November 2017 Full Experience Review

I've reviewed the Sampler box before, but this is the first time I've received the Full Experience Monthly Gourmet Box! Instead of sample sizes, this one delivers 6-8 full-size foods to discover from a single-themed country each month.

You'll find a booklet with the featured country, as well as info on all of the items. This month also came with a full recipe for the included flan, which is helpful since the box only has directions in French.

Sibell Rippled Herbs de Provence Potato Chips Sibell Rippled Herbs de Provence Potato Chips on plate

Sibell Rippled Herbs de Provence Potato Chips - Retail Value $4.50

Wow- these are SO GOOD. I love chippies and the fact that no one in the US has done a flavor like this is a huge misstep. So what exactly is Herbs de Provence? The internet tells me that it normally is made up of savory, marjoram, rosemary, thyme, oregano, and sometimes lavender for the North American market. The ingredients on the chips don't break it down, but I really taste the oregano prominently which is probably why I like these so much. They also aren't overly salty so it's easy to eat a lot of these at once.

Alsa French Flan Mix back of Alsa French Flan Mix

Alsa French Vanilla Flan Mix - Retail Value $5.35

Truth be told, I've never had flan! The booklet this month includes a recipe to make this since the box only has the instructions in French. Flan comes in vanilla and chocolate, with the potential to add all sorts of other flavors to it as well. The booklet suggests using cinnamon to top it and adding fresh fruit. Since it takes an hour and a half, I haven't yet gotten the chance to make it, but will keep it in my cupboard for the next time I'm feeling the baking bug. 🍮

Chocmod Cocoa Dusted Truffles Chocmod Cocoa Dusted Truffles on plate

Chocmod French Cocoa Dusted Truffles, 2.1 oz. - Retail Value $4.95

Ooooh- my Mom loves cocoa dusted truffles and these would certainly send her into a tizzy. As you may assume, these are super decadent and I only need one to satisfy my sweet tooth. If you're a big fan of hot cocoa, I think this is very much the solid form of the lovely drink, sans the whipped cream.

Filet Bleu Organic Butter Biscuits with Chocolate Filet Bleu Organic Butter Biscuits with Chocolate on plate

Filet Bleu Organic Butter Biscuits with Chocolate, 5.2 oz. - Retail Value $4.95

Mmmm butter biscuits... WITH dark chocolate on top? Yes, please! I used to dislike dark chocolate when I was younger, favoring the more milky kind, but have come to appreciate the slight bitterness of the chocolate with a higher cocoa percentage. The light buttery cookie is a nice balance to the chocolate on top, which has a really pretty cocoa bean design stamped into it. These would be a great cookie to serve at a party with finger foods due to their scalloped edges and stately look!

Karine & Jeff Organic French Lentils a la Provencale back of Karine & Jeff Organic French Lentils a la Provencale open jar of Karine & Jeff Organic French Lentils a la Provencale

Karine & Jeff Organic French Lentils a la Provencale, 18.3 oz. - Retail Value $8.65

You can tell right away that this is some fancy stuff, based on the design of the label. I received a jar of lentils a la provencale, which has lentils mixed with all sorts of other delicious veggies like zucchini, tomatoes, green bell peppers, and seasonings. The funny thing about this is that soon after receiving it, it showed up in my Instagram feed via a friend who works at the local food Co-Op. Spooky, right? He chose to eat this over rice as a main dish, so I followed his lead and did the same. My roommate and I gobbled this down quickly since we both love lentils. The addition of the tomato really makes this heartier than lentils alone and they nailed a great flavor here. Would definitely be into trying some of the other jarred kinds Karine & Jeff has to offer.

St Michel Mini Madelines with Chocolate Chips St Michel Mini Madelines with Chocolate Chips on plate

St. Michel Mini Chocolate Chip French Madeleines, 6.1 oz. - Retail Value $3.85

These are very soft and moist and kind of a cross between a muffin and a cupcake. I had some with coffee, which was a nice little treat. The bag included was a good size, so I have plenty to share with friends or ration out to stretch several mornings.

Brioche Pasquier Pain au Lait French Sweet Milk Rolls Brioche Pasquier Pain au Lait French Sweet Milk Roll on plate

Brioche Pasquier 8 Pain au Lait French Sweet Milk Rolls, 9.9 oz. - Retail Value $4.70

Ah yes. The brioche: a main staple of Yummy Bazaar. This is the first time I've received a whole bag of eight sweet milk rolls. These are very simple, straightforward, and remind me of the French version of a King's Hawaiian Roll that is a favorite with my family at the holidays. Even though I don't personally like mixing a sweet roll with savory fillings, this would make a really cute hoagie bun. The back of the package offers several ways to use these (such as slider buns) but says that in France they are enjoyed with some butter or jam at breakfast.

Life's Nuts Sprouted Pizzalmonds back of Life's Nuts Sprouted Pizzalmonds Life's Nuts Sprouted Pizzalmonds on plate

Life's Nuts Sprouted Pizzalmonds, 1.4 oz. - Retail Value $3.89 (found here, though currently sold out)

These aren't a product of France, but look like they're just a bonus sample thrown into the box, which is fine by me. They are super delicious and seriously do taste like pizza. The tomato flavor really stands out the most to me, with hints of garlic and maybe some oregano? It's like someone rolled some almonds all over a pizza, then put them in a bag.

Bobby Sue's Nuts Original back of Bobby Sue's Nuts Original Bobby Sue's Nuts Original on plate

Bobby Sue's Nuts Original Flavor, 1 oz. - Retail Value $1.95

Like the Life's Nuts Pizzalmonds, these weren't listed on the sheet, nor are they from France, so it must be a bonus sample as well. I've actually received them in other boxes, and have enjoyed them! The 1 oz is a perfect snack size and the almonds, cashews, and pecans are deliciously candied.

Verdict

My first Yummy Bazaar Full Experience Monthly Gourmet Box was full of great treats were super duper tasty! I love that you get full-size products in this box, and the fact that they included savory as well as sweet foods. The lentils probably take the cake for me, with the chips and truffles falling in the second and third spots in my yum scale. For $35.95, I received seven full-size products and two bonus sample items worth almost $43.00 retail.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. If you subscribe today, you'll receive the January box which ships between the 15-18th.

Value Breakdown: At $35.95 for this box, you are paying approximately $5.14 per item (for full-size products).
