Tea Box Express February 2018 Review

You can usually expect one tea (sometimes more), one accessory, and one edible item (sometimes more) in this box. Occasionally there will be other tea-themed items as well:

There was a card asking you to share your box contents on social media. This subscription typically does not have an information card with it.

Cynla Card (“Let’s Have Tea and Relax”)

Cynla Card (“Let’s Have Tea and Relax”) – Estimated Value $4

This particular design wasn’t in the Cynla shop, but all the individual cards there are priced at $4. This is blank inside. You occasionally do get cards with this subscription, but never too many at once. And it is nice to have one around in case it is needed; to me, this would be perfect as an invitation to catch up with someone you haven’t seen for awhile.

Chocolat Moderne Avant Garde Bar in Berries and Lavender (2.5 oz)

Chocolat Moderne Avant Garde Bar in Berries and Lavender (2.5 oz) – Retail Value $9

This is one of the most beautiful chocolate bars I’ve ever seen! I love the pink and purple. This is caramel filled and you can definitely taste the berries as well. The lavender is not so noticeable but I think it is working with the other flavors.

A Couple of Squares Handmade Cookies (1.2 oz)

A Couple of Squares Handmade Cookies (1.2 oz) – Buy 12 Cookies for $49.95

This brand is available only at super high-end retailers like Williams-Sonoma. They are no longer offering Valentine’s Day cookies, so I linked to some Easter cookies. I would personally not pay over $4 each for small sugar cookies (in fact, I would probably not want to pay for anything at Williams-Sonoma…) but I am happy enough to eat them in Tea Box Express occasionally. These were on the harder side, as cookies go, but the designs were super cute.

Valentine’s Tea Infuser from G + H Tea Services

Valentine’s Tea Infuser from G + H Tea Services – Estimated Value $5

I wasn’t having much luck finding this for sale online so I used the value from a similar item. I don’t like cleaning my tea infusers so I am happy to have another one. This is going to work, which is where I take most of my tea from subscription boxes.

Story of My Tea Dark Rose (18g)

Story of My Tea Dark Rose (18g)

Story of My Tea is a subscription service and it doesn't appear the teas can be purchased separately. These are super fun pressed tea cakes with the subtlest rose flavor. (These do expand/fall apart in water so you’d still want to use an infuser or disposable filter bag or something.) I was a big fan of this one.

Story of My Tea I’m a Gypsy (12g)

This is a caffeine-free herbal tea. It is a pretty red color in the cup and has a very fruity flavor. But that is just fine by me as I like fruity herbal teas. I drank this hot but I think it might be good iced, as well. The leaves of this one are also very pretty to look at.

Here are the teas brewed.  Dark Rose is on the left and I’m a Gypsy is on the right.

Verdict: There were six items in this month’s Tea Box Express. It wasn’t possible to find values for most of them. However, receiving two snacks and two types of tea was nice, and the card and infuser are useful. I was a particular fan of the Dark Rose tea and the chocolate bar, but I liked everything quite a bit. This was a good month for me.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today?  No, your subscription would start with the March box. From Tea Box Express:

Order by the 5th of the month to receive the same month's box. Order after the 5th of the month and receive your first box starting the next calendar month. If you make your purchase after the 5th but we have extra boxes, we'll let you know by email.

Coupon - Use coupon code MSA20 for 20% off your first month!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $31.49 (including shipping) and you receive six items, most of which are not available for individual purchase. That gives an average value of about $5.25 per item. Since several of the items have retail values well above that, I think it averages out.
