Formio Subscription Box Review – September 2014

Formio Subscription Box Review - September

Formio is a jewelry subscription service that sends you four accessories and a clutch with every package. When you sign up, you create a “wish list” of accessories and purses to receive in your subscription. You can wear your accessories as long as you like, and then pay for what you want to keep and send the rest back in a pre-paid return envelope.

Because each subscriber’s selections are so personalized, my Formio box will be different than what other subscribers receive. You can see Formio’s complete catalog of accessories here.

Formio sent us this box for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Formio Subscription Box Review - September 2014 Items

The Subscription Box: Formio

The Cost: $18 styling fee per month, keep items as long as you like, plus the cost of whatever you choose to keep.

The Products: 4 accessories and a clutch

Ships to: US

Formio Subscription Box Review - September 2014 Necklace

Vivre Collection necklace, Shooting Star – value: $28

This necklace is the free gift with subscription by using the code GWPMSA. It’s a pretty, simple, rose-gold necklace just for our readers!

Formio Subscription Box Review - September 2014 Purse

Versaille Collection Clutch: Midnight Velvet – retail value: $78, cost to keep: $52

This clutch is made of black velvet, and the chain is actually gold (I know it’s hard to tell from the lighting). For day-to-day, I prefer to carry larger purses, but it’ll be nice to have this clutch for special occasions, and the velvet works well for Fall and Winter coming up.

Formio Subscription Box Review - September 2014 Necklaces

Manhattan Collection Necklace, Galleria Mod – retail value: $46, cost to keep: $26

Manhattan Collection, Upper East Sider – retail value: $79, cost to keep: $48

I like both the necklaces, but my favorite is the Galleria Mod necklace – simple pieces work better with my everyday style!

Formio Subscription Box Review - September 2014 Info

Vivre Collection bracelet, Turquoise Breeze – retail value: $44, cost to keep: $26

This bracelet is really pretty – I like the turquoise, and elastic-brand bracelets always seem to be the easiest for me to wear.

Formio Subscription Box Review - September 2014 Earrings

Manhattan Collection earrings, Uptown Stroll – retail value: $54, cost to keep: $26

Verdict: One thing that I like best about Formio is that you create your own wish list of accessories to get, so you know you won’t receive anything you wouldn’t pick yourself. I’d definitely recommend this subscription if you like to wear gold jewelry (there’s definitely not an equal selection of silver vs gold). Personally, I prefer silver accessories but my skin tone is pretty neutral so I can wear both, especially as Fall and the holidays come around (I always seem to embrace metallics more during that time of year!). They also have a nice variety of styles in their selection, so I feel you can find items for both casual and more formal outfits.

What do you think of my Formio selection? Make sure to use our promo code (GWPMSA) to get your free gift when you subscribe!

This seems to follow the same model as rocksbox. Which I love and have been subscribing with since they started.

Correction: the cost is $18 per month, no matter how long you keep the jewelry or when you decide to send your jewelry pieces back for a new set. We’ll add this info directly to the article ASAP. =]

I guess I’ll wait to sign up until I get a reply, as I really like that necklace! I placed the code in though and it took $0.01 off the price (making it $17.99 not $18). Did that happen to anybody else?

Valerie, the promo code takes a cent off to confirm in the system to include your free gift. =]

Thanks so much. I’ve put you down as a referral.

Oooh all those items are gorgeous! I think I’ll sign up. lol. I just signed up for RocksBox this month, and these items look just as good as the stuff I receive from them.. plus the keep price is a lot cheaper. :))

If I use the code for the necklace, is that a necklace I’d get to keep (as I just saw the value not the keep price)? 🙂

Hi Valerie! The Shooting Star necklace is a complimentary Welcome Gift for My Subscription Addiction readers to keep 🙂

Valerie, the promo code is for a free necklace with your purchase – readers keep It for free! =]

Also, please note that the $18 is applied per month throughout your subscription, and you can keep the jewelry as long as you like until you purchase them or send them back (this is a correction to the original article – we’ll officially update it shortly).

Hope this helps! =]

Hmm, I’ve never tried a subscription like this before, but I just signed up. I will give it a whirl. It seems pretty risk-free, and I am terrible about shopping for accessories (and committing to them) so this might be a really helpful service. Used the code for the free necklace, thanks Liz!

Wow – I like the looks of this, but thanks for the comment about gold vs silver choices… I really hate gold. So I guess I won’t do this. But I like the idea of keeping the stuff for a while and then returning or buying.

Question: Is the $18 styling fee applied to your purchase? Probably it’s more for keeping the stuff for a while. And can you skip a month?

Haley

Brooke – the $18 is applied per month throughout your subscription, and you can keep the jewelry as long as you like until you purchase them or send them back (this is a correction to the original article – we’ll officially update it shortly). Since it isn’t a strictly monthly subscription, skipping months is not an option for their service.

Thanks for your questions!

Hi Brooke! Leila from Formio here!

You are perfectly welcome to skip a month. With Formio you can cancel membership anytime. So if you want to take a break for a month or two (or longer), just make a note on your Formio profile and we’ll put a break on your membership until you tell us to send you more Formio boxes.

Also, we heard your comments about silver versus gold and our head stylist went to search New York City right away to find lovely silver pieces to add to the collection. Stay tuned! 🙂

I like this stuff better than some of the other jewelry subs (maybe my taste is similar to yours). But, it’s not in my price range at the moment. Some day…
