Papergang is a monthly stationery subscription box from quirky UK design team, Ohh Deer. Each month they partner with a different artist and have a theme to bring you paper goods and desk accessories.

They always feature beautiful packaging designed each month by the featured artist. This month's artist is Jacqueline Colley, who brings us an adorable, cheerful Palm Springs theme. On the back is a paper cut out craft—it's a little hard to see from the picture I took of the back of the box, but this time around, it's a pale pink parrot! Here, I tried my hand at making the little fella.

Papergang includes a fun little info booklet each month that matches the box and theme of the contents! This month's illustrator is Jacqueline Colley, whose aesthetic is full of petite, detailed illustrations of plants and quirky lifestyle depictions.

Open the booklet and you'll find the contents of this box (Box #23), as well as a quick intro to Jacqueline's work.

design details about Papergang

The next two pages feature an interview with Colley. It's a little word-heavy, but they break it up with different colors and font weights, so it isn't too overwhelming to dig in. Colley's sweet personality totally comes across in her responses, and in the interview, she addresses things like color palette, medium, her connection with Palm Springs, her background, and her favorite animal (spoiler: you definitely won't find it in Palm Springs!).

On the last two-page spread, there's a little peek at some of the other illustrations Colley has made, which are available on cushions, notebooks, greeting cards, and notepads on Ohhdeer.com. I miiiight just have to snag myself a houseplant pillow.

And, on the back cover, a fun little offer. It looks like, if you refer 2 friends, you can receive a free box. Holler! More details at papergang.ohhdeer.com/faq.

cute desktop planner from Papergang

desktop organizer in Papergang

Palm Springs Deskpad - Listed Value About $11.31 USD (£7.95)

I've always admired people who have large paper desktop calendars or notepads in their workspace because I think having your tasks and notes right in front of you in a pretty way is just such a lovely service to oneself! I can only imagine it helps with prioritization and productivity, and plus, they're nice to look at. I've never taken the leap and bought one for myself because I got too overwhelmed with how many cute ones there are out there and couldn't ever make a decision. But, I'm so excited to have my very first one right here, right now, right in front of me! I love, love, love the doodles section—I think it's so honest! It measures about 8.25 x 11.5.

tape roll from Papergang

palm springs washi tape

Illustrated Washi Tape - Listed Value About $3.56 USD (£2.50)

I actually subscribe to a washi tape (paper tape) sub box, so I have a whole collection going in the top drawer of my desk at home (which, let's be honest, is totally a craft desk and doesn't see any actual, serious work action). But, this washi tape is unlike any I've ever seen! I love the bright colors and warm-weather imagery. For those whose washi tape roll this is the first, I use washi tape to hang photos on my fridge, leave notes/grocery lists for my husband, cover the camera on my laptop so the government doesn't spy on me...you know, regular, everyday things.

cute stickers inside Papergang

fun sticker sheets from Papergang

4-Sheet Pack of Stickers - Listed Value About $5.62 USD (£3.95)

Stickers are another not-so-secret obsession of mine. I've been collecting them since I was a wee bairn. The difference between then and now is that then, I coveted them too dearly to ever really stick 'em to anything. Now, I'm like "WHO WANTS STICKERS?" like, to the degree that, for the year and a half that I worked in the box office of a local music venue, I often had a few sheets with me so I could help kick off people's show-going experience right. Even people who claim not to have a connection with stickers aren't gonna say no to a smiling face giving them something funky to wear. Anyway, these paper stickers are rad, and I can't wait to put them all over my life and friends.

classic pencil from Papergang

No. 2 pencil in Papergang

Road Trip Pencil - Listed Value About $1.35 USD (£0.95)

While my writing utensil of choice is most often a fine-tip Sharpie, I have a handful of pencils that I keep on my desk and kitchen counter because sometimes you just have to go the old school route. I love the trend of putting fun little phrases on pencils, because if you can insert a little quirk seamlessly into the situation, why not do it? You know?

car enamel pin from Papergang box back of enamel pin inside Papergang box

palm springs car enamel pin

Peach Car Enamel Pin - Listed Value About $8.46 USD (£5.95)

Such a cute pin! And, I was especially impressed to see that it has 2 little stabby parts on the back so that it will A) stay in place without spinning around, and B) be more secure whilst going about life. My pin collection is small, but one I'm proud of, and this is a great addition. I took a quick pic of it on the fuzzy sweater I was currently wearing, but it'll ultimately go on the chest pocket flap of my denim vest.

march calendar

Bonus: February Calendar Card - Estimated Value $1.35? (£1?)

Finally, the riso printed calendar that's always included as a little bonus item in each Papergang box! It features illustrations by Jacqueline Colley, but with a succulent theme that isn't part of the Palm Springs collection. This calendar is for March, so you can plan ahead!

Verdict: It's no mystery that I'm a Papergang fanatic! This month's illustrations were such a welcome treat in the midst of a cold and snowy winter. I received a desktop notepad, a roll of washi tape, a 4-sheet pack of stickers, a pencil, an enamel pin, and a bonus calendar card, all with exclusive designs, which added up to about $32 USD. That's an awesome value, considering the box itself is $18.80 USD, including shipping costs!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but check their countdown to see which one you can order now.

Coupon - Buy a 3-month subscription and save 50% off your first box, no code required, just link here! You can also get a free box with a 6-month subscription or 2 free boxes with a 12-month subscription!

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $14.81 + $3.99 shipping, which means that each of the 5 items in the box has an average cost of $3.76.

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.

I don’t know if it’s just my computer but I think that these all of these light-colored items would have stood out much better with a darker background. At any rate it looks like a fun box!

Hey Nancy, thanks for checking out my review! It’s totally not just your computer—you’re right, a darker backdrop would have been a really good idea. I’ll have to upgrade my little home studio so that pastel items like this can really pop. Thanks for the rec!

So cute! How do you get yours so quickly – are you in the UK? Mine take 4-5 weeks to reach me (US) … November box arrived in January (which was a bummer, because it was mostly holiday items), and I just received December.

Sara

I’m in the Midwest and it took a month to get the December box. It showed up like a week before the January box, the January one came super fast. Don’t know why. I got it like a week or two ago. I really liked it!

Hey, DW! What the heck! I’m not in the UK, I’m in Pennsylvania! I wonder what’s up with that. Have you tried reaching out to their customer service team? Maybe they can work some magic for you!
