FanMail “Simply Marvelous” December 2017 Review

simply marvelous theme booklet for fanmail december 2017 information booklet list of nerdy fan must-watch shows and movies info card

Here’s the info card for the December box. I love that they list the release dates of popular movies, comics, TV shows, and books!

supernatural card

There’s also a (Supernatural-themed!) coupon for CineQuest.com, which is a memorabilia site.

sheer circle scarf spiderman scarf closeup on marvel scarf

Spider-Gwen Infinity Scarf by Bioworld – Retail Value $19.99

Whoa, this is an awesome tribute to alternate-universe-dwelling, spider-bitten hero, Spider Gwen! I don’t think I’ve ever seen her highlighted in a subscription box before, so I’m pretty impressed with this item. The scarf itself is really lightweight and sheer, and I like that it’s as soft as it is. It’s pretty voluminous, too!

jessica jones print

Jessica Jones Art Print by Varsha Vijayan

This exclusive is by one of the box’s featured artists. I love the colors and the eerie vibe that the blurry paint creates. The print is 5.8″ x 8.5″ and printed on a glossy card. I kind of wish it had a frame or a mat—something that would make it more sophisticated and add more value. But it definitely would look cool tacked on a wall or corkboard.

Exclusive Black Panther Pendant Necklace

Um, how stoked are you for Black Panther? I. Am. So. Excitedddd! I’ll be wearing this pendant to the movie theater, for sure. This metal pendant is just over an inch long, and the chain is 19 inches long with 2 inches of loops to hook the lobster claw clasp on. I like how the simple design makes it easy to add a nerdy nod to your outfit.

Exclusive Spider-Man Sleep Mask

If you’re traveling over the winter, say, on a crowded plane, bus, or train, then this eye mask might be a welcome sight! The silky smooth mask feels comfortable and does a great job of shutting out the bright and busy world. Plus, you look like Spider-Man when you wear it. Awesome!

Exclusive Thor: Ragnorak Tote Bag with Artwork by Amelia Lo

Your girl loves a tote bag, and this one is so cool! I love featured artist Amelia Lo’s drawing. At first, I wished there was more color in the design, but this grayscale design is actually kind of cool—it’s easy to match with whatever outfit you wear to the store (if you’re into that), and it’s also just kind of modern and fresh. Oh, and I dig that fist bump!

The Verdict: I love Marvel comics and movies, so I’m not surprised that this box was up my alley. I think my favorite item was the totebag—the design is just so much fun. It’s cool that they feature specific artists, and I like that there are so many exclusives. This isn’t merch you’ll find at Target! The quality isn’t astounding, but it’s all nice enough that I’m, for instance, not worried about the necklace breaking, or that my next bottle of wine will stress the straps of my tote bag beyond their abilities.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! Hurry to nab it now. The subsequent box will be for February.

Coupon – Use coupon code SUBADDICT you can save $2 off your first box!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $21.99 + $6.98 in shipping, or $28.97 in total. That means the average value of each item is $5.79. That’s significantly less than the retail value that I found for the scarf, so not bad!

  1. Wow, great box! I’d love to swap for the necklace & tote especially!

  2. It is a great box except the mask seems to be for a smaller head. My teen cannot fit it around her head and it is not extra large.

  3. Fun review…but no picture with mask on? Disappointed!
