How to get subscription boxes for free

I was totally stoked when I first learned a few years ago that free subscription boxes exist. As someone who was completely new to the subscription box scene, I couldn't help but want to try out as many different boxes as possible to figure out my niche. It seemed like many of the leading brands across all subscription categories were offering free boxes and out-of-this-world deals.

However, due to the soaring popularity and ever-growing demand for subscription boxes recently, most of these companies took a major step away from their original offerings. Now, trying to find a legitimate free subscription box has become the equivalent of finding a needle in a haystack. What once only took one or two clicks to discover turned into digging through dozens of pages on Google for hours on end - just to find almost nothing worthwhile.

Luckily, there are still a handful of subscription services that offer your first box for free, or at least offer a free trial period. Not only that but there are also a few sites that will send out free sampler boxes, many of which don't require you to pay shipping fees.

Here, we'll take a look at the best free subscription boxes that are available today along with other brands that offer free trials, free sample boxes, and more. While not all of these options are technically free subscription boxes, they're still worth trying if you love sample-sized goodies or want a subscription box test run.

Check out our PINCHme reviews to learn more about what to expect when you sign up!

Sampler Box

About the Box: Every month, Sampler allows you to try various samples from major brands that correspond to your specific tastes and preferences. It offers everything from drinks and beauty products to makeup and snacks. Sampler is very similar to other free subscription boxes, but they’re one of the very few that actually tailors its samples based on your feedback.

Something to keep in mind is that Sampler occasionally works with brands that require a small shipping and handling fee to cover shipping alone. Usually, this is only for full-size products and you can decline these offers. However, prices are similar to, or less than, most cheap subscription boxes.

I'm a SAHM of 2 under 2 who's on a mission to discover the best subscription boxes for women and children. On the off chance I'm not chasing after my kids (or breaking up a looming brawl between them and the cats), you can most likely find me training in the pool, sipping on an Americano at my local coffee shop, or hiding in our spare room to catch up on my favorite podcasts.

Is anyone of you people on here asking for followers even listening??? They are trying to tell you that these companies won’t give you anything for free! There are sooooooo many people trying to do this. You’ll find out like we all have…they don’t care about your reviews and neither does anyone else. This niche is oversaturated and just a dying industry. Sorry

This is just a tip everyone to watch out when trying out the “risk free” Nadine West subscription! I went on their site through the link on this website (completely not Subscription Addictions fault) and made sure it said risk free and it did when I was signing up! They still charged my card after for the styling fee so it was completely false and if I hadn’t checked would have never known! So please be careful with this offer and others that are supposedly free!

Jody

Hi! I am part of a small group of Mom’s & Dad’s who all have older children that were born with unusual/rare disorders that have left them physically &/ or developmentally disabled. Although our children bring us unimaginable joy & happiness, it has been a rough ride. As we ( & our “kids”) get older it’s become worse & very frightening- most of us do not have anyone we can leave our children with once we are gone.So they can continue to enjoy at least some of the things they enjoy- like cell phones & cell service, computers & laptops, etc. we must leave money in an irrevocable trust- the state will only allow them about $2000.00 per month- most of which goes to whatever agency they are placed with. Essentially, they will have a bit over $20. 00 per month & that will need to cover all personal needs- shampoo, deodorant, clothing, etc. Any “ extra’s” like entertainment will only come from what is in their trust & most of us have very little to save for it, since it is so difficult to manage on one income. I can not describe how terrifying this is- it is like torture by proxy. Most of the Mom’s have been unable to work since our kids have been born. For instance I am a nurse, but we have received only a small amount of hours each week of unskilled nursing. It makes no sense for me to hire a licensed nurse so I can work- I would essentially be handing over my pay to the nurse I hired. Today, most families need two incomes. A few years back we began pooling our money to purchase some of the most popular boxes to use as raffle prizes at fundraisers we hold. They are incredibly popular & we sell a lot of raffle tickets for them. Do you think there is a chance that if we reached out to them- subscription box companies- they would consider donating some boxes? I can’t possibly fully explain how frightening & frustrating our situation is. To make matters worse, I have 2 cousins who became pregnant at 15 & 16 respectively- they have received an awful lot of money over the years, including ( as last I know) a $7000.00 yearly supplement for clothing & other needs, in addition to the regular amounts they receive. Each year- NO exaggeration , they have used that money to take trips to Florida or Hawaii. They have also had educational opportunities ( hair dresser, nail technicians, etc.) & they quit each time, with the social worker telling them not too worry- they can try again next year. This is all paid for by the taxpayers .They have done this repeatedly with no consequences. It is awful that we pay taxes for these types of shenanigans when I am unable to work. My husband & I did the right thing & were educated, had good jobs & waited until we were fully settled before starting a family & these girls (& many others, I’m sure) get benefits for doing the wrong thing. There is no “ welfare” for folks like us. Sorry for the rant- it felt good to get it off my chest! It would be so very helpful to have a few boxes donated as raffle prizes. What do you think? Any chance they would consider it? Thanks all & again, sorry for the rant. Jody

I can help you find Subscription Boxes for FREE. The most you’d have to Pay out of pocket is shipping fees. I’ve read many of these Free subscription sites & there are so many companies left out but probably because they want to stay this way. You can email me and also send a friend request to Jessica Black in Waycross,GA. I hope to help you in the future. Good Luck!

Jody,
How hard this must be for you and the others in your group! My suggestion would be to let folks know (I’d start with the swaps page here) you are interested in items they don’t want from their boxes. You could then put together your own boxes or baskets for your raffle. My grandsons’ preschool auctions baskets full of goodies a couple times a year and raise a good bit of money.

I am disabled with a head injury and cannot work mostly due to short term memory loss. I am not having luck getting donations for a box even offering a free link to their website. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the tips Liz!! I actually do written reviews for sub boxes and actually before I finished ur tips list I was thinking to myself I wonder if companies would send me boxes since I only do written reviews or instagram and you kinda answered that for me:)
I used to be a model a few decades ago😪 so my image is actually still owned by a few companies but I finally got the ok to do subscription boxes!! Before I wasn’t able to take pictures with me in them so I went the next best route and wrote. I think I know just about every product there is and probably used them all too lol. But I’d love to actually take pictures and review subscription boxes since I’m such a huge fan and I also know what really works and what’s an overpriced over promoted useless product but have a way of writing it that makes it not sound like I’m calling the product junk. I’m glad I ran across your article because I really wanted to start doing reviews on Instagram. Now let’s see if my charm works and I can get some free boxes lol. Any tips on charming these companies into believing that you’re the perfect person to review their items?!? Lol 😉
