Yogi Surprise January 2018 Review
This month's box focuses on the seventh chakra, the Crown Chakra. Each item in this box was chosen with the Crown Chakra in mind, meaning these products will help facilitate the efforts toward reconnecting that the new year has provided for us. On the reverse side of this card is a list of the items you'll find in your box.
Each month there is a Yogi Surprise Sequence included. This month's sequence features a variety of poses that both work to move energy upward and root you, moving energy down so that manifestation may occur.
There's also a card advertising the monthly yoga retreat giveaway. This month's retreat is an off-the-grid getaway focusing on the elements of wind, earth, fire, and water. Sounds so rejuvenating!

Gemstone Organic Crown Mini Bath Set - Retail Value $49.95
Before I even opened this month's box, a most blissful smell radiated right through the cardboard and filled my senses! It was divine, and I couldn't wait to dig in. I got my hands on this little purple organza pouch, and as I unpacked it, I couldn't believe how much stuff came out of it. The rolled, purple beeswax candles are my favorite part. It's not uncommon for the Yogi Surprise box to include candles, but these are really unique. I'm also really intrigued by the woven intention circle. I've experimented with writing intentions down before yoga or meditation, but never in such a ceremonious way as this crown lends itself to. The bath salts themselves (which came separately from the organza pouch) are Dead Sea salts infused with organic rose and organic bilberry powder, and organic frankincense essential oil. They smell heavenly and are meant to turn the bath water purple.
This set comes with thoughtful instructions that are written in such a way as to make me want to drop everything and go take an intentional bath right this second. I know what my plans are for tonight!
Joco Botanicals Yogi Bath Soap Bar - Retail Value $7.97
This bar soap is another treat for the nose! It's an all-natural, vegan, toxin-free, cruelty-free (yay!) soap scented with frankincense, lavender, and lotus. That lavender smell always catches my attention first, but the supporting scents offer a nice update to the classic, familiar scent. There aren't any special directions for use—it's just soap—but its packaging sticks with the Crown Chakra theme, so I imagine myself bathing with that intention in mind.

Crown Chakra Buddhi Tea — Retail Value $8.99
I can't say how much I appreciate that this tea comes in a sturdy box. My tea cabinet organization is lacking, but this will contribute to its improvement! When I opened the tea box and smelled the bags, I was surprised to find a floral, almost perfumey scent coming from them. I thought for sure that the bath salts and soap aromas must have wandered through my sub box, but it turns out this Crown Chakra tea features a lavender, rose, and nutmeg blend, so it's really a light, floral tea after all! I read on the box that amethyst crystals are placed with the herbs for 24 hours during the blending process to infuse their essence into the tea and energize the Crown Chakra, which is such a wonderful, mindful touch.
Oiliving Life Crown Chakra Spray - Retail Value $18.00
This is my second experience with Oiliving Life spray, and I'm really excited to receive another scent to try. I gave my first one as a gift this holiday season, but it was one of those gifts that I had to take a deep breath before giving because I really wanted to keep it for myself! Sometimes you just have to keep the good vibes moving around your goddess circle, ya know? Unfortunately, this spray was a little leaky, but luckily it was secured in bubble wrap, so it didn't seep onto anything else in the box. The scent of this Crown Chakra spray is a mix of frankincense, lavender, and myrrh. It's super light and refreshing. You can use this spray for whatever you want, but I think I'll keep mine by my yoga mat and spritz it a few minutes before I start my practice so I can breathe in its essence as I flow.
The Verdict: This was a great month for Yogi Surprise! I've found that many of my other January subscription boxes have been very light and stripped-down in the wake of the holidays, which I appreciate in ways, but I also like that Yogi Surprise puts an emphasis on the importance of reconnecting to oneself in the new year, with lots of helpful tools to take with you on your journey.
