Pearlesque Box February 2018 Review

Luxe Botanics Info card

This month's featured company is started Luxe Botanics by South African biotechnologist, Jené Roestorf. She focused on sourcing only the highest grade, nutrient dense, organic and wild harvested core botanicals through fair-trade alliances to support local communities whiles safeguarding the environment.

As always, the other side lists the products included, how to use them, and the retail price. They also include a #pearltip for each.

Both of the products this month are from their Camu line. Camu camu is a low-growing shrub found throughout the Amazon rainforests of Peru and Brazil that is the latest vitamin C packed superfood. Here's a little bit about the ingredient from their website:

Impart a luminous glow to skin with Camu camu, bursting with more vitamin C than an acai berry to help to brighten, even out skin tone and repair damage caused by environmental stress. This collection is ideal for all skin types and those with dull or sun damaged skin that experience imperfections, dark spots or loss of elasticity and tone.

Luxe Botanics Camu Brightening Mist, 2.7 oz. - Retail Value $32.00

In order of usage, the first product is their Camu Brightening Mist. The Luxe Botanics website says that it is exclusive to Neiman Marcus, so to reorder, you'd have to buy it off of their site. It looks like they've made an exception to Pearlesque Box for their 2.7 oz. full-size bottle. I used this similar to how I would use a facial toner: after cleansing, I sprayed about 2-3 pumps onto my face and sort of patted it around to make sure it was even. Off the bat, I didn't personally love this scent as it's a bit too "floral" for me. I'm familiar with rose water, but this one has additional flower water that includes cedarwood, rosewood, and sage essential oils. It's not something that really put me off, but it wasn't my favorite. This is also rich in vitamin C among other things to plump and prime your skin. Overall, I did find this refreshing, but the mist could have been finer as well.

Luxe Botanics Camu Brightening Serum with box Luxe Botanics Camu Brightening Serum with cap off back of Luxe Botanics Camu Brightening Serum

Camu Brightening Serum, 1 oz. - Retail Value $85.00

Next, I used the other featured product, their Camu Brightening Serum. It's supposed to even out your skin tone, help repair sun-damaged skin and dark spots, and also reduce fine lines with sodium hyaluronate. I strayed from my most recent beauty regimen to try these two out on their own and have to say I really like the results. I found this serum to be really moisturizing and using 3 pumps that I smoothed onto my face and neck left my skin feeling ultra soft and hydrated. It was creamy like a moisturizer and wasn't thin or oily at all. The main ingredients here are camu camu, fruit extract, Japanese green tea leaf extract, and Darjeeling tea leaf extract. Just using these two alone, I felt pretty confident that my skin was well taken care of. They do make a separate moisturizer as well that can be used after this serum, but it was nice only using 2 skin products this week and thus far it's been alright!

Verdict: Even though I am getting slightly burnt out on serums, Pearlesque Box did deliver a great one this month that was thicker than the one from last month and had different ingredients. The mist was neither here nor there for me, but I definitely liked using the two products together to achieve quite nice skin with fewer products than my present regimen. It was nice to discover the new world of camu camu as well since I wasn't familiar with it.

Unlike some people who don’t like getting facial mists, I collect them. Facial mists act to transfer the serum more effectively into the skin. Without the moisture created by the mist, the serum would sit ON the skin versus going INTO the skin. Water is a transfer vehicle.

Interesting data on the most. I knew toners and waters corrected ph balance but was not aware of the transference function you mention!

Did everyone receive their Feb box by now? I received tracking number on 2/9 but nothing yet. I sent a note over the weekend inquiring as the box hasn’t even left the warehouse yet and received a reply that the holiday must be the reason for the delay but that all boxes have shipped which confuses me because if the boxes have shipped why is there no movement on my tracking number?

I had same issue – same reply (was a bit confusing). I did see that it finally moved today and is going to arrive by Saturday – hopefully others with the same issue will get their box soon. Pearlesque is usually excellent about shipping/shipping speed so hopefully this was just a hiccup in a usually very good service.

Looks like mine shipped today as well. I don’t mind the delay in shipping but they should communicate that. I do mind being told all boxes have shipped when they clearly had not.

Claire

I received it early this week

Same exact thing for me. No box, no movement, and same reply when I inquired about it.

I received my box last week (around the 13th), and I received a tracking email on 2/10.

I had really wanted to get this box, but I resisted since I already have a vitamin C serum on the go (and 3 in reserves thanks to beauty boxes & Sephora VIB sale). So, I didn’t think I needed to get this box. But it sounds like it would have been a good serum. I may have to check it out later. I’m not sure I can resist March’s box though since the products are from France. 🙂

I really love my Pearlesque Box. I did want to remark that the Camu is a serum and meant to be combined with a moisturizer (the review mentions using only the mist and the serum). I’m really loving the Camu serum and am combining it with Osea Atmospheric moisturizer (also from Pearlesque) for an amazing dual action!
