KitNipBox December 2017 Review
The information card included a list of items in the box. They included values and I have used a lot of these below because KitNipBox toys can be hard to find for sale online. This month had a holiday theme.
‘R Squad Catnip Gingerbread Man – Listed Value $5
This is a medium-sized catnip plush toy. Monkey rubbed his chin all over it. He does that with pretty much everything I hold up to him, but I guess that is a sign of approval? I suspect Angus will get a lot out of this, as well.
All for Paws Winter Snowflake Kicker – Listed Value $5
This is definitely an Angus item. It’s a catnip “kicker” (on the small side, which is my cats’ preference) with feathers on the end. He is really drawn to this type of toy and he has already shown some interest in this one.
Best Pet Glow in the Dark Rattle Mouse – Listed Value $4
This was more Madison’s style (you can never predict these things, but it helps to have a lot of cats…). It’s a bit large for a catnip plush (good for cuddling and chin rubbing, less good for tossing around) and the rattle is not too obnoxious.
LEAP Corduroy Catnip Reindeer – Listed Value $5
This is another medium-to-large catnip plush but what distinguishes it is the texture. The corduroy has been interesting to several of my cats (especially Monkey).
Silver Sparkles Holiday Feather Wand – Listed Value $7
Lately, pretty much every KitNipBox has had a dangly toy on a stick and I am not going to complain. This is one of the most popular types of toys in my house. Angus and Sneaky will reliably play with them, but Monkey and Madison also enjoyed this.
Safemade Wobbler Tree – Listed Value $6
For most of my photo session, Monkey “loved” this by repeatedly rubbing his face on it. Madison seemed to like the feathers, too. Well, whatever works! (This is weighted on the bottom so the feathers are always pointing upwards.)
Wellness Kittles Turkey and Cranberries Treats (2 oz) – Retail Value $2.99 (found here for $2.79)
These are small, crunchy treats. Sneaky, Angus, and Madison were all fans. They are made in the USA and come in a resealable bag to maintain freshness. They are not stinky (as many cat treats are) and don’t really leave residue on your hands, either.
Gratuitous cat photo time:
Angus liked the feather wand a lot. No surprise there.
Angus liked the treats.
Almost every picture I took of Madison was like this – he managed to hide his face nearly every time.
Madison also liked the treats.
Meanwhile, Monkey didn’t want to do anything but inspect this toy. He didn’t eat the treats (but he had a giant hairball right after I finished pictures, so he probably wasn’t feeling his best…).
Sneaky liked a lot of the items but the only pictures that came out any good were the ones of her eating (her favorite pastime).
And here is a bonus picture. If you wondered why so many pictures were on the table, it’s because Nyx really wanted in on the action with this box. I like her face here.
Mr. Kitty is still recovering from his surgery (he will have stitches for about another week and a half) so he will not be appearing in this review.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $34.99 for the December KitNipBox. That’s more than a couple of dollars over the cost of the subscription on a month-to-month basis. I am definitely happy to get another feather wand, and even though there were a lot of catnip plushes, they were all subtly different (feathers, sounds, etc.). Plus, the treats were a hit with most of my cats.
