The Bride Box is a monthly wedding subscription box for brides. Each box includes a variety of items – everything from favor ideas, to bridal shower and wedding decor, to beauty items, and bachelorette party accessories.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Bride Box Subscription Review – October 2014 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included.

The Bride Box Subscription Review – October 2014 Tote

Allie Anderson Designs Tote – Value $30

I couldn’t find this exact tote on Allie Anderson’s etsy page, but I’m assuming the price would be the same for a different print.

The Bride Box Subscription Review – October 2014 Bag

The tote is completely lined and even has a detachable coin purse.

The Bride Box Subscription Review – October 2014 Mascara

Elizabeth Mott It’s SO Big Mascara – 4 ml Value $7

Lash Card - Value $5

I’ve tried this mascara before thanks to other subscription boxes, and it’s a good formula – not my all time favorite, but pretty good. I was most interested in these Lash Cards since I almost always get some mascara on my brow bone area when applying makeup. Here’s what they look like:

The Bride Box Subscription Review – October 2014 Lash Card

These are individually wrapped cardboard pieces shaped to work around the eye. They definitely work as a mascara shield, but it was weird for me to hold it while also applying mascara. I definitely can do a better job applying mascara when I’m not holding this card up at the same time. So in conclusion – not for me, but I think it may be a great solution if you’re getting your makeup done for your wedding. (You can hold the card while someone else applies the mascara).

The Bride Box Subscription Review – October 2014 Bonus

This box also came with a card with ideas for combatting wedding stress, and a discount for Sonar Travel.

Verdict: The retail value of this box is about $42 – a little more than the $35 a month cost. From what I’ve seen over the months I’d say this box is more about the curation and presentation than the value. I think it’s a good gift for a bride – the presentation definitely makes it feel special.

What do you think of The Bride Box?

Eva Scrivo Quarterly Subscription Box Review – #EVA01http://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2014/10/eva-scrivo-quarterly-subscription-box-review-eva01.html http://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2014/10/eva-scrivo-quarterly-subscription-box-review-eva01.html#comments Thu, 30 Oct 2014 19:40:22 +0000 http://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/?p=31838 Eva Scrivo Quarterly Subscription Box Review - #EVA01 Box

Eva Scrivo is one of the newest Quarterly curators, and since she’s a makeup and hairstyling pro, I had to sign up for this box!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Eva Scrivo Quarterly Subscription Box Review - #EVA01 Items

The Subscription Box: Eva Scrivo Quarterly Box

The Cost: $100

The Products: Beauty items, tools and techniques from Eva!

Ships to: US and Worldwide (additional shipping costs for Canada and International orders).

Delivered via: USPS

Good to Know: Quarterly accepts returns if you aren’t happy with a box!

Eva Scrivo Quarterly Subscription Box Review - #EVA01 Letter

Each Quarterly box comes with a letter from the curator detailing all the items included and why they were selected. Eva’s theme for the first box is “Backstage Beauty” in honor of New York Fashion Week.

Eva Scrivo Quarterly Subscription Box Review - #EVA01 Pictures

Eva included full page images to show the inspiration behind her selections. One of the themes she’s highlighting are metallics:

Eva Scrivo Quarterly Subscription Box Review - #EVA01 Headband

Eva Scrivo Leather Metallic Headband - Value $65?

I couldn’t find this exact headband on her site, so I’m estimating the value based on similar styles. This headband is gorgeous and the leather is great quality – my only issue is that it’s a little tight on my head. I received a size Small/Medium in the box, and I definitely would have been happier with a Medium/Large. (I’m guessing this will fit most subscribers though).

Eva Scrivo Quarterly Subscription Box Review - #EVA01 Makeup

Armour Lip Gloss in “Stardust” - Value $21

Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer in Give Me Gold – Value $8.50

At first glance I didn’t think this lipgloss would be for me since it seems very sparkly in the tube. I gave it a try though since it is one of Eva’s favorite lip glosses, and I’m glad I did. The sparkle is actually a very fine shimmer, and one swipe gives me plenty of shine and shimmer. It is just slightly sticky – but nothing that bothers me.

And this shimmery gold polish is gorgeous – and the brand is new to me!

Eva Scrivo Quarterly Subscription Box Review - #EVA01 Tutorial

Eva also included details on how to properly blow-dry hair (I need this advice) and step-by-step tutorials for creating a sexy pony tail look.

Eva Scrivo Quarterly Subscription Box Review - #EVA01 Products

Kerastase V.I.P. Volume in Powder  – Value $37

Obliphica Professional Seaberry Serum – Value $38

I normally don’t splurge on pricey hair styling products, so these are a treat for me! The V.I.P. Spray powder goes on clear so you don’t have to worry about any white residue in your hair. I think I need a few more tries to figure out the perfect application for my hair, but I can definitely see a boost in volume. And this serum is so lightweight! I tried it out on dry hair, but I’m thinking it will be even better on damp hair.

Eva Scrivo Quarterly Subscription Box Review - #EVA01 Brush

C5C-R Teasing Brush by Creative Professional – Value $17.48

Eva included this brush to help with teasing hair and creating more volume. (She also mentions that back-brushing is less damaging to hair than back-teasing)

Eva Scrivo Quarterly Subscription Box Review - #EVA01 Recipe

And each Eva Scrivo box will also include one of her favorite recipes “to help heal your body, strengthen your immune system, and promote glowing skin and hair, all of which are by-products of proper nutrition.”

This month’s recipe is an Autumn Salad.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $187. It cost $100, so that’s a pretty good value. More importantly, I think this box is great at curation – and I love that Eva included tutorial’s and runway inspiration photos to accompany her items. What do you think of #EVA01?

FYI – her next box is shipping in November! The theme is Radiance.

This month the project is making a Haunted Ginger Bread Mansion!

Darby Smart To DIY For Subscription Box Review - Oct 2014 Icing

I’m pretty sure I’m allergic/intolerant to every food item in this box. (They didn’t include ingredients for any of the items though).

In addition to the very vibrants icing, they also included candy for decorating:

And the icing tubes:

Darby Smart To DIY For Subscription Box Review - Oct 2014 Decorating

Verdict: I decided to sign up for a Darby Smart subscription after the Whimsey Box self-destruction. I paid a little less than $13 for this box (using the 3 months for $38 deal). I’m happy with the value and quality of the project materials. I’m a bit of a unique case though since I didn’t want to make a ginger bread house I couldn’t eat, so I passed this along to my cousin. On the plus side, I love that they did a Halloween themed box for October. Here’s hoping November’s box isn’t food based!

Here is what the finished project looks like from Darby Smart:

UPDATE: I reached out to POPSUGAR about the issue with showing that you will be receiving the October box in your account section. They confirmed that it is a front-end glitch, and they are working to fix it – but on the back-end everyone who signed up for the November box will actually be getting the November box and not the October box. Hope that helps!

JewelMint VIPBox Subscription Box Review – Oct 2014 Earrings 1

HoneyComb Earrings

These earrings actually separate so you can also have a simpler stud look:

(The earring backs are attached to the other pieces though, so you’ll need to borrow backs from another pair).

JewelMint VIPBox Subscription Box Review – Oct 2014 Necklace

Aquitaine Necklace

I don’t wear pearls that often since they tend to be more formal/classic, and I’m rarely that dressed up, but I like how the design of this necklace keeps it a little less formal with the golden spikes:

JewelMint VIPBox Subscription Box Review – Oct 2014 Pearl Detail

JewelMint VIPBox Subscription Box Review – Oct 2014 Pendant

Antoinette Shield Pendant

This may be my favorite piece in the box. I love the detail of the pendant piece:

JewelMint VIPBox Subscription Box Review – Oct 2014 Detail

Verdict: I’ve been consistently impressed with this subscription. The curation each month is well-done, and I like that they sometimes use pieces that will be released on JewelMint in the coming month. Plus $10 a piece is definitely worth it to me for the quality. What do you think of the October Jewelmint VIP box?

Batch Charleston Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Bracelet

Charleston Rice Beads Silver Bracelet by Candy Shop Vintage – Value $28

Normally this subscription is all food items, so this was a nice surprise – though it makes the box no long gender-neutral.

Batch Charleston Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Cheese

Slather Brand Slatherin’ Sauce Spicy Recipe – Value $7

Mrs. Murrill’s Cheese Straws – Value $12

We haven’t tried this spicy sauce yet, but my husband loved the cheese straws!

Batch Charleston Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Hush Puppy

Palmetto Farms Hush Puppy Mix – Value $6

Yay – this mix is gluten free! I’ve never made anything deep fried before, but I love hush puppies, so I am going to give it a try. (If you have an alternative recipe idea that doesn’t involve deep frying, let me know!)

Verdict: This is one of the highest value Batch boxes I’ve ever received – over $50 worth of products! I personally like the mix of food plus a non-food item like jewelry or a skincare item, etc., so I hope this trend continues if it means higher value boxes.

Graze is a weekly (or bi-weekly) mini-snack subscription box. You can let them know if you have any food preferences, and rate the snacks you get, so the box is pretty customized. (I avoid gluten and dairy in my diet, and it’s really easy to set up those preferences and still get surprised with snacks!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Graze Snack Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Info

In the past you had to go to the graze site to find out nutritional info and ingredients, but now they are including it in the box – I love this change!

Graze Snack Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Shangri La

Shangri-La (lingonberries, pineapple, almond slices & pumpkin seeds)

Garden of England (mini strawberries, apple, and black currants)

The Shangri-La is pretty much my perfect graze snack – it has the ideal balance of fruit and nuts/seeds.

Graze Snack Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Morning

Morning Energizer (Cherries, pears, and walnuts)

Tutti Frutti (Pineapple, cherry raisins, blueberry cranberries, and raisins)

The tutti frutti mix can be a little too much fruit at once for me, but it is great mixed with almonds (and that helps make these snacks last a little longer!)

Verdict: Graze is always a win for me – I love that I can give them my dietary preferences and get surprise snacks that I can actually eat!  The snack sizes are small (aka I think it is totally acceptable to eat the whole box in one day), but it’s a nice box to get for a low cost every other week.

What do you think of Graze?

Verdict: This month I think Ipsy is the winner for me. I’m using more of the Ipsy products, and the perfume sample didn’t help Birchbox. I have a feeling both subscriptions will be awesome for November though. I could be wrong, but I think November is the magical subscription month – and December usually pales in comparison.

Which subscription was your favorite this month?

Lip Factory Beauty Subscription Box Review – October 2014http://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2014/10/lip-factory-beauty-subscription-box-review-october-2014.html http://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2014/10/lip-factory-beauty-subscription-box-review-october-2014.html#comments Wed, 29 Oct 2014 12:11:25 +0000 http://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/?p=31691 Lip Factory Beauty Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Box

Lip Factory is a monthly full-size makeup subscription box. They tend to send a variety of drugstore and mid-tier makeup, and the value seems to always be at least double the cost of the box. (Extra good news – they ship worldwide!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Each box comes with a folded card detailing the items included for that month.

Lip Factory Beauty Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Devine

deVine Lip Shimmers Set – Value $9

OFRA Eyeliner in Grapefruit – Value $13

I’ve been wanting to try these deVine lip shimmers after seeing them pop up in a few subscription boxes, and I’m a fan! It’s a very moisturizing lip balm, but any shimmer or color is VERY subtle.

I’ll be swapping this eyeliner though – there is a limit to how many blue eyeliners a girl needs!

Lip Factory Beauty Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Lipstick

Michael Marcus Lipstick in Desire – Value $24

Reserves 29 Lipstick in Sparkling Shiraz – Value $25

The Reserve 29 Lipstick isn’t listed on the card, so I’m not sure if this extra item will vary box-to-box. The formula of this lipstick is very moisturizing, but the color was a little too bold for me.

Lip Factory Beauty Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Lipgloss

Frost Makeup Bag – Value $11

Frost Cosmetics Lip Gloss & Lip Stick - Value $16

This gloss/stick formula goes on pretty thick and it has major shimmer and pigment. It also has impressive staying power. I think it is a great product if you are going for a full-makeup look.

Verdict: I’m happy with the value this month – $98 worth of products for $22! I don’t need any more makeup bags, but besides that I’m good with all the items too. What did you think of Lip Factory this month?

Escape Monthly is a monthly vacation-in-a-box subscription. Each box comes with food, beauty items, and other souvenirs from a new destination. You also get a tourist book – so this box might help you plan your next actual vacation too!

FYI – They recently introduced a mini-version of their box for $24.95 that doesn’t include the guide book, and is only 4-5 items. This review is of the full box.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Each box comes with a sheet detailing the items included and a brief description of your destination that month. The September destination is London.

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Food

Corkers Natural British Crunch Crisps in Pork Sausage & English Mustard Flavor – Value $3

Walkers Nonsuch English Creamy Toffees – Value $4.50

Hill Custard Creams – Value $3

While I couldn’t eat any of these due to wheat and dairy ingredients, my husband volunteered to try out the pork and mustard chips. He said the chips were “interesting.” Since he finished the bag I’m assuming that means “pretty good.”

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Tea

Westminster Caddy of English Breakfast Tea - Value $8

This tin is full of Ahmad Tea in English Breakfast. I love tea, so I would have been pretty disappointed if it wasn’t in the London box!

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Taxi

London Die cast Taxi – Value $12

Rick Steve’s Pocket London – Value $12.99 (On Amazon for $8.85)

The info sheet lists this book at $19.99 – I’m wondering if not everyone got the pocket guide?

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Soap

Orico London Rush Hour Vibrant Dry Body Oil – 1 oz total Value $12

SoapSmith 3-Piece Soap Sampler – Value $8

Both of these items have wonderful natural scents, and I think may favorite is this dry body oil. It absorbs quickly and is made with 100% natural ingredients. I also appreciate that they packaged these oils in zip bags since they definitely leaked a little in shipping.

Verdict: This wasn’t my favorite Escape Monthly box (in part because I couldn’t enjoy any of the food), but I think it is an improvement over last’s months box. And I love my new dry body oil so that’s a win. This box has a value of about $60 (Counting the prices Escape Monthly provided on items I couldn’t find online).

What did you think of the London Box? And what do you think about next months destination:
