Let It Snow greeting card

This month I got this ultra-cute and festive card!

Let It Snow greeting card inside

There isn’t a traditional information card or invoice included with the subscription box; you get a personalized handwritten card with styling suggestions instead. I really enjoy the personalized and thoughtful touch of this card and the handy styling tips that were included.

Crushed Black Velvet Rose Scoop Back Dress

Crushed Black Velvet Rose Scoop Back Dress, no size tag (brand and retail value unavailable)

Initially, I was excited to see a velvet dress in this month’s box. I jumped on the bandwagon for crushed velvet this past fall and I don’t plan on getting off of it anytime soon! The fabric has ample stretch, so it will fit the body’s curves well. I was concerned about the scoop neck on this dress because I cannot go without a bra. I am a busty bodacious babe and need that extra support, you know? So, I sat on my couch debating how to wear the dress or if styling it with a top underneath was a potential resolution. I was about to try the dress on when I realized there was a substantial rip at the seam on the torso portion of the dress. It is a large tear and wearing the dress further would create more damage. Sadly, that is why there are no pictures of me modeling this lovely dress.

I reached out to Nicole from CHC Vintage, and she was nothing but helpful and apologetic on the matter. She advised me that she will be sending me a replacement dress with my January box and that I can keep this dress as well. I do not trust myself sewing anything other than a patch on a jacket, so I will see about having this repaired by a seamstress. Needless to say, I am pleased with how the matter was handled. CHC typically provides pristine vintage pieces, so I have no worries that the replacement piece will be of fantastic quality like the rest of the items I have reviewed till now.

The replacement dress was sent to me a week or two after my initial December box.

Look at this cute puppers card the CHC team included with my replacement box! Too adorable!

Much like my normal monthly box, this replacement box comes with a personalized card with styling tips from the CHC team instead of an invoice paper. I always appreciate the sweet sentiments in these monthly cards. It makes the experience that much more tailored and thoughtful!

Teal Velvet Shirt Dress in Size 18 (no brand tag) - Retail Value Unavailable

When I initially unboxed my replacement dress I was concerned that this one wouldn’t fit, but by the grace of the goddesses, it did. However, I cannot button this dress up all the way due to my chest (story of my life), so I sense I won’t be wearing this dress to the office. I love the style of it, though! The dress is a stunning jewel tone teal shade. The fabric isn’t terribly stretchy, but the cut is rather flattering with the defined waist and A-line skirt. The dress came with a matching belt that did not fit me, so I paired it with my favorite double buckle western belt to further accentuate the waist. This dress paired amazingly well with my black tights and favorite booties from a previous Shoedazzle review. This dress would pair fantastically with my leopard print cardigan, much like the card suggested, but this dress lightweight enough to translate into warmer weather. Come spring I can see wearing this dress with flats or even my bad Sandy/classic Candies knockoff heels (I have been itching to wear them again. Dang winter.). I will get a lot of wear out of this dress which makes it such an incredible value as well!

Verdict: Though my first dress sent to me for December was damaged this time around, CHC Vintage certainly made that up with the replacement dress they sent me and with the great customer service they provided. Typically, the items CHC sends to me are flawless vintage pieces, so this whole situation was an off chance one that was handled rather well. I also appreciate how thoughtful their selections for me are. $35 for such a customized experience and getting a one of a kind dress; I don’t think I could ask for anything more!

Alex

The big boobie struggle is real but this dress is soooooo pretty and looks great on you. When I saw the velvet I was expecting you to be very excited. CHC seems like a really great company and the dresses are very reasonable priced. I’m ready to subscribe.

Where do you get your belts? I love the way they sit on your waist. I need about 20 for myself. 😊

Hey Alex!

Thanks for checking out my review.

Oh, I do love this dress! It is so cute. It is just a tad snug on me, but I will make it work!

CHC is AWESOME! They are so accommodating and their picks are pretty spot on! It is such a fun box to do because you know what you are getting is one of a kind!

As for my belts, I get them on ebay. This western style one was an Ebay find and I loved it so much I got a spare silver one and the same one in gold too! haha

Awwwwwe thank you, Connie! I will try to! I am terribly afraid of something slipping out and having to go to HR. hahahahaha. I am glad you enjoy my reviews. Your comment made my day!

honeybun, i still want to see that first dress, when you get it fixed, please!

you are the best example of a confident, beautiful girl i could ever want for my 18-yr old niece–thank you, soooo very much…

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awe thank you so much. Tammy Haley! I am the biggest procrastinator, but once I do get it fixed, I will do an update!

And omg, thank you so much! I know when I was eighteen I struggled so much with body image and feeling comfortable in my own skin. Eighteen years later, I am right at home with myself. And it is a good feeling. I wish back then I knew what I do now. But better late than never, right? And heck, if I can help someone else along in realizing their beauty and worth in their teens, that makes it all worth it.

Thanks for your kind words! They mean so much to me. Much love to you and your niece!

life is short, girls–this is what i know!

LorieLynn

I do believe that this is my favorite dress you’ve ever worn! The color is amazing with your hair and skin…and I think not being able to button up the top was a great accident…made that dress sexy and stunning

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

LorieLynn, thank you so much! Yeah, the dress is ultra cute and a few extra buttons undone definitely makes it far more sassy! :o)

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

I agree with a the other comments. Love the dress, and I’m always impressed with how photogenic you are!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awwwe thank you so much, Michelle!

Reply ButtonReply

AmyM

This is really pretty! The color is gorgeous and I wasn’t expecting the cool detail of the buttons up the back.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thanks so much, Amy M! And yes, aren’t the buttons such a neat detail?!

Reply ButtonReply

Beka

This blue dress is my favorite that you’ve ever modeled! Absolutely beautiful ( as always).

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awe shucks, thanks, Beka! CHC staff totally knows how to pick them, right?

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

I’ve seen modesty inserts you attach to your bra that provide the look of a camisole or tank underneath but it’s actually just a triangular piece of fabric so you won’t have an extra layer of fabric.
And I agree that your modeling pics are always awesome.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thanks for the tip, Julie! I do feel a camisole would be far too bulky since the dress is a bit snug. I will have to check those out.

And thanks for the compliment! I do what I can! :o)

Reply ButtonReply

Chris

OMG you look fantastic in that dress ! You’re beautiful

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awe, thank you so much, Chris! :o)

Reply ButtonReply

Janet

If you wear a camisole under it then it should be fine for work.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

True, Janet! I may try the modesty piece that Julie mentioned. Mainly because the dress is a bit snug and a camisole may be too much tbh.

Reply ButtonReply

Joy

You look fantastic! 💖

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thanks so much, Joy!

Reply ButtonReply

Caligirl

Beautiful. Perfect dress for you.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thanks. Caligirl! CHC always slays with what they choose for me!

Jessica Hapak

The replacement dress looks STUNNING on you! You look so gorgeous, especially with the snow falling. Seriously, CHC should use your photos as marketing material because the gorgeous blue dress, your gorgeous self, and the falling snow is just a beautiful picture.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Jessica Hapak! That was fortunate really. I was so afraid with the snow falling in those pics and some of the others that it would be an issue, but I do think it worked out great!

And CHC actually does use some of my pics on social media—which is totally flattering and sweet! I am glad they can use them to promote their amazing business!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

She is gorgeous in everything and we do!

Reply ButtonReply

Noelle L

Agreed!

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

Love! Maybe you can still wear to work with a smooth lace cami underneath?

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thanks, Laura! I may try out the modesty slip thing-a-ma-bob that Julie mentioned since it will be less fabric. it is a tight fit in that cute dress! hahaha
