December 2017 Loot Crate DX Star Wars Review

This month featured one franchise. STAR WARS!

It comes with a fold-out information card that details the items in your box.

And on a major down note – the coolest item in the box didn’t make it – so it’ll be arriving at a later date according to this card. To make up for it, they’ve included BB-8 socks as a bonus item.

Dosmit Ræh Helmet Pin – Value $5-10?

Loot Crate DX pins are bigger and better than the typical enamel pins – this month’s features a rebel pilot helmet from Dosmit!

Jedi Shirt – Value $15?

The exclusive shirt for this month features a bold Jedi Order symbol.

I like the design – it’s straight-forward and has that patina look to it.

It even has ‘Use The Force’ on the sleeve as a little extra touch.

Rey Mighty Muggs Figure – Value $12-15 on Amazon

These days it’s always a bit odd to find a non-exclusive in a Loot Crate, but the Star Wars box’s big item (without the lightsaber in the box) is this Mighty Muggs figure from Hasbro.

It comes with three different expressions – push down on Rey’s head to spin her face!

The design is almost like a mix of a POP and a Titan figure. It’s not my favorite sculpt, but I also don’t hate it.

Star Wars Jedi Journal – Value $15?

You’ll get a second Jedi Order item – this time it’s a faux leather bound notebook.

It has some literature at the beginning and end of the journal – I like that they’ve translated the Aurebesh language!

You’ll get 160 blank pages to work with.

R2-D2 3D Glasses – Value ?

You’ll get a pair of RealD 3D glasses to use at the theater. You can only use these in ReadD enabled theaters, though. I’m not sure there’s much value here since you can’t really use them outside of the theater.

As a bonus – they include a code to get a free movie poster if you’re looking to sign up for Disney Movie Rewards.

BB-8 Socks – Free Bonus Item

And finally, you’ll get a paid of BB-8 socks as a free bonus item for missing the lightsaber in the shipment. We got these back in the December 2015 Loot Crate – and I still rock these to this day!

Verdict: While I like the shirt, I can’t help but be disappointed this box as a whole. I think it’d be totally different if there was an awesome .45 scale replica lightsaber IN the box on the first go-around, but that’s not the case. With the shirt and figure as the two items I’m liking, it feels like it’s come up short – especially with the late arrival.

As a general word of caution – Loot Crate has been having numerous manufacturing delays across a number of their lines – it’s something to beware of if you’re trying to get a box on a schedule.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No – you can find the current month available at the top of their homepage. They are currently taking January subscriptions – every month’s cutoff date to order is the 19th of the month at midnight EST.
