including the value of the coupons for free products, but not the value of the other coupons), which breaks even with the month to month cost of the box. It’s important to note that a significant portion of the box’s value ($10) comes from coupons for free products. I’m not a very successful couponer (I always seem to lose or forget them), but I’m going to do my best to hold onto these. (If anyone has any tips for coupon storage or organization, please share them below!) If you’re interested in subscribing to Send Me Gluten Free, make sure to use coupon code GETHOOKED. With an annual subscription, the coupon code brings the cost down to just $15 a box!

Do you know if you can specify any other allergens for this box? Or any preferences at all?

Hi Kristi! The SMGF website states that they hope to offer boxes in the future that cater to other allergies, but I don’t think they offer any customization at this time. I hope that helps!
