Cat Lady Box December 2017 Review

Cat Lady Box is always full of fun, cat-themed lifestyle items. Let’s see what was in store for January:

Cat Lady Box January 2018 Booklet front

Cat Lady Box January 2018 Booklet back

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month. And the back has more information about the items in the box.

3 Kitty Cat Pen Set

Kitty Cat Pen Set

Kitty Cat Pen Set

Kitty Cat Pen Set – Listed Value $5.99

These are officially my “Mr. Kitty” pens.  You’ll see why below. Anyway, I always need new pens because Angus knocks mine under furniture, so we’ll see how long I manage to keep track of these.

Cat Shaped Mug – Listed Value $11.99

This seems like a slightly lower-capacity mug than most of the ones I have in my kitchen, but that’s OK. I’m going to take it to work because I use a French press there for Crio Bru and it never fills up the mugs at work, but it makes the perfect amount for this mug. Plus, you know, cat ears.

Fantastic Cat Hoodie

Fantastic Cat Hoodie

Fantastic Cat Hoodie

Fantastic Cat Hoodie – Listed Value $39.99

I was home by myself when taking pictures for this box, and don’t have a very big area to work in, so hopefully, the extra shots provide you with some of the necessary details for this item. It is a purple long-sleeved hoodie and it came around at just the right time for me. I have been practically living in last year’s Cat Lady Squad hoodie since my surgery in October and I really need something to alternate that one with for laundry purposes. This one is soft and the zipper works well, though the hood does not have cat ears built in.

Simon the Snowball

Simon the Snowball – Listed Value $3.99

This is the “Crazy” Cat Lady Box, so I received a couple of cat toys. This is a catnip plush with a fuzzy outer coating. It is a simple ball and small enough to toss around, and Angus has been having a lot of fun with it.

Snowflake Felt Wand Cat Toy

Snowflake Felt Wand Cat Toy – Listed Value $4.99

Usually Angus and Sneaky are my dangly-toy-on-a-stick cats, but this time Monkey didn’t want to let anyone else play with this at all. It is his new best friend. He butted in whenever I tried to take pictures of any other cat with this item. Well, he’s an older guy (maybe 11 or 12) so I’m happy he found a toy he likes!

Gratuitous cat photos ahead:

Monkey was waiting around the corner, ready to pounce on Angus, lest Angus enjoy Monkey’s new love, the purple ribbon toy, too much.

Madison was actually kind of freaked out about all the attention on the ribbon. He ran under the bed after this.

Monkey with his new love.

I think Sneaky was a little miffed that Monkey was hogging the wand toy.

Mr. Kitty snuggling with the snowball toy.

Mr. Kitty with the pen that ALSO is missing its left eye. (I know it is winking. But you can’t find actual merchandise with one-eyed cats, whereas you can find merchandise with winking cats, so we’ll take what we can get. There have been a lot of pirate and cyclops jokes at my house lately.)

Verdict: I calculated a value of $66.95 for the January 2018 (Crazy) Cat Lady Box. That is definitely more than I paid for the box, plus I feel like the values were pretty accurate this month. The “hero” item definitely works for me and the toys were well-loved by my cats, as well!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Orders have to be placed by the 22nd of the previous month. So if you sign up today, you'll receive the February box.

Coupon - Use coupon code PURRFECT and order before the 1/22 cutoff to save 10% off of any length subscription.

Value Breakdown: At a price of $39.99 for this box, you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Pens $3.58
  • Mug $7.16
  • Hoodie $23.89
  • Snowball toy $2.38
  • Wand $2.98

My daughter is a size 0. How small is a small? Thanks!

It’s hard to judge as each item is different. However, I wear a small or medium in most brands and can definitely wear the small with this subscription box not worrying about it being too tight.

I would say the small would probably be a bit big on your daughter. I would email them and ask as their customer service is awesome

Mr Kitty looks great! I totally get that pen representing him. Perhaps there needs to be a manufacturer who makes some one-eyed kitty stuff! I know a number of people who have cats who have lost an eye due to various reasons.

Okay, my own box just arrived and I need to amend my earlier assessment. While the box still isn’t visually exciting this month, it might be one of their best. This hoodie seems more accurately sized than the last (the Cat Lady Squad one) and, so, fits comfortably. The mug has a nice parian china look and feel about it. And, the pens write better than expected. Simon the Snowball is perfectly sized for batting and, to top it off, the wand streamer you is a huge hit. The extra long felt ribbon means all three furkids can get in on the action at once, the ribbon is firmly attached, the wand nicely flexible, and the dual sided foil print on the ribbon is attractive if not to the kids (I do think they notice it) then at least to me. I stand corrected. This month’s crazy Cat Lady Box is great!

Always one of my very favorite reviews of the month! There can never be too many cat pictures.

I accidentally bought this box because I didn’t cancel soon enough! 😬

I had it set to a size large for my aunt, so of course this hoodie will never fit me! I have the mug (which really reminds me more of a teacup) & hoodie up for swap

Kisses to Mr. Kitty and the rest of the kids. Aside, I’m a bit underwhelmed with this month’s box though everything is actually of use to me and the value exceeds cost.

I stand corrected. Physical box arrived today and while not visually exciting, every single thing is a hit and a keeper.
