Dia & Co. is a monthly plus size clothing subscription box that is personally curated for you by a Dia stylist. Upon enrolling with Dia, I filled out an extensive survey asking me about my clothing size/weight/height, price range, and also my style likes and dislikes. Every month my stylist selects five pieces that could be clothes or accessories to try out. If I like them, I have the option of buying them. There is a $20 per month service fee, but the fee can be applied to any purchases I opt to make. A 20% discount is applied if I choose to keep all five pieces too!

The items in my box are chosen personally for me dependent and reflective of my style and price preference, so the package you receive from Dia & Co. may be entirely different than mine!

Dia & Co. January 2018 Review

Dia and Co January 2018 envelope

Here is the fashionable Dia & Co. envelope I look forward to seeing every month, but this time it looks like someone’s dog tried to eat it. Woof!

Dia and Co January 2018 letter

Enclosed in this adorable envelope is a note from my stylist, Natalie, telling me why she selected the pieces she did for me along with some helpful styling tips.

Dia and Co January 2018 invoice

The other form is an invoice that has a detailed list of the brand, name, color, size, and price of each item she selected for me along with the grand total after the styling fee and 25% off ( if I opt to keep all five items) is applied. The savings would be $102 if I did decide to keep everything! That isn’t too shabby! Those savings would cover all but ten dollars for the Annie Woven Cami and the Carlonie Ponte skirt!

I am not much for camisoles or tanks and this one definitely didn’t change how I feel about them. The tank is cut like an asymmetrical handkerchief at the bottom and has like this baggy pocket of fabric that goes from the chest to the stomach. The only way I could wear it in a style I liked was by tucking it in, and I still wasn’t terribly keen on how it looked. This top just isn’t my style, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be for someone else. The camisole material is a shiny silky material with various striped details. This could be worn with black skinny jeans and knee-high boots and a cardigan for a cute yet casual look!

Let it be known: I love Ponte fabric. Also, if you weren’t aware, I am a sucker for a good pencil skirt. This skirt marries these two things well. I have a few skirts made from Ponte material and what is great about the fabric is that it is thick, but not so thick that it can’t be worn in warmer weather. Also that Ponte fabric is rather structured and immensely flattering. This skirt has a fantastic fit and really hugs the curves of the body. Plus, it is extremely versatile and will pair with anything form a button down pussybow blouse in the office to a t-shirt and jean jacket with booties. The only negative about this skirt was it was a bit big on me in terms of size and length. It overwhelmed my frame a tad, but this skirt still was one of my favorite pieces selected for me in this month’s box!

Kaitlyn Lurex Shrug by Pennington’s, size 2x - Retail Value $68

The pictures my photographer (aka my dad) and I took of this shrug don’t do justice in terms of showing off the metallic threading in this shrug. For that, I am sorry, guys! This sweater is incredibly soft, cozy, and warm. I do like that it is a bit oversized as well. The beauty of a sweater is its versatility. This can be worn with your favorite dress at the office with heels or a band shirt, boyfriend jeans, and a pair of high top Chuck Taylors. The options are endless with this piece and its adaptability can certainly justify the $68 price tag.

A few months ago I did a review for the bell sleeved blouse version of this dress from Rebel Wilson’s X Angels line for a Trunk Club review! I was so confused initially upon unboxing this because I thought it was the same shirt. This dress has different style sleeves than the top I reviewed. Instead of bell sleeves, the dress has slit sleeves. I am not into this slit sleeve trend. I can’t get behind it. It looks and feels so awkward to have your arm in a shirt yet so exposed at the same time. In addition, I was not fond of the zipper front or the weird ruffled bottom hem. This dress feels as though the design team decided to put as many trends as they could into one piece. I could foresee liking this dress if the slit sleeves were removed. Otherwise, I was not feeling this dress, sorry guys!

Well, I hate to say, but this may be my least favorite selection in this month’s Dia & Co box. The top is incredibly comfortable, but it is a tad boxy due to the bat wing cut. It just makes me think of Jennifer Beals in Flashdance. What is especially off putting to me is the pink. I tried to be open minded, but this bright fuscia hot pink shade is not my cup of tea. Paired with the grey just makes it seem more outdated to me. I paired this top with black leggings and my red Doc Martens because the times I do wear pink I love combining it with red. Maybe that color combo is a favorite of mine due to my love of Valentine’s Day, who knows? On the plus side, this top is extremely relaxed and is an easy piece to throw on with tapered dress pants, heels, and a few bangles for a great office look.

Verdict: I hate to be such a Negative Nancy, or in this case a Negative Nicole, but this was one of my least favorite Dia & Co boxes I have received in a while. My stylist, Natalie, usually nails it with her selections for me. It isn’t to say the pieces are bad, but they don’t feel like they were necessarily picked for me. I liked the Pennington’s shrug and pencil skirt best, but the rest of the pieces just didn’t appeal to me. I look forward to regrouping and providing feedback to my stylist because she generally selects ace pieces I love and have even purchased. The beauty of a service like Dia & Co is that the stylists are always receptive to your feedback because they want to make this a customized and tailored experience for their customers.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Dia & Co curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Coupon - Now through January 31st, use this link to have your first Dia & Co styling fee (regularly $20) waived!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $328. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20.00 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $226 for the whole box. Ultimately, that is roughly a 31% discount.

Can you wear the outfits out and about and then turn them back? If not, what company does do that kind of like Netflix when they use to mail physical dvds out and return it when your ready for new ones. That’s what I want.

Ditto!! I love those red Mary Janes also!! 🙂

What happens to the 20$ if u send eveything back? Is it basically just not really gone but a “fee” for them curating the clothes and shipping?

That box was atrocious. Ugh.

What a trainwreck of a box. There is nothing here that would seem to reflect your style. At all. That shrug is incredibly dowdy on you. You’re right that you swim in the ponte skirt. And that last top? For $69? You’ve got to be kidding!

Everything looks like it was pulled from their end of season/must get rid of rack BUT without the appropriate discounting. Even your stylist’s note seems to indicate that she knew she wasn’t sending you anything to get excited over.

This is the problem I had with Dia & Co. and why I cancelled and haven’t been persuaded to re-up my sub with them.

Seeing how great your last Stitch Fix box was and then contrasting it with this mish mash of blah, there is simply no comparison.

P.S. – you, of course, look adorable, Nicole, and do these items far more justice than they deserve!

I have to agree with what you said, Maddie in PA!

It is a shame because I have received some amazing boxes from Dia and Co over the last seven months, but this was one of the most underwhelming ones. It just didn’t feel personalized to me at all. I am hoping with my feedback that will help for next month. Natalie usually does a fantastic job, but this month was pretty lack luster, sad to say.

And yes, omg. That Stitch Fix box was unreal. Candace always puts so much thought into her selections. I am lucky to have her assigned to me. I have so much fun with what she sends me every month.

Thanks, as always, for checking out my reviews. I have a few more I am working on right now too. :o)

I loved the pieces that csme jn your box! I may be the only one that thinks so…looks like more of my daughters style especially the skirt and dress.

Elle Em

Oooh, those boots are everything. *heart eyes* What brand are they/where did you get them?

I really like the shrug. (What makes something a shrug rather than an open cardi? Is it the length or the weight of the material?)

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Hello there Elle!

Those boots are actually from Shoe Dazzle! I think they are still on the site too. Here is the original review I did for them as well if you want to check it out. It has a link to the boots in it as well: https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2017/10/shoedazzle-plus-review-first-look-for-10-october-2017.html

Truth be told, I feel like that shrug was more of a cardigan myself as well! Shrugs are generally meant to be more cropped versions of cardigans.

I saw the picture of you in the gray/pink shirt and thought “Wow! She looks fantastic in that outfit!”

Agree. Thought you looked smashing in this! Rethink throwing this back.

I agree. I actually thought this was the cutest outfit I’ve seen you in.

That dress would be great if it weren’t for the slit sleeves. I agree with you that’s a weird trend. It makes your elbows pop out of your shirt if you bend your arms at all, haha! I find the ruffle hem on that dress to be very flattering on you though!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Elise, thank you! Yes, I can see that. I have more issues with the spot sleeves than the ruffled skirt for sure. 😊 Slit sleeves annoy me far more than cold shoulder tops. Hahaha

Ditto. I love the colors of the dress with your hair! Maybe I like red & hot pink too… I never thought about putting those colors together, thanks for the idea. 🙂

No problem, heat7918! It is a killer combo. There was this pink and red floral dress at Target during the fall season. I have the top version and it is so adorable! Such a killer combo.
