Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson. Recently, Fabletics introduced a plus size line of their fashionable workout gear! You can shop their line in two different ways—either you can shop through their regular store or sign up as a VIP member. The VIP Membership works like this:

  • Take the Fabletics quiz, which will let the company know your size, style, and fitness needs.
  • Each month, Fabletics will curate looks that match your preferences. According to the website, outfits start at $19.00 for new members. (I'm not sure if "new members" refers to just your first order, though.)
  • Shop those looks at 40-50% off what you'd get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If you do neither, the $49.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you'll also earn points that can be applied to accessories and other cool fitness essentials.

Unlike a lot of other subscription boxes, you are not automatically sent a package each month. You have to go into your account and either decide to add items to your card or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call into Fabletics customer service to do it.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Fabletics Plus Size January 2018 review

About Fabletics

The Subscription Box: Fabletics VIP Membership

The Cost: $49.95 a month. This price goes towards the cost of the outfits curated for you. The cost of outfits varies, but you'll only be charged for what you choose to actually buy. If you want, you can choose to skip the month, and you won't be charged. If you don't spend your $49.95 nor choose to skip, Fabletics will charge you the $49.95 and just save it as store credit for you to use later.

The Products: High-quality, on-trend athletic clothing curated to fit your size, style, and needs. Think leggings, tops, shorts, and outerwear for yoga, running, and all kinds of other workouts. Fabletics is targeted towards women, primarily, but they do offer workout clothes for men, too!

Fabletics Plus Clothing January 2018 Review

I did not receive the typical invoice or coupon offers this month in my Fabletics order.

Yukon Sleeveless Dress modeled

Yukon Sleeveless Dress, Size 3x - Retail Value $79.95, VIP $49.95 (previously on sale for $24.98)

So, this month I figured I would opt to go against my normal leggings with sports bra combo. I found this athletic, sleeveless, hooded dress in heather grey on the site on sale! It makes my heart happy to find a great deal. The fabric is an incredibly soft sweatshirt material. It would be a great dress to wear for post work out or even power walking around outside in the spring months.

As you can see this piece has a hood and kangaroo pockets. This casual dress is the perfect marriage of a hooded sweatshirt and a sleeveless dress. I want to wear this ensemble out with my faux leather biker jacket for my weekend errand running. I am all for socially acceptable pajama-like ensembles these days.

Here is the detail of the hood and the adjustable drawstrings for tightening the hood. Serving prizefighter realness here, am I right?

Here is another detail on the pockets as well. I mean, you can’t go wrong with pockets on a dress, am I right? I will be storing my phone and Larabars in there, for sure!

I was concerned initially that my bodacious posterior may make this dress significantly shorter, but fortunately, it gives my back end full coverage. Hallelujah! I won’t have to worry about anything hanging out. Phew! I am excited also because this dress is modest enough in length that I could forgo wearing leggings in the early summer months.

High-Waisted Solid Powerhold 7/8 Leggings, Size 3x — Retail Value $54.95, VIP Price $39.95

Fabletics leggings are my favorite; they are so dang comfy! I have a few pairs of black leggings from them in different styles and lengths I reviewed previously, but this pair is unique in that they aren’t cropped or have a cutout design. These are very standard, classic leggings. I usually select high waist options in all pants, but especially in workout pants because it is absolutely heinous to repeatedly have to readjust myself. I don’t want to have to pull up my pants Urkel style! These leggings fit like an absolute dream due to the ample stretch. Also, they are incredibly opaque, so there will be no issue of your gotchies being seen through the fabric. The material is rather thick but immensely comfortable. Just an FYI: I plan on living in these leggings until the summertime, so don’t judge me, guys!

Verdict: I am constantly impressed by the quality of the Fabletics pieces I receive each month. This month’s selections were far more toned down than last month’s, but I still love the style of this ensemble. Also, this outfit is ridiculously comfortable. I will get a lot of wear with this ensemble in and out of the gym. My only complaint regarding Fabletics is that I would like for them to have as broad of a selection in plus size pieces as they do their straight sizes. Each month, it seems to improve more and more, but I would love to see every piece to be inclusive for all sizes across the board.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! Sign up here to nab this look in your size, or browse other styles.

Coupon - Use this link to get two pairs of leggings for $24 ($99 value)

Value Breakdown: This outfit cost me $64.93 + free shipping with the previous sale price on the dress. The original, non-VIP price is $134.90, meaning I got this ensemble for about 52% off! The current VIP price is $89.90, which is about 33% off!

Great review, very glad to see this dress on without all the commercial tactics of taking it in and pulling it up/down for photos. I was really curious about the length. I plan to buy this dress now because I could wear it without leggings without worrying it would be too short. thanks!

No problem, shoppeaholik! It is so cute and comfortable, I know you will love it!

Nicole – You look so fab in everything! Can I ask if you use shaper under garments or are you naturally that perfect?? I am about the same size as you, but I have all these lumps and bumps and if your using something, share your secret!!!!! What brand and what style?!?!?

Nicole Rieder

Awe, Erin you are too kind! In this pic I don’t have a shaper on. I sometimes wear it with dresses and form fitting pieces. Just plain old spanx. The wonder panties? Is that what they are called? But I try to avoid shapers when I can. Trust me, I have lady bumps and lumps too. Maybe it is the magic of the Fabletics leggings? Those pants are made from a thick spandex like material.

I really like the length of this dress – and I love the color. Also, thank you for teaching me that these pockets are called “kangaroo pockets”!

So, Fabletics finally figured out that apparel for working out would be useful for those of us who are not size Skeletor? Good news, but eyeroll-inducing.

Ks

Ripping on women’s sizes is eyeroll inducing.

Marie

Kind of a cheap shot to call us, women on the non plus size spectrum, “skeletor” size.. I’m proud of my sz 2-4 as much as you might be to have a more voluptuous body, so enough with the reverse body shaming.. nuff said..

Dea– Thanks for the kind words! Glad you liked my review.

I don’t think we need to be tearing other women down, though. Women come in a variety of shapes and sizes and we need to support each other. Body positivity is key at any size. I agree that brands need to be more inclusive and have merchandise in straight and plus sizes. It is frustrating being plus size and not having access to clothes like our thinner counterparts do, though. The fashion industry is definitely making big steps in the right direction. But so we do in our mentalities and not to make it a competition. We need to build one another up.

Marie– Thabks for checking out my review as well. We all ate beautiful at every size.

Happy Sunday to you both! 💖💖💖

Pollyanna

As someone who’s struggled with being overweight (size 16/18) to someone who is now a healthy (though somewhat thick—hey!, it’s my body type that I’ve grown to accept) size 9, I can say that I’ve been judged more for my smaller frame more than ever. It would be nice if we could all just work on our own bodies and make them the best they can be without dragging others down, for there is no benefit to doing so.
