The Zakka Kit December 2017 Review

The reverse side has all of the month's items listed out with a short description. This month has a value of $26+ USD listed.
Japanese Owl Rubber Stamp - Retail Value $5.25
I love rubber stamps and this owl is a great little addition for me. It's made by Kodomo No Kao, who is famous for making high-quality wooden stamps in Japan. This gal has an illustrative quality to her with the blotted lines instead of clean, more polished solid lines.
Nostalgic Holiday Card
This is a really special embossed card with gold leaf accents on textured paper featuring a small girl in traditional Japanese clothing. I don't know much more about this beyond that, but it's really lovely and Zakka Kit is calling it a holiday card suitable for Christmas or New Years. I estimated the value based on other special cards like this.
Metallic Snowflake Stickers
Perfect for winter weather correspondence, these silver and gold metallic snowflakes are printed on textured washi paper which adds to their special qualities. These went on the envelopes to my holiday cards this year and I still have plenty left to send out before Spring.
Zebra Sarasa Clip, 1.0 mm - Retail Value $1.75
You may have read me going on about how much I love this pen. I have it in virtually every color although not in metallic gold. Yay! This point size is a hefty 1.0 mm which is normally larger than I go for but works with the metallic ink, in my opinion. This is absolutely perfect for writing out gift tags around the holidays!
Holiday Gift Tags x3
Each of these three gift tags has a snowy scene with blue and orange hues that are inspired by vintage travel posters. They measure about 2.5 x 3.5 inches so they have enough space to write a short message to the receiver of the gift. The fawn is definitely my favorite!
Chiyogami Washi Paper x3
At first, I thought these were specific origami papers, but they aren't square, so they aren't quite perfect for such. They're made using traditional screen printing processes and you can really tell that these are special with their bright hues and gold accent ink. There are two with floral motifs in reds and pinks, then greens, and a third with a more abstract Japanese pattern. All so pretty that I almost don't want to use them!
mt Washi Tape in Corner Peach - Retail Value $3.50
Oooh- I looove this tape and used it this Christmas to attach gift tags to gifts for my family. I love the gold and peach colored pattern of diagonal lines. Subtly festive, but perfect to use any time of year for sprucing up letters or planners.
Lastly, I got a couple cute animal head stickers with gold borders. There are usually a few loose stickers swimming around the Zakka Kit box each month and these two are really cute.
Verdict: This month's Zakka Kit was perfect for the holiday season. They did a great job curating all the different items you'd need to keep your wrapping and gift giving special. The pen, stickers, and washi tape are probably my favorite items and I would always be pleased to receive three like items every month. Even though the card, tags, and paper were really nice, I'm not sure how much use I will get out of them personally. Even though Zakka Kit has a great presentation with unique items, I may need a couple higher valued items to make this my favorite Japanese stationery sub.
