Info card on Lemurian Amphibole Quartz

Next, there's an info sheet all about the featured Crystal of the Month! January is the Lemurian Amphibole Quartz!

lemurian amphibole quartz

Lemurian Amphibole Quartz - Estimated Value $16.00+

This month's crystal comes to us from Bahia, Brazil. The info sheet tells me that the brown, red, and tan colors seen in the quartz are due to amphibole being present inside while forming. An amphibole is a group of minerals composed of tremolite, actinolite, tourmaline, and hornblende. I found a similar quartz here that doesn't look as large as the one I received for $16.00.

Here you can see how cool the reddish hues look, swirling inside of the otherwise clear two-inch l0ng quartz.

The amphibole was slowly deposited into the quartz solution as it was cooling inside the earth which suspended these waves as it crystallized. The info sheet reminds us how rare and special this occurrence is!

Enchanted Crystal also includes a few other kinds of small crystals in each package. Let's see what I got this month!

Matchstick Quartz Shards close up of Matchstick Quartz Shards

Matchstick Quartz Shards

I got these in my first shipment back in November but still think they are pretty cool. There is quite a handful here, so I can easily share these with fellow crystal collectors. Each one is so thin and delicate, just like their namesake, the matchstick. I like to look through them and see how the coloring, size, and shape differs in each.

Black Tourmaline

Black Tourmaline

The next bonus crystal came in the form of four small black tourmaline specimens. The more popular cuts of these seem to be solid black and longer, with defined ridges. These look to be more rough and unpolished. However, you can still make out black flat spots and ridges throughout, among the rust color.

green fluorite

Green Fluorite

Fluorite comes in many colors (so much that it's been called "the most colorful mineral in the world") and this pale green is one of the more common colors found. I received a good 1.25-inch long specimen that is cloudy with a few different green variations within.

lepidolite mica

Lepidolite Mica

The most unique of this month's batch is the pearlesque thin and flaky lepidolite mica. Normally found in pink and purple hues, mine is typical, thin enough to read through, and almost looks like a piece of shell found at the beach. This one could easily be snapped in half, so I'll be sure to keep good care of it.

Verdict: Enchanted Crystal delivered a larger "crystal of the month" along with four other smaller specimens to my door for $16.00. It's of course hard to place a value on each since every crystal and stone is unique in size and color, but seemingly similar (yet smaller) versions the lemurian amphibole quartz look to be going for the price of the subscription on Etsy, plus I got all of the bonus minerals as well!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but sign up today to receive February.

Sign up on or before the 5th of the month to get the current month’s box! All orders processed after the 5th will ship the following month. We ship between the 5th and 8th of each month.

Value Breakdown: For $16, I received five different stone or crystal types which breaks down to $3.20 each.

I ordered this as a gift for a friend before the cutoff date for the Decembers box. I received an email saying her box would be the January box. I was a bit miffed because it was a Christmas gift. She got her January box and sent me pictures of what she received. She did not receive this box, looking at last months box, she received a leftover December box. Just know you might receive a previous months box.
