January 2018 Heart + Honey Review
Heart + Honey always has a theme, and this month it's The Lotus Flower!
The info card goes on to talk about the daily blooming cycle of the Lotus, as it emerges from muddy waters each time to present its beautiful petals. The most common symbolism of the Lotus Flower is enlightenment, something I am always striving for.
The next card goes through each of the products and why H+H chose them.
First, we have a mysterious box with something fragile inside.
Glass Teapot
It's a clear glass teapot, roughly five and a half inches tall, with a bottom width of a little over three inches. It has a silver metal handle and a removable glass lid which is delicate, yet arrived perfectly safe.
There's also a strainer in the neck of the spout so that you can brew loose leaf tea without getting too much debris in your cup.
This is a cute and simple little teapot that's large enough to make one cup of tea with some leftover to top off your cup a bit later.
The next item, which works in conjunction with your new teapot is in a little gift bag.
Lotus Flowering Tea Balls x 2
Heart + Honey has included two lotus flowering tea balls to enjoy! I was excited to see these since I've never experienced them before.
Here's what it looks like when removed from the vacuum-sealed packet. I dropped the tea ball into the teapot and poured hot water over the top as directed by the info card.
Whoaaaaa- now I see why they chose a clear teapot! It looks so beautiful once bloomed!
Here is an overhead view as well. The tea wasn't very overpowering at all and had a light floral/earthy flavor.
White Lotus and Water Lily Perfume Oil by L'Apothicaire Co., 10.5 ml - Retail Value $18.00
Like last month, I knew something like this was in the works before it came because they posted a spoiler via their Instagram account while the labels were being made.
This scent was produced by a small batch botanical apothecary from Grand Rapids, MI and has such a lovely fragrance. I love that they put it in a rollerball bottle for easy application. It automatically makes me feel very feminine and pretty once rolled onto my wrists and conjures up visions in my head (similar to the label) of delicate flowers floating on a pond.
Here's the info card from L'Apothicaire Co.
I'm always excited to see what's inside the satin bag that comes in so many H+H boxes!
The Lotus Flower Kegel Exercise Balls
Eeeee! Super stoked for these kegel exercise balls! The more I explore my sexual health, the more I want to try something like this. I'm so glad that they've included these, as I don't have anything like them.
I'm also glad they've included instructions since I wouldn't know where to start. I did a little bit of online research as well to find that these can assist you while doing exercises that strengthen your PC (or pubococcygeus) muscles which both men and women have. Your PC muscles can weaken after childbirth, surgery, or with aging, (among other things) which can cause you to have less control over your bladder and even dull sexual sensation.
These particular exercise balls are medical grade silicone covered and come as two attached weighted flowers on the end of a loop. Each one is about an inch and a half long with a diameter of an inch and a quarter and has a round floral shape.
You can, of course, do kegel exercises without the aide of a tool, but these babies will give you more resistance as well as a visual reinforcement that you are training properly. Just keep an eye on that loop on the outside of your body to see it move with each contraction. You can start off with just one and gradually work your way up to two when you're feeling comfortable or even leave these in while tackling other daily duties around the house.
The Lotus Tri-Point Vibe
Here we are at the last item, and perhaps one that draws the most excitement (in more ways than one). Never a disappointment, this month's toy steps it up a notch by having its own app.
You'll see a few QR codes on the back which you can scan to get to the app, but I had the most success by searching "man nuo" in the app store.
Once you remove the outer packaging, you'll see a crisp white box that holds this vibrating flower of the future.
Mine came in blue and, as always, is made from medical grade silicone that is safe for internal use. 😉
What a cutie, amirite?? This lil lady is just over six inches in length total with a "bud" a little over two inches long and over one inch wide. The button that controls all of the vibrations and pulses is right here on the front of the handle which delivers three constant vibrations, and seven different patterns (at least one of which will surely delight you).
But don't forget that there's an app that controls it as well! You can control it yourself, or pass it to a partner to surprise you.
The "petals" on either side are really soft and flexible, not unlike a tongue.
Here, I demonstrate its flexibility. Each petal (or is it more of a leaf?) is nearly three inches long and an inch and a half at its widest point.
No need to stock up on batteries. Just use the included USB cord and plug into your laptop or extra wall adapter (not included) to charge.
Here's everything you need to know about your new BF(F?).
Now, let's take a look at the app:
First, you power the toy on. Then you'll launch the app and press the icon to pair it with your (or a partner's) phone via Bluetooth.
Once you're all connected, you'll see this menu screen with four options.
The top icon (music note) opens this screen, which would presumably take you to your music library. Since I use Spotify, I don't have any music on my phone. If I did, I could play any song from my library that the tri-point vibe would shimmy along to. Pretty wild, no?
The second option is a page full of the same ten vibrations and pulses that you can toggle through on the actual device. But like, someone else can control it for you, from across the room. 😳
The third, and probably my favorite, is this screen where any touch will send a vibration to the device. You or your partner can make up patterns, tap along to a random beat, or even hold it down for a continuous rumble. The sky is the limit with this one. I noticed a slight lag, but I'm still pretty darn impressed.
The fourth and final option in the app is using a video to vibrate along to. To be honest, I'm not really clear on the advantage to this one. No matter which video I chose: a record, my cat (sorry, that's kinda weird), or a live electronic show all just produced varying yet seemingly random vibrations. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Perhaps my mind (or my videos) need to go further down a "naughty" path to fully appreciate this one, but I'll leave more experimenting up to you all.
Verdict: It's no secret that I have a great love for Heart + Honey. Their themes are always so special, and many times spiritual, which is a great way to present such a box of goodies that otherwise could be looked at as "taboo". I am just over the moon about the kegel exercise balls this month and am blown away that they included them AS WELL AS a vibrating item. Heart + Honey finds great ways to allow me to relax and usher me into a guilt-free world of discovery and excitement.
