SnackNation January 2018 Review
Normally SnackNation comes with a page that explains their whole deal, but it was absent this month, similar to last month. Maybe they aren't including them anymore? I don't miss it too much since it doesn't detail the snacks included anyhow.
Vegan Rob's Wild Mushroom Kettle Chips, 2 oz. - Buy a 5 oz. bag for $3.79
These chips were really unique, I don't think I have ever seen or tasted a mushroom flavored chip before! I thought the flavors wouldn't be very strong, but you can even smell the wild mushroom just from opening the bag. The flavors are bold, earthy, and a little salty. Kettle chips are my favorite and these did not disappoint with their big crunch. Such a great salty snack!
Deep River Snacks Zesty Jalapeno Kettle Chips, 1 oz. - Buy a box of 24 2 oz. bags for $23.04
More kettle chips, yes! You never know how spicy a chip is going to be, I can say these took me by surprise. They are super spicy! Zesty is a great way to describe them, they are full of a bold spicy flavor. This was another delicious kettle chip snack that had lots of salt and spice.
You Love Fruit Apple Pie, .5 oz. - Buy a pack of 12 for $23.99
I have had this brand in a few other snack boxes before, and I'm always on the fence with the flavors. I will say, though, that this apple pie with mango and cinnamon is probably my favorite. Each piece of fruit leather tastes similar to a Fruit Roll-Up without all of the added sugars. You really can taste the freshness of each bite!
Chomps Snack Sticks, 1.15 oz. - Buy a box of 6 sticks for $16.99
I haven't had a meat stick in years! I have always stayed away from buying something like a Slim Jim only because they are pretty unhealthy. These are made with grass-fed beef and have no artificial nitrates, a much healthier option I would say! This jerky is packed full of proteins to help you keep your energy up throughout the day. I have to say, I really loved eating this, it felt like I was indulging because it tasted so delicious, but now I know that it really is good to eat.
Caveman Sweet & Smoky Chicken Bites, 1.1 oz. – Buy a case of 12 bags for $27.50
These chicken bites were interesting. I am pretty sensitive to smells and for some reason when I opened the bag I just couldn't get past the smell of these bites. The texture was hard and chewy which was another thing that turned me off a bit. I will say that the sweet and smoky flavors were delicious, just something about these didn't make me want to go back for more.
Sunrich Snacks Roasted & Salted Sunflower Kernels, 1 oz. – Buy a case of 12 bags for $11.97
I am obsessed with sunflower seeds! My brothers played baseball what felt like year round, and I was always given a bag of sunflower seeds when we would be at a long weekend of tournament games. What I love the most about this brand is that they are roasted kernels, so you don't have to deal with the shell at all! Each kernel is lighted roasted and salted, really the perfect amount of salt. I could eat bag after bag of these!
The Daily Crave Veggie Chips, 0.6 oz. - Buy a 6 oz. bag for $4.29 (found here for $3.43)
My son is obsessed with veggie chips so they have become a staple snack in my pantry. I am always excited to try a new brand of veggie chips, and these are one that I have never heard of. The packaging is super cool! The chips themselves are pretty standard to other brands that I have tried, a light saltiness, crunch, and that yummy veggie taste.
Just Fruit Bar By Zego, 1 oz. - Buy a box of 12 for $15.04
This fruit bar is the real deal, nothing artificial here! Each bar is made from 100% real fruit, and you can really taste the freshness in each bite. The texture is sort of hard to explain, it is soft like other fruit bars but has a seed-like texture as well. Each bite was naturally sweet and had a yummy tartness from the raspberries. I would love to taste other flavors!
Halfpops Black Truffle & Sea Salt Popcorn, 0.75 oz. - Buy a box of 15 for $28.90
These little popcorn kernels were so good! I normally don't love this type of popcorn, it always makes me feel like I'm just eating a bag of uncooked kernels. This brand, however, I am loving! The black truffle flavor is super bold and you get lots of saltiness from the truffle and the natural sea salt. I could eat this every day as a salty snack!
Quinn Touch of Honey Pretzels, 1.5 oz. - Buy a 7 oz. bag for $5.79
I love pretzels and I love honey, the perfect snack for me! There wasn't anything too fancy about this bag of pretzels. Each stick is flavored with a sweet honey and has a light saltiness to it as well. I loved how savory this was without being too overwhelmingly sweet.
Clif Whey Protein Bar, 1.98 oz. - Retail Value $2.49
Clif bars are my favorite! I've eaten these as a late afternoon snack and as a meal replacement in the morning if I am running late and need something fast. Honestly, I never feel like I am eating something healthy when I snack on a Clif bar, which is great for me because I have a huge sweet tooth. The mixture of peanut butter crunch and chocolate makes this one of my favorite flavors!
Appleways Apple Oatmeal Bar - Buy a box of 15 for $9.99
I love this brand, but it can be pretty hard to find! I have only ever tried the apple flavor bar, so I was excited to see something that I know and love. The bar is so soft like a fresh cookie. The apple and cinnamon mixed with the oatmeal make it as though you are eating a fresh Dutch apple pie. So yummy!
Harvest Road Mini Pretzels, 1 oz. - Estimated Value $0.75
Nothing too crazy here, just real simple mini pretzels. Each bite was salty and crunchy. My son devours mini pretzels so we go through bags like crazy. I am always happy to receive snacks that I can safely give to him that I know he is going to love! I wasn't able to find this brand online for purchase so I did an estimate for the price based on the size.
Sheila G's Brownie Brittle in Salted Caramel, 1 oz. - Buy a 5 oz. bag for $3.99
I have come to know and love Sheila G's Brownie Brittle! Each bite is crunchy with the right amount of creamy sweetness from the chocolate. The salted caramel puts this snack over the edge into amazing land! I snacked on this bag in the afternoon with a cup of coffee and it was the absolute best!
OCHO The Organic Candy Bar, 1.5 oz. - Buy a box of 18 for $30.99
OMG, this candy bar is crazy good. You have this amazing outer shell of chocolate that is so sweet, and then a filling of nougat, caramel, and peanuts. It is gooey and crunchy all at the same time. I could have eaten a few of these right in a row they were that good! Plus, they are made with certified organic ingredients, you can't beat that!
Verdict: SnackNation is always a winner for me! I love finding new healthier snack options for myself and my family. SnackNation has introduced me to so many brands that are new to me that I am going to try to purchase more of in the future! Not to mention you get so many snacks each month, I am going to be eating through these for days. The value really comes in with the various brands, they are high-quality snacks that you might not be able to always find at your local grocery store!
