The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. All of their products are vegan (and they tend to be natural, too). They also typically include a nice mix of full-size and sample beauty items. Vegan Cuts also offers a monthly Snack Box and quarterly Makeup Box.

Vegan Cuts Beauty February 2018 black Organza pouch

Vegan Cuts sends a single package to subscribers who get both the beauty and snack boxes. The beauty items are separated into a little bag. (If you do not get the snack box, I don’t think you get the little bag.)

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the Vegan Cuts Beauty, $22.95 a month, box.

Vegan Cuts Beauty Box February 2018 Review

The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box usually contains a variety of haircare, skincare, and bath and body products.  There’s often one makeup product, as well:

Each Vegan Cuts Beauty Box comes with an information card detailing the items for that month.

Jivi Exfoliating Face Wash (1.7 fl oz) wrapped

Jivi Exfoliating Face Wash (1.7 fl oz)

Jivi Exfoliating Face Wash (1.7 fl oz) – Retail Value $12

This brand was new to me. I thought the wrapping was fun. This is a foaming cleanser that comes at just the right time, as I ran out of my previous foaming cleanser and hadn’t yet purchased more. I find that dispensers like this really pack a lot of product in there so this will last awhile. My preferred use for items like this is as the second step in a double cleansing routine, and this one does a good job of getting my skin clean without drying me out. (Sadly, I am not a fan of lemongrass, but I can get over the scent enough to actually use this up.)

Saiva Naturals Foot Balm (1 oz) – Estimated Value $17.50 (Buy a 2 oz. jar for $35)

We’ve seen this brand in Vegan Cuts before, but this particular product is new to me. I think it is a good time of year to get a foot balm. I’m thinking about sandal weather, which will be soon for me (I live in the South). I put some of this on my heels last night and then slept in socks and I do think my feet are a little softer this morning. This has neem (you can tell from the scent) and is antibacterial.

Derma E Hydrating Night Cream (0.5 oz) – Estimated Value $7.37 (Buy a 2 oz. jar for $29.50)

I generally like Derma E but I was not a fan of this product. It was very hard/solid (honestly, harder than the foot balm) and difficult to get much product out. When I put it on my face, I got a lot of white flaking and it didn’t rub in well. I don’t know if it was incompatible with one of my other skincare products (I have had this happen before) or if something else was going on.

Art Naturals Konjac Facial Sponge Duo

Art Naturals Konjac Facial Sponge Duo – Retail Value $10

I like konjac sponges for getting a bit of exfoliation from non-exfoliating cleansers. (I get enough of them from subscription boxes that I never have to buy them, either – they do disintegrate a little over time after constantly being wetted and dried.) I have tried konjac sponges from this brand before and am a fan. (I have kept these in the plastic, for now, to preserve them until my current one needs to be thrown out.) These come with a suction cup to hang for drying and you get one with charcoal and one without.

Luscious Cosmetics Pout Maker Lip Contour Crayon in “Perky”

Luscious Cosmetics Pout Maker Lip Contour Crayon in “Perky” (full size!) – Retail Value $12

This is another new brand for me. I was worried when I saw the color on the outside of the package (which looked to be some unappealing neutral tone) but relieved when I saw the actual product (my photos don’t capture it as well as I’d like). The color looks more of a rose on me, with a hint of coral (not brown like the picture on their website…). It’s hard to describe, but it works well with my complexion. I tried this as an all-over lip color and it was too waxy for that, really (I salvaged it by putting the lip butter from the Winter 2018 RosePostBox over it for some moisture). However, the waxiness makes it perfect as a lip liner and I definitely have some matching lipsticks in my stash.

Here is a swatch of the lip contour crayon. It makes such a nice line that it really is good as a lip liner.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $58.87 for this month’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. That is a pretty good value for the box. I was kind of relieved not to get another hair product this month, just because the past few months’ hair products haven’t worked for me. I will definitely use the sponges, cleanser, foot balm, and lip contour crayon, so it’s a useful box for me as well.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you would receive the March box. They don't have a standard cut-off date, but boxes ship until their next month's spoilers launch (typically between the 26th and 29th of each month). If you are interested in trying some of the items, though, watch the Vegan Cuts shop for sales – they offer large bundles of past items fairly regularly.

Value Breakdown: At $22.95 for the box, here's what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Cleanser $4.68
  • Foot balm $6.82
  • Night cream $2.87
  • Sponges $3.90
  • Lip contour crayon $4.68

I’ve had the same experience with the Derma E Night Cream. I tried using it over nothing and it still wouldn’t rub in. It was sort of like putty in texture. Thank you for making me feel validated!

Got my box. Derma E was creamy…great little box…I cancelled immediately after I knew it shipped….because I’m trying to be “good.” Haha…who am I kidding.

Now that I actually have this box and see the value and delicious products…I’m resubscribing.

I get the Beauty Box only (no snack box) and did NOT get the bag.
Also, I am wondering if something is wrong with my Jivi face wash. While I do like the lemongrass scent, it does not foam at all. I put two squirts (of brown goo) in my wet hand and it disappears when I try to wash it into my face. My face then feels like I put lotion on (not a clean feeling). And it then makes me break out. I gave it to my husband and he likes it. (my skin is sensitive, his is dry)

I signed up for this box to receive the Jivi Lemongrass face wash. I love it! It pairs well with the Konjac face sponge too. I had received a sample through my goodbeing Box and was considering purchasing through their site so it was good timing. I also really liked all the items in this box except the lip liner as I don’t use liners often.

I thought the face wash performed nicely and I will definitely finish it off. But I am just really anti-lemongrass as a scent or flavor. Reminds me too much of anti-mosquito candles and sprays and such. (Citronella oil is extracted from lemongrass.)

I think Jivi also has a eucalyptus face wash. I really like lemon grass scents though, even for bugsprays haha. Thanks for a great review!

You DO get the the netted bag even if you don’t get the Vegan Cuts Snack Box. I get one every month with my products and I don’t subscribe to the snack box.

The Derma E night cream isn’t supposed to be hard. Mine is a thick soft formula. Was it possible that the cream was left in cold temperatures. If no then you received a defected product. Also it sounds like you used products that didn’t mix well together.
This is a reaction call pilling.

I only sign up for the beauty box, not the snack box and I didn’t receive the items in a bag – just in a box with eco-friendly filler. I don’t mind though.
(And my Derma E was soft and creamy too, I think Ragan received a defective sample 🙁 Maybe email them and let them know?)

It wasn’t the same as the pilling I usually get with incompatible products. I really think there was something off about the texture. It didn’t make sense based on the ingredients that this product would have that texture.

And no, it wasn’t cold. If anything, it was a bit warm. The box sat in my black mailbox for an hour or two in 60+ degree weather in the sun and the chocolate on the snack items in the same box was slightly melted.

I’ve been using that night cream for a number of years now. When you buy it, it should be a nice creamy texture. It only dries up like that if you’ve had it for a long time, or it wasn’t sealed well or whatever. So maybe it’s old? I don’t know, that’s weird.

Ivy

Ragan, I had received the same night cream from a Good Being last year and I had the exact same issue as you. It definitely wasn’t a reaction from the application of multiple products because I tried using this in every way possible. It wouldn’t absorb into my skin and just balled up as I tried massaging it in. I received this product around early summer I think and didn’t think it was a temperature issue at the time.

Ragan

I actually had someone complain in a comment once that they didn’t get the bag. That was awhile ago, though, and policies may have changed.
