Lola Beauty Box December 2017 Review

This month features hair, skincare, and makeup products. Let’s check it out:

Each box comes with a card detailing the brands and items included along with the prices and websites for each. This month’s theme is “Winter Lola Land”.

Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Tarte Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Tarte Open

Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint in Goals - Retail Value $20.00

Oh, Tarte! I love Tarte. And, I’m actually thrilled that they included a glossy lip color instead of the super popular matte version. This is a great rosy nude that goes on with the impact of a lipstick but the sheen of a gloss. It feels comfortable while wearing and keeps my lips moisturized for a couple of hours.

Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Rituals Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Rituals Open

Rituals The Ritual of Dao Soothing Night Balm, 2.3 fl oz - Retail Value $17.00

Ugh! The dry weather has my hands feeling chapped and cracked. This balm is the perfect fix. It is thicker than a hand cream and feels soft and velvety when it soaks in, not greasy like a lot of balms. It has shea butter in it to help heal and protect skin. Is it weird that it acts as a primer for hands? It really does make my hands look smoother with less fine lines. And, the light floral scent is divine.

Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Palette Box

Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Palette Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Palette Detail

Laritzy Nue Nude Eyeshadow Collection Palette - Retail Value $36.00

Twelve shades are included in this nude eyeshadow collection. There is a mix of shimmer and matte shades that fall into the warm brown category. The colors are buildable and the shimmer shades are especially velvety in texture. It takes a few passes to really get high color impact from these shades but that doesn’t really bother me. I like the size of this palette, but it kind of looks like it is missing a mirror.

Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Hairgurt

Hairgurt Smoothing Yogurt Hair Masque in Strawberry Banana, 4 fl oz - Retail Value $11

I’m admittedly not a fan of banana. Actually, I hate it. So it’s a good thing this hair mask smells more like strawberry candy! It has a thick creamy texture that is easy to work into wet hair. My hair is curly and frizzy but it felt smooth, soft, and my curls had great definition after using this. I always appreciate a good hair mask and I like the inclusion of a hair treatment product this month.

Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Crown Box

Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Crown

Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Crown Brush

Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Crown Handle

Crown Brush CRG1 Deluxe Tapered Powder Brush - Retail Value $17.99

This is a big, fluffy brush perfect for applying powder. The synthetic bristles are so soft and don’t shed. I like the way the handle feels too. It’s matte with indentions for a comfortable grip.

Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Face Lola Beauty Box December 2017 - Eyes

Here I have a mix of shades from the eyeshadow palette which I really like. The fact that not a lot of product goes on with one layer works well for me when my skin is lighter in the winter and I’m going for a more natural look. The lip paint is the perfect glossy nude for my lips. Love it!

The Verdict: This is another great month from Lola Beauty Box. I love the lip gloss and the night balm is great for the cold, dry weather we have been having. I have been hoping for a powder brush too! Everything is full sized and with a value of $101.99, they come through on their promise of at least a $70 value. That is so great for a $21 box that always introduces me to new types of products and brands. I also enjoy the mix of hair care and skin care among the makeup items.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, the December and January boxes are sold out. If you sign up today, your first box will be the February box.

Value Breakdown: The box cost $21.00, but I estimate that I received $101.99 in value. That means I spent approximately the following on each item:

  • Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint in Goals: $4.12
  • Rituals The Ritual of Dao Soothing Night Balm, 2.3 fl oz: $3.50
  • Laritzy Nue Nude Eyeshadow Collection Palette: $7.41
  • Hairgurt Smoothing Yogurt Hair Masque in Strawberry Banana, 4 fl oz: $2.26
  • Crown Brush CRG1 Deluxe Tapered Powder Brush: $3.70

That is one boring palette…

And what’s with the constant delays?

Glad I am not subscribed anymore.

This box is so much like Boxycharm.

This was not a great box for me.

You are being too kind by finding something nice to say about the eye shadow palette that delivered almost no pigment on the eye. Given that all the shades were slight variants of brown, the end result was a universal smudge of mud tone 🙂

And although Tarte lip color is nice, I seem to be overloaded with mud colored lip colors from various boxes – some pink – or even some red or plum – would be welcome.

I think laritzy was better when they were doing sub boxes. I remember I subbed for about 4-6 months with them and loved the products they sent and their customer service

Yea, I really haven’t liked any LaRitzy products I’ve received in subs. For me, that brand is a dud. But I like the color of the lip gloss! And the Hairgurt mask…we’ve gotten that in Boxy and it was so nice. I would love more of that!

This is the box I wanted and ordered in December and instead I got January 🤨 I was so mad but saw the spoilers and was starting to get excited about it. Well just got my first ever Lola box and what happened ? I’m missing and I guess a lot of others are missing their contour palette as well. This is not a great first impression their giving me! And on top of that they aren’t shipping it to me til I get my February box 😠

T.Marie

I still haven’t even gotten my box…. Waiting…. Waiting….

Cristina

That’s horrible. I’ve been on the fence about this box for a while, and this one looks nicer than their previous ones, but what happened to you is horrible.

Angie

It is very horrible. It’s a great box overall but when your supposed to get an item and was expecting this palette for a couple weeks you grow impatient. Then when the box literally comes and u get an email regarding all these complaints about this palette missing from mostly everyone’s box then u grow upset. And this is just my first impression! And then they email me stating I’ll get it in my next months box! What? I don’t wanna wait that long! I’ve already been waiting weeks lol. But yeah a lot of people are going to be missing this item in this months box so everyone should know! You’d think that bc they made a booboo that they’d ship this immediately but nope that’s not the case 😧

T.Marie

You are gorgeous!!
