It’s been in the comments in the last 2 LiveGlam MSA posts, I believe. Basically, there was a YouTube video that accused LiveGlam of fraudulent/borderline fraudulent behavior on multiple levels. Some of it was definitely a stretch, but the person who made the video found many, many people who had had their card information stolen just after making a LiveGlam subscription or just after canceling one.

Because of this video, LiveGlam finally addressed the issue (I’m under the impression that people had been contacting LG for weeks with no response)…. buried in a blog post on their website, saying they would investigate. Days later, they updated with some vague info that an “attacker” had “intercepted” some card numbers, & that they would be emailing the affected customers once they sorted out who was affected… but it might take a few days. And then they offered the people who were affected a year of credit monitoring.

For me personally, this is an unsatisfactory response on multiple levels: 1) they ignored the security concerns of individual customers & only addressed a security issue when it started to become a PR issue as the YouTube video circulated 2) the whole explanation of the “investigation” & taking days to find out what happened, & the post explaining what supposedly happened sounds… off — maybe it’s just another case of a company being tone deaf in terms of PR statements, but it seems like they are not fully disclosing everything that happened, & are painting themselves as helpless victims 3) they should have contacted all their past & present subscribers IMMEDIATELY as soon as they knew there was a breach, so we could take steps ourselves to begin monitoring our accounts, rather than wait days & days to send out emails days later, leaving people unknowingly vulnerable during that period.

Wow, that is a very bad way to handle this. Going to stay away from them.
