Vegan Cuts Beauty Subscription Box Review – February 2018

The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. All of their products are vegan (and they tend to be natural, too). They also typically include a nice mix of full-size and sample beauty items. Vegan Cuts also offers a monthly Snack Box and quarterly Makeup Box.

Vegan Cuts sends a single package to subscribers who get both the beauty and snack boxes. The beauty items are separated into a little bag. (If you do not get the snack box, I don’t think you get the little bag.)

Vegan Cuts Beauty Box February 2018 Review

The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box usually contains a variety of haircare, skincare, and bath and body products.  There’s often one makeup product, as well:

Jivi Exfoliating Face Wash (1.7 fl oz) – Retail Value $12

This brand was new to me. I thought the wrapping was fun. This is a foaming cleanser that comes at just the right time, as I ran out of my previous foaming cleanser and hadn’t yet purchased more. I find that dispensers like this really pack a lot of product in there so this will last awhile. My preferred use for items like this is as the second step in a double cleansing routine, and this one does a good job of getting my skin clean without drying me out. (Sadly, I am not a fan of lemongrass, but I can get over the scent enough to actually use this up.)

Saiva Naturals Foot Balm (1 oz) – Estimated Value $17.50 (Buy a 2 oz. jar for $35)

We’ve seen this brand in Vegan Cuts before, but this particular product is new to me. I think it is a good time of year to get a foot balm. I’m thinking about sandal weather, which will be soon for me (I live in the South). I put some of this on my heels last night and then slept in socks and I do think my feet are a little softer this morning. This has neem (you can tell from the scent) and is antibacterial.

Derma E Hydrating Night Cream (0.5 oz) – Estimated Value $7.37 (Buy a 2 oz. jar for $29.50)

I generally like Derma E but I was not a fan of this product. It was very hard/solid (honestly, harder than the foot balm) and difficult to get much product out. When I put it on my face, I got a lot of white flaking and it didn’t rub in well. I don’t know if it was incompatible with one of my other skincare products (I have had this happen before) or if something else was going on.

Art Naturals Konjac Facial Sponge Duo – Retail Value $10

I like konjac sponges for getting a bit of exfoliation from non-exfoliating cleansers. (I get enough of them from subscription boxes that I never have to buy them, either – they do disintegrate a little over time after constantly being wetted and dried.) I have tried konjac sponges from this brand before and am a fan. (I have kept these in the plastic, for now, to preserve them until my current one needs to be thrown out.) These come with a suction cup to hang for drying and you get one with charcoal and one without.

Luscious Cosmetics Pout Maker Lip Contour Crayon in “Perky” (full size!) – Retail Value $12

This is another new brand for me. I was worried when I saw the color on the outside of the package (which looked to be some unappealing neutral tone) but relieved when I saw the actual product (my photos don’t capture it as well as I’d like). The color looks more of a rose on me, with a hint of coral (not brown like the picture on their website…). It’s hard to describe, but it works well with my complexion. I tried this as an all-over lip color and it was too waxy for that, really (I salvaged it by putting the lip butter from the Winter 2018 RosePostBox over it for some moisture). However, the waxiness makes it perfect as a lip liner and I definitely have some matching lipsticks in my stash.

Here is a swatch of the lip contour crayon. It makes such a nice line that it really is good as a lip liner.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $58.87 for this month’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. That is a pretty good value for the box. I was kind of relieved not to get another hair product this month, just because the past few months’ hair products haven’t worked for me. I will definitely use the sponges, cleanser, foot balm, and lip contour crayon, so it’s a useful box for me as well.

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you would receive the March box. They don't have a standard cut-off date, but boxes ship until their next month's spoilers launch (typically between the 26th and 29th of each month). If you are interested in trying some of the items, though, watch the Vegan Cuts shop for sales – they offer large bundles of past items fairly regularly.
