Ecocentric Mom Subscription Box

Ecocentric Mom
3.6 overall rating
8 Ratings | 2 Reviews

Ecocentric Mom is a monthly eco-friendly subscription box for women, moms, and moms-to-be. They aim to only send products that are pure, healthy, useful, and fun. They have a number of subscription options: Woman/Mom Only, Pregnancy, Mom & Baby (for ages 0-18 months), Mom & Toddler (18 months - 4 years).

A note to subscribers: Ecocentric Mom just closed their ability for subscribers to login and choose two items in their box, and is instead moving towards customizing boxes based on your child's age and preferences instead. It looks like instead of having separate subscriptions for baby, toddler, etc, you can now add a gender and birthdate for your child to your box. I've seen continuous improvements from this box over the last year so I'm excited to see the changes in action!

This month's theme is Fresh Start, perfect for kicking off the new year! You can see all of the possible products included in this month's box here.

They're also running a little contest where you could win a mystery box if you write a review on their site. Ecocentric Mom mystery boxes are some of my favorites, so if you're a subscriber, definitely don't miss this chance to win one.

Saffron Road Chickpeas Snack

Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas - Buy a 6 oz bag for $3.79 here

Technically, I'm following the Whole30 diet this month, and chickpeas are not allowed. I did, however, sample one of these before passing them off to my husband.

Saffron Road Chickpeas Snack, detail

They have a satisfying crunch are well salted. I've not taken to these dried chickpea snacks before in the past, but I do love that they're such a nice protein boost. I've enjoyed them on salads before for the crunch, but they're not too exciting to eat on their own.

I should note, however, that there is a falafel flavor. I am definitely intrigued to give those a try!

They're also organic and vegan, without any artificial colors or flavors.

Chickbean Crisps Snack

Saffron Road Chickpea Crisps – Buy 12 bags for $47.18 here

I also skipped out on this snack other than a quick taste. They were light and crispy and pretty darn good.

My toddler loved these, even though he eschews vegetables in any other form except for the kind mixed in with applesauce in pouches.

I love that there are obvious chunks of lentil and peas, too.

We also received a coupon for $1 off Saffron Road's products! Falafel chickpeas, I'm coming for you.

Z-Skin Face Lift Toner

Z Skin Face Lift Toner – Retail Value $19.00

I selected this as one of my customized items this month because I recently ran out of my go-to toner and haven't been able to find it in stores anymore. I had a good experience with Z-Skin from another Ecocentric Mom box, so I thought this might be a good bet.

Z-Skin Face Lift Toner Ingredients

Despite all of the various botanicals listed on the ingredients, this has no detectable smell to me. The mist is very very very fine– to the point that I wasn't sure any of it even made it on to my face because it felt like it all dissipated immediately! I've since taken to spraying it onto a cotton round and applying, but the jury is still out on whether or not this is effective for my skin.

(I'm still frustrated though at how vague Z Skin's ingredients list is. I'm assuming most of the ingredients are essential oils, but they don't specifically say they're oils, which is confusing.)

Nature's Baby Organics Conditions & Detangler

Nature's Baby Organics Vanilla Tangerine Conditioner & Detangler – Retail Value $10.95 (found here for $9.82)

This stuff smells SO GOOD. It might even top my favorite Shea Moisture baby products!

We really needed this lately, too. My son's got very fine blonde hair and the back tends to be a matted, knotty mess unless it's kept very short. Using this as part of our bath time routine has really helped calm the mess, and it smells amazing. I might have to refill this one! I especially love that it can be left in for even more detangling power.

Yorba Organics Surface Sanitizer

Yorba Surface Sanitizer, 3 oz – Retail Value $9.95

I've been getting a lot of these smaller surface sanitizer bottles lately from various brands! They've been perfect for stashing in the car or in a purse for quick wipe-ups on the go.

I like this one because the rubbing alcohol scent dissipates pretty fast, and otherwise seems to work as promised.

Z-Skin Face Lift Lotion SPF 45

Z Skin Face Lift Lotion – Retail Price $24.99 (found here for $21.99)

It was recommended to use this along with the toner and Face Lift Wash. I really loved the Z-Skin sunscreen I received last summer, so I had high hopes for this SPF45 lotion!

Z-Skin Face Lift Lotion SPF 45 Ingredients

While I loved the thick consistency and herbal/fruity fragrance (it's SO hard to put my finger on what it is exactly), this made my face start to break out, so I stopped using it. I'm keeping it to use as a general everyday sunscreen for elsewhere on my body, though. I like that this brand doesn't have that sunscreen smell and feeling to it, but I just need a different type of product for the sensitive skin on my face.

Loba Mane Color Vibrante Hair Mask

Loba Mane Color Vibrante Transformative Mask, 2 oz - Retail Value $10

This small jar has a very luxurious hair mask inside.

Loba Mane Color Vibrante Hair Mask Detail

Again, I'm having trouble finding words to describe how good this smells! A little coconut, a little citrus, and some other fragrances I just can't pinpoint, which I bet are some of the more tropical and exotic ingredients. I LOVE it.

Loba Mane Color Vibrante Hair Mask Ingredients

I was unsure about this at first because coconut oil usually weighs my fine hair down way too much. But I lathered this on during a relaxing soak, let it sit for 10 minutes, and rinsed thoroughly. My hair had a really nice shine the next morning and wasn't greasy at all! I am definitely saving this for a future day when I really feel like my hair needs a good boost of moisture.

I actually can't believe this stuff is reasonably affordable because I swear any hair products I fall for are always grossly overpriced! But I should get 2-3 applications from this jar on my fine shoulder length hair.

Verdict: My January Ecocentric Mom Mom & Toddler Box had an overall value of $74.89 (not including the snacks, which I could not find a retail value for online). The skincare focused boxes from this brand usually have a great value, and this was no exception! Even though some of the products didn't work out for me this month, I still definitely got back the value of the box and then some in items I love and will use thoroughly.

I always think this is a great box for anyone looking to experiment with eco-friendly products in their home and personal care routines.
