Orglamix November 2017 “Cheers to 2018” Box Review

This month’s theme is “Cheers to 2018,” which is nice in contrast to the many, many Christmas-themed subscription boxes I’ve received this month:

Orglamix December 2017 Booklet Inside

The box came with an information card detailing the items and theme for December.

Pink Champagne Natural Eyeshadow

Pink Champagne Natural Eyeshadow – Listed Value $12.50

You’ll usually get at least one loose powder shadow in Orglamix. The colors, like this one, are exclusive to the box (though the listed values are the same as colors available on their website). This is a good color for me as I do have a lot of pink in my wardrobe and I like to be fairly conservative with my eye makeup looks.

Auld Lang Syne Natural Eyeshadow

Auld Lang Syne Natural Eyeshadow – Listed Value $12.50

This is the second shadow for this month. Again, the light color definitely works for me. I like the formula for these shadows a lot; I find that it doesn’t irritate my eyes (even though I wear contacts and have sensitive eyes) and it blends well.

Midnight Kiss Lip Balm

Midnight Kiss Lip Balm – Listed Value $6

This has a strong peppermint scent and flavor. It definitely has a menthol kick to it, so it made my lips tingle a bit. (Some people think that menthol in balms aids in plumping the lips but I can’t decide if I saw that effect or not.)

Citron de Vigne Solid Perfume

Citron de Vigne Solid Perfume – Listed Value $9

Every solid perfume that Orglamix has sent has smelled wonderful and this one is no exception. This has pear, ginger, nutmeg, white sandalwood, and rose, and it works as a sort of holiday spicy scent but also just generally for fall (I don’t notice the rose much). These need to be reapplied periodically and don’t have strong sillage, but that works well for environments like offices where you don’t want everyone 20 feet away to smell you, too!

Face Mist

Face Mist – Listed Value $10

This has alpha hydroxy acids so you would want to make sure to use a good sunscreen in combination with this product. You can use it as a makeup setting spray but I found that I liked it more as a skincare product, applied to a cotton pad and then wiped over my face (I’m not much for spraying things directly onto my face). I used it in place of a toner. This has tea tree oil and willow bark so I am hoping it will clear up breakouts when used consistently over time!

makeup swatches on inside of wrist

Here are swatches of the shadows for this month. They are kind of pale here but definitely buildable for more dramatic color (or use over a good primer).

Verdict: I calculated a value of $50 for the December Orglamix subscription box. None of the items were in their shop, so I had to use values from the information card, but they seem reasonable based on prices of other Orglamix items. This value was a little low for Orglamix, but still well above the cost of the subscription. (Plus, since the items worked for me, I was pretty happy overall.)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today?  No, this was December's box and they typically ship around the 10th, so you’d get January’s box as your first one.

Value Breakdown: At $29 per box, here’s approximately what you are paying per item:

  • Pink Champagne Eyeshadow $7.25
  • Auld Lang Syne Eyeshadow $7.25
  • Lip Balm $3.48
  • Solid Perfume $5.22
  • Face Mist $5.80

I’ve been keeping an eye on this box, and decided to try it out. Ironically, the shadows are the only items that won’t work for me, so those will be gifted, but the non-shadow items always appealed to me. I can’t wait to see what the January box brings. 🙂

FYI: The code SA30 works on prepaid subs too!

Good box! The face mist seems like a bit of a departure from what they usually send, & the scent sounds yummy.
